Minimizing two non-linear functions with genoud - Trying to minimize or converge near zero
Hello R users, I am trying to minimize two functions with genoud. It is actually one function with two sets of data, each of them having two unknown variables (called Vcmax and gi) which have the same value in each of the function. They are called f.1 and f.2 in the code below. My objective to minimize the functions in order to get the two variables equal in each of the functions. Furthermore, I

Two 3D cones in one graph
Dear R-users: The following code produces two cones in two panels. What I would like to have is to have them in one, and to meet in the origin. Does anyone have any good ideas how to do this? Thanks for your help Jaakko library(lattice) A<-matrix(ncol=2, nrow=64) for(i in 0:63) { A[i+1,1]<-sin(i/10) A[i+1,2]<-cos(i/10) }

fit a gamma pdf using Residual Sum-of-Squares
Hi all, I would like to fit a gamma pdf to my data using the method of RSS (Residual Sum-of-Squares). Here are the data: x <- c(86, 90, 94, 98, 102, 106, 110, 114, 118, 122, 126, 130, 134, 138, 142, 146, 150, 154, 158, 162, 166, 170, 174) y <- c(2, 5, 10, 17, 26, 60, 94, 128, 137, 128, 77, 68, 65, 60, 51, 26, 17, 9, 5, 2, 3, 7, 3) I have typed the following code, using nls method:

nls and discontinuous functions
Folks; I have looked for this subject extensively using all the resources I have available and could not find a solution; therefore I am sending you this email seeking for help. I need to solve a discontinuous nonlinear function, but R 2.6 keeps giving me an error. Below is a simple example: f <- function (t,k,l,u) { r0<-346.1 x<-t-l if (x<0) r0 else (r0-u)*exp(-k*x)+u

function in nls argument
Greetings R users, maybe there is someone who can help me with this problem: I define a function "optim.fun" and want as output the sum of squared errors between predicted and measured values, as follows: optim.fun <- function (ST04, SM08b, ch2no, a, b, d, E) { predR <- (a*SM08b^I(2)+b*SM08b+d)*exp(E*((1/(283.15-227.13))-(1/(ST04+273.15-227.13)))) abserr

How should a SelfStart function handle illegal parameter values?
Hi Everyone, I'm trying to write selfStart non-linear models for use with nls. In these models some combinations of parameter values are illegal; the function value is undefined. That's OK when calling the function directly [e.g. SSmodel(x, pars...)]; I return an appropriate non-value such as NA or Inf. However, when called from nls [e.g. nls(y~SSmodel(x, pars...), ...)] those

solving nls
Hi, I have some data I want to fit with a non-linear function using nls, but it won't solve. > regresjon<-nls(lcfu~lN0+log10(1-(1-10^(k*t))^m), data=cfu_data, > start=(list(lN0 = 7.6, k = -0.08, m = 2))) Error in nls(lcfu ~ lN0 + log10(1 - (1 - 10^(k * t))^m), data = cfu_data, : step factor 0.000488281 reduced below 'minFactor' of 0.000976562 Tried to increase minFactor

nls NAs
Hi- I am using the following code: start=c(alpha=0.4,beta=0.4) warm.10<-nls(warming$umoles60~alpha*exp(beta*warming$T10cm),start = start,data=warming,na.action=na.omit) This code works for other columns in my dataset that are similar to $T10cm but the code does not work for this particular column (T10cm). I am assuming this is because warming$T10cm contains NAs. I have tried just

How to use nls when [selfStart] function returns NA or Inf??
Hi Everyone, I posted this a couple of weeks ago with no responses. My interface (via gmane) seemed a bit flakey at the time, so I'm venturing to repost with some additional information. I'm trying to write selfStart non-linear models for use with nls. In these models some combinations of parameter values are illegal; the function value is undefined. That's OK when calling the

The joys of Nabble: Re: Cannot use negative argument in function

Problem with converting grib file to excel
Dear R users; I have downloaded a grib file format (Met.grib) and I want to export its data to excel file. Also I want to do some mathematic on some columns. But I got error. I would be more than happy if anyone can help me to do this. I have provided the codes and the Met.grib file in this email. Sincerely yours # Load the necessary libraries > library(raster) # For reading GRIB files

You might try posting on r-sig-geo if you don't get a satisfactory response here. I assume there's a lot of expertise there on handling raster-type data. "Rotated Lat-Lon" projection in mapproj
Hi, I'm trying to plot a field obtained from the atmospheric model WRF-NMM which uses a "Rotated Lat-Lon? map projection. The WRF documentation mentions that: ? Rotates the earth's lat/lon grid such that the intersection of the equator and prime meridian is at the center of the model domain. ? Within the rotated framework the grid spacing is constant, but in an earth-relative

Problem with converting grib file to excel
Noticeable lack of silence in the group on this one. I've not got time to test currently. But my experience of geo location files - they often had more than 2 dimensional data. In other words you might have a boundary of a region as an object with long and lat for maybe 100 data points making up the region. So 200 pieces of data. All held as a list or something similar in a single

At least for me the dataset file did not come through. I will look at it if it can be made available. It does look like the finial step of reading the data into raster failed, so then did the rest of th commands. -Roy > On Sep 25, 2024, at 3:24 PM, CALUM POLWART <polc1410 at gmail.com> wrote: > > Noticeable lack of silence in the group on this one. > > I've not got

Using "apply" instead of "for" loop / multithreading
Hello , I'm new to R and don't really understand how to use the function "apply" instead of a "for loop", particularly for a function with multiple entries. I have a big data file and would like to apply a function in multi thread to accelerate the processus. I have a data frame containing values of* CO2 in ppm (resp[i,6])* that I want to convert in umol of CO2

Problem with converting grib file to excel
Dear all; Many thanks for your responses. Actually it is not completely a GIS file, it is a data file which stores meteorological data of a specific region. But the site allows downloading with grib format and as I searched to read this type of file in R, I found the Raster Package. In python it is possible to do this using cdsapi and xarray library, but I am not familiar with python. Sincerely
