Dovecot tuning for GFS2
Hello,
I'm deploing a new email cluster using Dovecot over GFS2. Actually I'm
using courier over GFS.
Actually I'm testing Dovecot with these parameters:
mmap_disable = yes
mail_fsync = always
mail_nfs_storage = yes
mail_nfs_index = yes
lock_method = fcntl
Are they correct?
RedHat GFS support mmap, so is it better to enable it or leave it disabled?
The documentation suggest the

mmap in GFS2 on rhel 6.1
Hello list, we continue our tests using Dovecot on a RHEL 6.1 Cluster
Backend with GFS2, also we are using dovecot as a Director for user node
persistence, everything was ok until we started stress testing the solution
with imaptest, we had many deadlocks, cluster filesystems corruptions and
hangs, specially in index filesystem, we have configured the backend as if
they were on a NFS like setup

High Load average on NFS Spool - v.2.1.15 & 2.2.13
I have two servers pointing to an NFS mounted mail spool with dovecot.?
Since I recently switched from using Dovecot v1.X, I have been
experiencing high CPU use with the two Dovecot servers. I am not certain
why they are not well behaved.? Here is the configuration information.
This configuration is currently running at a load average of 17.

I stream read - stale NFS file handle
Hi,
I am running dovecot/postfix/amavisd within a jail on freebsd. I have a
nullfs mounted within the jail that links back to an NFS server.
I am constantly getting these errors and my mail never gets delivered. I
am hoping someone has a fix for me!

NFS mail storage
The parameters listed for nfs installations (mmap_disable,
doctlock_use_excl, mail_nfs_storage, mail_nfs_index) - are they
necessary for data integrity, and/or do they compensate for NFS latency
and improve performance?
My understanding is the indexes are a critical part of a dbox storage,
but on the other hand having local indexes is a major performance
consideration. Is maildir a

VirtualBox on XEN DomU
Hi,
although it is primarily a VirtualBox problem, but maybe someone knows
the answer here.
I read that it is not possible to run vbox on dom0.
http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/2383
Is it possible to run it on domU?
Thanks,
Miklos

Yes, multiple imap servers using one shared nfs storage. With the same
config on 2.2.13 the public interface traffic was similar to the storage
interface, around 100 mbps.
After we switch to 2.2.27 the storage interface traffic jumped 10 times
while the public interface stayed the same. This make us thinking that
something is wrong and each time a user logs in the whole Inbox content

mailbox_list_index = yes

Many "Error: Corrupted index cache file /XXX/dovecot.index.cache: invalid record size"
Hi all,
I just joigned this list, so I'm sorry if this problem has already been
reported.
I'm running Dovecot 2.0.13 on many servers, one for POP/IMAP access,
others for LDA, others for authentification only, etc.
All servers are accessing a shared file system, based on MooseFS
(www.moosefs.org). The FS is mounted using FUSE.
All my Dovecot servers have this configuration :

Multi Server Exim/Dovecot and NFS
In reading the Dovecot NFS WIKI entry:
http://wiki2.dovecot.org/NFS
It mentions a FreeBSD NFS client caching bug. I believe that bug only exists pre-8.x ? It seems that a patch in the PR notes was MFC'd and made it into 8.x at some point. (at least I checked the source in 8.3 and it was there). So I assume that FreeBSD 8.x mitigates the issue? Maybe not?
So our deployment is multi

Dovecot cluster using GlusterFS
Hello,
I have recently setup mailserver solution using 2-node master-master
setup (mainly based on MySQL M-M replication and GlusterFS with 2
replica volume) on Ubuntu 14.04 (Dovecot 2.2.9).
Unfortunately even with shared-storage-aware setting:

mail_nfs_storage = yes
mail_fsync = always
mmap_disable = yes

Maildir on NFS - attribute caching question
Hi Timo,
We've been running Dovecot with Maildir on NFS for quite a while - since
back in the 1.0 days I believe. I'm somewhat new here. Anyway...
The Wiki article on NFS states that 1.1 and newer will flush attribute
caches if necessary with mail_nfs_storage=yes. We're running 1.2.8 with
that set, as well as mail_nfs_index=yes, mmap_disable=yes and
fsync_disable=no. We have a pool

Invalid old index files
Hi,
i'm in the process of evaluating dovecot. I have a rather big testing
environment with four dovecot director frontend instances and four
dovecot backend instances. Mailboxes are all in mdbox format and stored
on nfs. Indexes are stored locally. dovecot nfs setup for high
performance is used (mmap_disable = no, dotlock_use_excl = yes,
mail_nfs_storage = yes, mail_nfs_index = no).
