disable zlib via config to allow per mailbox compression level
Hello Dovecot v2.0.5 zlib_save_level = 6 # 1..9 zlib_save = gz # or bz2 Is there a config option to disable zlib, even if above config are in place? If so please provide an example. If no, would it be possible to add one? Like if zlib_save_level = 0 disable zlib. So one can configure per mailbox compression level via sql database. KuiZ Thanks

Multiple Concurrent IMAP Connections For Same User
Hi I've been using courier for some time, but have just built a new box and am using dovecot (V1.2.9), Ubuntu 10.04LTS. I have a question regarding multiple concurrent imap connections and how to get dovecot to behave in the same way that courier does. I have searched the wiki, but find little relevant to my specific issue. Courier-Imap Behaviour If I have thunderbird pointed at the

Also - is there a reliable way for TB to know it is connecting to a dovecot server?
This would be so it could auto-disable GLODA - its new 'Global Search and Indexing' scheme - for that account - assuming they accept (and implement) my bug request to be able to do that: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=544100

extra fields with "passwd" userdb
Hi, I am planning a migration of ~600 accounts to mdbox (from maildir) and was hoping to do some initial testing of certain account. I am hoping to use extra fields to migrate certain accounts in advance for testing, and I can't find info on setting up extra fields with the "passwd" backend. Is this possible, or will I have to use another approach?

About using Dovecot indexes with Thunderbird/kmail
I have Dovecot running well on my Mandriva mail hub, handing out IMAP to the household LAN. This is 1.2.15. Eventually I'll upgrade the OS and get 2.x, but this is working fine. So this question is really about the mail readers I use and how they make use of Dovecot. I have Thunderbird on my laptop and KMail2 on my desktop. Dovecot indexes. GOOD! The trouble is that the mail readers

windows imap clients
All, This is slightly OT, but I figure a bunch of folks running IMAP servers should have some strong opinions on the topic. While working on a migration to Dovecot, I had the opportunity to move one account to a server running same. This is an in-house billing department box that 3-4 people share. In theory, this should work well - all the billing folks see the same email, save sent mail

neg-bin clustered analysis in R?
Dear All, I'm analysing a negative binomial dataset from a population-based study. Many covariates were determined on household level, so all members of a household have the same value for those covariates. In STATA, there seems to be an option for 'clustered analysis' for neg-bin regression. Does an equivalent exist for R(MASS)'s glm.nb or a comparable function? Many thanks for

Thunderbird message cache out of sync after repetitive rsyncs...
Ok, hopefully there is a solution to this. I've been experimenting with multiple rsyncs in preparation for pulling the trigger on the mail server switch, but have a problem that I really want to fox before doing so. Apparently something causes Thunderbirds local message cache to get out of sync with dovecot after a sync. Here is the series of commands I'm running: 1. stop postfix,

looking for cool, post-install things to do on a centos 5.5 system
(note: i asked this a few days ago but it *appears* that that post was tossed due to getting excessive bounces from my account. so i'm posting it again, apologies if you're seeing it a second time.) over the next several weeks, i'm teaching some courses in RHEL admin but (unsurprisingly) i'll be using centos 5.5. it's a decently-written, 3rd party course, all the generic,

NT domain, Win10 1903 and profiles...
Not only NT domains, but also Samba 3.6! Wow! I'm a retro-sysadmin! ;-) I know i'm asking a rather hard thinks but... we are upgrading, but also solving some troubles. We have ''decently'' integrated some W10 1803 in a NT domain, but now with some other 1903 there's no way to make roaming profiles work. Looking at samba logs, seems that the client don't try at

Ext3 and 3ware RAID5
I run a decent amount of 3ware hardware, all under centos-4. There seems to be some sort of fundamental disagreement between ext3 and 3ware's hardware RAID5 mode that trashes write performance. As a representative example, one current setup is 2 9550SX-12 boards in hardware RAID5 mode (256KB stripe size) with a software RAID0 stripe on top (also 256KB chunks). bonnie++ results look

[LLVMdev] Cygwin support completely dropped?
Hi there it seems that it has been sometime that anyone had success with building llvm (2.0 or 2.1 prerelease) on Cygwin/XP. i have been using gcc-4.0.2 with no success. is anyone working on Cygwin or not? i feel that having Cygwin as a supported platform is at least misleading since noone is building on Cygwin. I recall llvm-1.4 to 1.6 building decently on Cygwin even with gcc-3.3.3. Kind

SCTP support for the common openssh source?
Greetings, Are there any plans to import SCTP support to OpenSSH? There have been SCTP patches for OSX and FreeBSD, and those seem to work pretty decently. I guess there might quite a number of potential users for SCTP were it part of the common source tree. A second benefit of having SCTP support as a standard feature in OpenSSH for all platforms supporting SCTP would be kind of social pressure
