Misleading error message when case-insensitive file/dir names from config files clash with case-sensitive file system.
Hi,
Is it noted somewhere that Dovecot (v 2.0.9) doesn?t use case in directory names in its config-files?
I found that out the hard way (i.e. a week of debugging)!!
in /etc/dovecot/conf.d/10-master.conf, the line:
unix_listener /var/spool/postOut/auth/dovecot-auth {
creates a:
Jul 29 22:15:58 server dovecot: master: Error: service(auth): unlink(/var/run/dovecot/) failed: Is a directory

load balancing CIFS/Samba
Hi Folks,
I'm trying out some ideas for loadbalancing Samba servers with some
replication underneath. Right now, we're trying to use DNS round robin,
just to see if it works, but it isn't.
Our basic config is that we have the same share and NMB server name on
every node. Each node has a different IP hostname, which are all
round-robin'ed to a single hostname. When we try to

Single bandwidth pipe
Hi all,
Can someone help me in creating a single bandwidth
pipe out of two or more bandwidth providers.
Say, I have 2 internet connections
1) 128 K
2) 128 K
I want to use both of them on a single linux box.
Is there any way to do so.
Of course loadbalancing can be done, but I don''t want
loadbalancing. I want to have a single pipe of 256 K.
Some time back I was suggested to use squid on

crashes on 2.0.16
Hey all, I upgraded some servers today from Debian Lenny to Debian Squeeze, and after the upgrade I started getting dovecot crashes. I was on 2.0.13 but got these there as well, and hoped upgrading to 2.0.16 would help. It didn't. Anyone have an idea?

Largescale Asterisk setup - 1000 external lines
Hi there
Does anyone know if it is possible to install a largescale asterisk cluster
with up to 1000 external lines.
Redundancy and loadbalancing would surely be a must for a such system, but
which other things should be considered?
Best Regards

Segfault in Sieve 1.2
Hello,
two days ago I've upgraded to 1.2rc2 and the new sieve implementation
(version 0.1.4). Today I got the first mail that got stuck in the
postfix queue because deliver was dying with a segfault.
The mail is spam, thus I don't have any issues sharing it:

It happens with this small sieve script (my normal one is larger, but

Strange routing limitations and workaroud
Hi!
I got some strange problem with routing loadbalancing.
I cannot get the full speed from my ISPs until I get some big files from
close ftp server.
I have server with one connection to internal network and 3 to ISPs:

Another way to transfer zones
Hi,
I've been working on a replacement for nsd-xfer/bind-xfer for the use
with NSD for some evenings now, and since I believe that at least some
of you do have the same problem I experienced during my transition to
NSD (that is, bind-xfer is only available in BIND8, which is sometimes a
little bit peeky in being compiled, plus the many invokations of that
program during the regular

Switchtower for production?
Hello,
The company that I work for will be developing a large webbased survey
(for a government institution) somewhere in Q1/Q2 of 2006. I''m
investigating the technological possibilities and Rails is certainly a
candidate. The survey application will have to perform under very high
peak load, and the exact specifications of the hardware are not known
at this point. I''m assuming

Segfault when using multiple servers
Should it be possible to run multiple dovecot servers on the same
mailboxes (Maildir in my case)? I've a setup where 2 dovecot 0.99.13
servers write to the same mailboxes, which dovecot apparently does not
like too much.
Example (using imap):
- Login with mail client on server1
- Login with webmail on server2
- Delete a mail using webmail on server2
- Hit send/receive in the mail client

Multiple ISP Links - Gateway Not Getting Restored
I have been successfully implementing load balancing gateways for
multiple ISP links at various locations using Julian''s patches and as
suggested in LARTC HowTo. At one location, one of the ISPs is providing
connectivity through a PPOE DSL link which has to be dialled in
everytime to connect. The gateway has been configured on a Fedora Core 3
based system and I have recompiled the
