Installing R on Red Hat Linux, Tcl/Tk
Hi, I've been trying to install R on Red Hat Linux 9 for some potential users of my R/TclTk application. I tried using the rpm for R 1.7.1 for Red Hat Linux 9. It told me that I needed: libtcl8.3.so so I looked for a binary release of Tcl 8.3.x on http://www.tcl.tk/software/tcltk/8.3.html but found that the link to the Tcl 8.3.x binaries pointed to ActiveTcl 8.4.x . I couldn't see

Errors compiling wine under Red Hat
Hello, all, I'm trying to get Wine running on some Red Hat boxes at my University (don't worry, I have permission!) ... But, I don't have any root access to the boxes, and I'm limited to installing on my shared (AFS) space. In any case, I'd probably want it to run from my user space anyways, so that its accessible from all boxes on the network. Some required information,

Looking for specific drag and drop implementation
I finally started playing with delicious and am liking it! I''m building an app where people can have various ''folders'' of images and then ''sets'' of said images. A set is simply a object that links to any number of specific image in the folders. To create/organize a set, I''ve set up two draggables. One being a selected folder, the other being

glusterfs and samba (file-max limit reached)
Recently a gluster I setup got mounted on a server that exports it through samba. It appears to work till a point. Unexpectedly on heavy usage the nodes happen to reach the max file descriptors opened limit really easily. Anybody else has experience on it? Is that kind of usage supported. currently one node seems to have surpassed about 3M open files even if the samba server claims to have

[OT] Red Hat binary compatibility, from Red Hat Linux 4.0 to Fedora Core 3 (and RHEL4) ...
I wrote part of a FAQ last November, and if you're interested in the breakdown of GCC, GLibC and kernel adoption since Red Hat Linux 4.0, you'll want to read this: http://www.geocities.com/thebs413/RH-Distribution-FAQ-3.html I've been loosely working on a "Linux Configuration Management" book covering Red Hat distributions since. I might update this FAQ if I have

Problem with winecfg on Red Hat Linux
A colleague insalled Wine for me on a 32-bit Red Hat Linux server yesterday. I am not trying to install an application called LIMDEP under Wine. The documentation says to start a script called winecfg. When I invoke that script, all I get is a gray box on my screen with a few tabs. No text appears on the screen. If I click on some of the tabs, there are drop-down menus, which also have no text.

Fonts do not display properly in R 2.5.1 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4
Dear All I posted a similar question quite some time ago, but that was on an old OS and an old version of R. This time I have RHEL 4, which is still supported as an OS, and R 2.5.1 which is not *that* old. My sessionInfo() gives: > sessionInfo() R version 2.5.1 (2007-06-27) i686-redhat-linux-gnu locale: LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8;LC_NUMERIC=C;LC_TIME=en_GB.UTF-8;LC_COLLATE=en_GB.U
