Extracting random rows from a dataset
Hello dear R Users, I am working on a dataset of 928 Enterprises, of which are observed 12 different characters. I need to randomly sample, without repetition, 70% of the entreprises, to create a testing set, and let the other 30% of the enterprises be a validating set (holdout validation, I think that is). How do I do that? Of course all the characters of each row must remain together. Also, I

Yum segmentation fault updating from 5.6 to 5.7
I'm trying to update my CentOS 5.6 boxes to 5.7, and on every single one of them yum is failing with a segmentation fault: the error happens when yum is checking the 'base' repository. Annoying winbind problem solved
I have been on the web for hours reading email postings about WINDBIND. Here is the scenario. Samba 2.27 on Redhat 8, installed via the redhat RPMs. the first interesting note was that there is no samba-winbind rpm. It is a part of the samba-common.rpm in redhat. I have been using Samba as a file server for quite some time. And 100% of my issues with it stem from permission problems. So I heard

patch proposal for ssh-copy-id script
Hello everybody, I write an update version of ssh-copy-id script in order to support sshd non running on standard port 22. So I added another parameter to the script to allow user to specify the daemon port. I've also changed the way the command line parameter are retrieved in order to have a more "robust" way of getting them using getopts. Due to this change host name must be

possible error in ssh-copy-id man page
The man page for ssh-copy-id says: If the .B -i option is given then the identity file (defaults to .BR ~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub ) Than a few lines later it says: If the .B -i option is used, or the .B ssh-add produced no output, then it uses the contents of the identity file. Shouldn't the former line say "If the -i option is _not_ given? Josef Assad

Rename computer in a domain
Hello, when I try to rename a win200x/XP client joined in a Samba domain, I get an error (Access is denied), although the user I put in the dialog box has privilege to do it. In LDAP log I see that Samba does first a search with the old machine name, after it does a search with new machine name, but the entry does not exists on LDAP then it stops with an error. I then tried to clone the

New package: dtw - Dynamic Time Warping
Dear R community, I would like to introduce the package "dtw" for computing Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) alignments and related algorithms on timeseries. The DTW algorithm computes the time axis stretch which optimally maps one timeseries (query) onto another (template); it outputs the resulting cumulative distance between the two inputs, which is frequently used for classification and

[PATCH nbdkit] common: Improve pseudo-random number generation.
Currently we use non-cryptographically secure random numbers in two places, the error filter (to inject errors at random) and the random plugin. For this we have used either random_r or a home-brew-ish Linear Congruential Generator. Use of random_r is problematic on BSDs because it doesn't exist there. Use of the LCG is simply a bad choice. Replace both uses with a better quality and

Comment from OpenLDAP developer regarding "deferring operations"
I received this response from a member of the OpenLDAP core team when asking about meaning of the deferred operations I was seeing. Is it possible that this is what I'm seeing, Timo? -Ben --------------------------------------------- I'd note that if your client is performing search + bind on the same connection in an asynchronous manner, then the server behavior as per RFC4511 is

Avoiding deadlock... Problem
Hi I have 3FXO trunks called ZAP-25,ZAP-26 and ZAP-28 and T1 Channnel bank I get this deadlock problem when 2 incoming call from FXO(Here ZAP-28 and then ZAP-26) wants to dial same channel (Here ZAP-1). In this senario ZAP-1 first answer ZAP-28 and thne ZAP-26 wants to call ZAP-1 but it time out and goto voicemail after that ZAP-1 try to reach ZAP-26 call by puting ZAP-28 on HOLD During
