HowTo: Grub Installation for CentOS 5 and 6
Hello: I've completed the HowTo "Grub Installation for CentOS 5 and 6", currently at http://wiki.centos.org/YvesBellefeuille/Grub_Installation I'd like to suggest that an appropriate location would be in the HowTos, section 17, Misc. (It doesn't seem to fit neatly anywhere else.) I couldn't figure out how to do the two internal links at the very bottom, so please

Grub Installation for CentOS 5 and 6 HowTo
Hello: As I mentioned, I consider the Grub Installation for CentOS 5 and 6 HowTo to be ready. It's now at http://wiki.centos.org/YvesBellefeuille/Grub_Installation ; I'd like to suggest that an appropriate location would be in the HowTos, section 17, Misc. New Grub Installation How-To
Hello: I've written a Grub Installation How-To, and I'd like to post at least a draft version. The information presently at http://wiki.centos.org/TipsAndTricks/InstallFromGRUB is somewhat related, but my How-To is much more detailed. The information at "Tips and Tricks: Installation Tips" is most closely related to what I prepared, so I suggest that a new page entitled

Updating information on Skype in HowTo
Hello: My user name is YvesBellefeuille. I'd like to edit the information on using Skype under CentOS 6 at http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Skype . The current information is based on http://www.openfusion.net/2009/09/19#fn.html , which was written in 2009 and is no longer accurate. Here are two examples: (1) it's no longer necessary to install qt4; (2) the packages to be installed are

Skype on CentOS 6
Hi: I've finished the changes about installing Skype on CentOS 6. Thanks. (Except that I still think that this information should be moved in the list of HowTos from section 17, "Misc.", to section 18, "Non CentOS Applications".) The package xmlrpc-c-client-1.16.24-1206.1840.el5_7.4.i386 from the CR repository requires curl >= 7.15.5-9.el5_7.4, which isn't available. The most recent version of curl I see is 7.15.5-9.el5_6.3, also in the CR repository. The CentOS "contrib" repository
According to the Wiki, the CentOS contrib repository "contains packages contributed by CentOS users which do not overlap with any of the core distribution packages". The repository seems to be empty. Are contributions actually welcome? Are there any policies about proposing packages? Thanks, -- Yves Bellefeuille <yan at storm.ca> "La Esperanta Civito ne rifuzas anticipe

Skype's no-redistribution policy
Hello: Skype for Linux version 4 has recently been released. An RPM package has been made, and it's mentioned in the Wiki: http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Skype#head- a08dbc518378653842007a2eec37bc32e13c0bd0 However, Microsoft claims to prohibit redistribution of Skype (http://www.skype.com/intl/en-us/legal/terms/tou/ , subsection 4.2). My feeling is that the Wiki shouldn't mention

Format for giving examples of commands

Correction to HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey
There's a mistake in HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey , so I'd like to ask that someone fix it, or that I be given editing rights. The mistake is that in the section on CentOS 6, step 8, the correct command is "syslinux /dev/sdb1" (only). Also, although this isn't a mistake, I'd like to suggest mentioning in step 1 that the reason why part of the USB key has to be formatted

GRUB Timeout problem
I recently installed CentOS 5.1 on a DL71 ASI notebook. After my yum update the timeout parameter in /boot/grub/grub.conf file has no effect. It sits at the grub screen forever unless I press the enter key to select a kernel, at which point it will boot. Any help or suggestions to fix this would be much appreciated CentOS release 5.2 (Final) Kernel 2.6.18-92.1.18.el5 on an i686 # grub.conf

Hi all, I thought to have tested this a while ago but I guess not. I have a Centos 5.3 system (call its SYSA) software raid 0, 2 disks. I have an identical system (SYSB) else were, so I pull one of my mirrors drives from SYSA and put it in SYSB as the only drive in SYSB. Upon but I get grub error. Can't get Grub work on clone of machine
Hi. I have cloned a RHEL 5.6 physical server over to a ESXi 5.0 Virtual Machine. Using a live CD on the new Virtual Machine I created 3 partition /boot (/dev/sda1), / (/dev/sda2) and swap (/dev/sda3), I then mounted the / (sda2) partition and created the /boot directory and mount the boot partition partition /dev/sda1 into /boot. I then used rsync to copy the source machine over to the Virtual

[PATCH 0/23] factor and const-correctness
This started as a simple warning-elimination change. I'll get back to that series shortly ;-) It turned into a factorization and constification exercise during which I got a taste of ocaml. Thanks to Rich Jones for help with a few snippets in generator.ml. The overall result is that many previously-manually-maintained bits from daemon/*.c functions are now hoisted into the automatically-

[PATCH 1/2] generator: Simplify the handling of string parameters.
Previously we had lots of types like String, Device, StringList, DeviceList, etc. where Device was just a String with magical properties (but only inside the daemon), and DeviceList was just a list of Device strings. Replace these with some simple top-level types: String StringList and move the magic into a subtype. The change is mechanical, for example: old
