Random Loss of Connection with Thunderbird and Dovecot
Hi,
Dovecot Version: 1.2.16
OS: CENTOS 5.5
I am having issues with Thunderbird connecting to Dovecot at random
times. Usually an error comes up and states that Thunderbird cannot
connect to the server. The only way I have been able to fix this is
reset/repair the network connection or reboot the computer. Is there any
parameters I can change in Dovecot to fix this issue? Does anyone know

Mails don't get deleted after POP3
Hi, there!
Well, I am new to dovecot, so please be patient with me:
I have a virtual server and want to setup simple mail delivery.
postfix, saslauthd and dovecot basically work fine.
The only open issue is, that (I guess) dovecot doesn't remove the
mail when it's retrieved via pop3 from the server.
It keeps sending me the same emails again and again.
(The mail client (Thunderbird) is

deleted messages not going away in Thunderbird?
Hi folks. This may be a dumb question, but I can't seem to find a clue.
I'm running Dovecot v1.2.9 and Thunderbird v3.1.7. If I delete
messages using a different IMAP client (I also use an iPhone and
occasionally SquirrelMail), I would expect those messages to disappear
from Thunderbird the next time I start it or click on "Get Mail". In
fact, they do...most of the

Thunderbird randomly segfaults at startup
I haven't seen this, but I'm curious if it has something to do with
your configuration. What I would suggest trying is working from a clean
config.
mv ~/.thunderbird ~/.thunderbird.backup
Try it like that. If it starts correctly, then it is your config and
you'll probably have to recreate your config to make it work. If it
doesn't, then rename

Faster way to import Thunderbird pop emails into dovecot imap Maildirs?
Until recently, I was using POP on my desktop and imap to access my email
on my phone and laptop. Got tired of not having everything everywhere, so
decided to go full imap.
Followed the suggestions online and created a new imap account for my site
in Thunderbird and copied my pop folders over to the imap ones so that the
emails would get uploaded to the dovecot server and Maildir folders.

Replication: Mails deleted over POP3 aren't deleted at the same time from the second server
Hi,
I have two Dovecot 2.3.8 (on RHEL 8.2) servers. Replication works great
except in one situation.
What works:
* If one server receives an email, it is immediately available on the other
server.
* If an email is deleted via IMAP from one server, it is immediately
deleted from the other server.
What doesn't work:
If a user retrieves (download + delete) an email via POP3 (Thunderbird),
then

Deleted / read mails show up as new on remote imap clients
Hi,
I've one problem:
Mails, which I already read or deleted via my IMAP client (Thunderbird)
on the same machine running the server (it runs behind DynDNS on my
local machine, thanks to http://mein.homelinux.com/wiki/mailserver/)
show up again if I connect via IMAP from other client computers, i.e. my
notebook (Thunderbird again).
As you can see from the config below I have

Dovecot POP3 STARTTLS works on Thunderbird but not on Gmail
Hello,
I have configured Dovecot to work perfectly on Thundrebird using SSL
certificates with STARTTLS on port 110. When I try to add this account on
Gmail I get the error:

Can't get Thunderbird 2 to delete a folder under mdbox (Dovecot 2.0beta5)
I have built Dovecot 2.0 and installed it under "/opt/dovecot2".
I have done the minimum configurations necesary to get it to work with
SSL, systems users but with a secondary password database, and set up
mail location as "mdbox:~/dbox".
I had to create the directory "dbox" in the

False "new mail" warning from Thunderbird, using RC23
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

I am continually getting false "New Mail" warning from Thunderbird.
I'm running Thunderbird 1.5.0.9 on Windows, and it's talking to two
different Dovecot 1.0.RC23 servers (one home server, one work server).
This was happening in older Dovecot versions too, so it's not new in RC23.
Very often, Thunderbird will pop up the

problem with dovecot and thunderbird while deleting
Hello!
I have very strange problem with dovecot and thunderbird while deleting
messages. The problem is that they are not actually deleted from storage
filesystem and if I later run mutt I can perfectly see them, though
marked with 'D', so mutt ask to delete them on exit and this time they
dissapear from filesystem. I enabled in thunderbird 'remove it
iimediately' feature, but

deleting folders containing subfolders with thunderbird (mbox format) bug

dovecot-0.99.13-3.FC3 I am having problems deleting folders which have
been created with the 'Allow your new folder to contain: Folders only'
option picked.
The folder appears to get deleted but upon restarting Thunderbird the
folder still appears to be there but clicking on it I get the error:

Transferring Thunderbird mail accounts: Windows vs. Linux
Hi,
One of my clients brought me his PC with Windows 7, so I can migrate it
to Linux, e. g. CentOS 7 + KDE. So far I made a backup of all the data,
but I wonder how I can migrate the existing Thunderbird account.
An operation I perform quite regularly is replace an existing Linux
system (Ubuntu, openSUSE, Fedora, whatever) by CentOS. When Thunderbird
is configured, I just backup the whole

noticed an issue.

Best practise for deleting with Thunderbird
As I mentioned in another thread I set up these 2 namespaces for a
couple of users:
namespace {
inbox = yes

prefix =
separator = /
type = private
}
namespace {
location =
maildir:/home/vmail/oeffentlich:INDEXPVT=/home/vmail/public/index/%d/%u/index
prefix = Oeffentlich/
separator = /
subscriptions = yes
type = public
}
It is planned that they all will use
