Hi LLVM-dev!

A different error in sample()
Besides wording of the documentation re truncating vs rounding, there
is something peculiar going on with the fractional part of n:

Adaptec SCSI Card 2930LP supported by CentOS 5.x?
Hi,
for a specific application we need a low-profile SCSI card (PCI) with
external 50pin connector. I thought about getting an "Adaptec SCSI Card
2930LP". However I was not able to find any usable information about
wether this card is supported by Linux/CentOS 5.x or not. Does anyone
have this card working with a CentOS 5.x machine?
Alternatively: Are there any linux-supported

R not responding (must force quit) when saving graphic to PDF (bug?)
Dear Neil
Have you tried with completely uninstalling your R, and reinstalling a more recent version (e.g. 3.2.4 right now).
And then the same with your operating system - OS X is currently at 10.11.4.
There is likely not much interest (or benefit) in chasing such things in obsolete versions.
And I think R-help would be the more appropriate place for this kind of question.

A different error in sample()
FWIW, I suspect this is related to the function R_unif_index that was
introduced in src/main/RNG.c around revision 72356, or the way this
function is used in do_sample in src/main/random.c.

R not responding (must force quit) when saving graphic to PDF (bug?)
Dear Wolfgang,
Thanks for your response.
No, I haven't tried doing the complete reinstallation as you suggest. If I
recall correctly, this has happened on previous occasions but like I said
in my email it's not all that disruptive to my workflow. It's more like a
'first world problem'.
I was encouraged to submit the query because I had correspondence with
someone involved

multcomp: contrasts for count data
Hi,
I would like to derive p-values for pair-wise comparison (Tukey's) of
effects when the response is a count.
I am trying a test case where y ~ Po( lambda(x) ). x has three
levels : A, B and C with lambda(x) = 10, 20 and 20 respectively.
Hence, p-values for the contrast C - B should distribute uniformally.
I have implemented this test case as below but do not get uniform

12-bit functionality in tiff package
Hi,
We have recently been using the tiff package for reading tiff images into the Bioconductor Package EBImage. This has been extremely helpful in conjunction with other steps to eliminate dependencies on ImageMagick.
However, it seems that 12-bit images are not supported. We were wondering if there are plans to extend the functionality of the readTIFF() function in the tiff package to

Possible bug in Spearman correlation with use="pairwise.complete.obs"
Hi,
I have just encountered a strange behaviour from 'cor' with regards to
the treatment of NAs when calculating Spearman correlations. I guess it
is a subtle bug.
If I understand the help page correctly, the two modes 'complete.obs'
and 'pairwise.complete.obs' specify how to deal with correlation
coefficients when calculating a correlation _matrix_. When calculating

Problem with yppasswd ans openssh on Irix
Hi,
I compiled openssh 2.1.1p1 on Irix 6.2 with MIPS 7.2.1.2m compiler. All
works fine except the yppasswd command from Irix (it's no NIS-problem,
same with rlogin works):

Login Scripts Win95/WinNT
We want to use simple DOS login scripts with Samba.
Our Samba server is a Sun sparc station running under Solaris 2.6,
our clients are both Win 95 and Win NT 4.0 workstations.
We set up our Samba server with user level security and configured
everything according to the Samba documentation. The Samba server is acting

colour palettes in biplot
biplot could benefit from allowing colour palettes,
eg. allowing col=list(xcol= xxpal, ycol= yypal) where xxpal and yypal
are palettes.
For an example, see the robust pricipal components in the principal
componetent section of
<http://www.statlab.uni-heidelberg.de/data/olive/olive10.pdf>
The required change is to replace
col[1L] resp. col[2L] by col[1L]] reep. col[[2L]] for example in

Fwd: Functional programming and R: Recommendations?
Hello R list members,
I have a good object-oriented programming and software engineering background
(mostly Java) and know some R.
I'd like to learn more about functional programming concepts and its support
and application in R. Do you have any recommendations (books, links etc)?
I read (and like) "Programming in Scala" (Odersky) and just ordered

"Too many raster images" in devPS.c
Hi,
I am finding the recently added [1] functionality of embedding raster
images into plots on R devices very useful! Thanks to Paul Murrell and
others for providing that. I noted that in
https://svn.r-project.org/R/trunk/src/library/grDevices/src/devPS.c
a macro is defined: #define MAX_RASTERS 64, and consequently, I get
Error in grid.Call.graphics("L_raster", x$raster, x$x, x$y,
