question on quota configuration on 2.0.5
Hi,
On dovecot 1.2 i had the following configuration on my
dovecot-sql.conf file:
password_query = select endereco as user, password, '/var/spool/mail/%u'
as userdb_home, 'maildir:/var/spool/mail/%u' as userdb_mail, 8 as
userdb_uid, 12 as userdb_gid, concat('*:storage=', quota) as
userdb_quota_rule, 'Trash:storage=100M' as userdb_quota_rule2 from

Trash and quota
I can't seem to find the magic combination to get dovecot to ignore the
trash folder when counting quota. I've got 1.0rc15 and using maildir
quotas. Not being able to trash messages when over quota is quite
annoying.
the docs suggest the following:
plugin {
quota = maildir:storage=10240:ignore=Trash
}
but as my quotas are defined per user via mysql DB, I'm thinking that I
need a

IMAP proxy configuration
i know dovecot can act as IMAP and POP3 proxy ..... but i'm having
a hard time configuring it. Actually i'm using a simple dovecot
configuration with virtual users stored on MySQL. My dovecot-sql.conf is
pretty simple:
[root at correio dovecot]# cat dovecot-sql.conf
driver = mysql
connect = host=localhost dbname=DATABASE user=USERNAME password=PASSWORD

Trash plugin unexpected results
Does indeed sound bit strange, will have to try replicate this to see
what happens.

Trash plugin unexpected results
I have the trash plugin enabled and testing it out I had an account with
a 30MB quota.? In the accounts trash it had an email with a large
attachment.? I sent the same email again to the account expecting the
trash plugin to purge the message from trash to make space for the new
message in the inbox.? However I got an error saying it couldn't remove
enough trash to make space.? This

Quota and Trash
Hi,
I finally got a grip on our mail guys to try out Dovecot after they
started migrating a ~15k user mailsystem to Maildir+NFS (Netapp)+Courier
and the performance was not as good as expected. So far the results are
impressive, although there are of course a few small issues to be
solved.
One is the current Quota handling, which they use with Courier IMAP and

Dovecot 1.2 - Quotas - Ignoring Trash folder
Hello guys,
Firstly I would like to state that I am fairly new to Dovecot. I have played
around with it in the past here and there but mainly with debian packages.
I have compiled this version of Dovecot from source, so please go easy with
me.
Ok now down to my questions:
I am having trouble getting Dovecot to 'ignore' the Trash folder when
summing up the used quota for a user.

trash plugin
The trash plugin docs say:
"Normally if a message can't be saved/copied because it would bring user over quota, the save/copy fails with "Quota exceeded" error. The trash plugin can be used to avoid such situations by making Dovecot automatically expunge oldest messages from configured mailboxes until the message can be saved"
This leads me to believe that if a message

But the user can move more that 512000B on the Trash folder

trash plugin not doing it's job
I enabled the trash plugin yesterday, adding "trash" to mail_plugins,
and configuring the plugin setting "trash =
/etc/dovecot/dovecot-trash.conf.ext".
But I still see users with lots of files in INBOX.Trash getting
bounced because of quota exceeded:

Dovecot 1.1.4 / Maildir++ quota and move to trash
Hello,
Seems there is some nasty problems with Dovecot 1.1.4...
We use Maildir++ quota, and when moving mail to Trash, Dovecot just
drop the connection... when the maildir is overquota.
Is there any way to avoid that and just move the mail to the trash
allowing user to expunge their mail easily without calling support to
do rm -rf Maildir/cur ?
Thanks,
/Xavier

rewrite copy to trash->delete->expunge mail with move??
Hello Everyone:
????? When user got quota exceed and trying to delete mail. Most MUA's
default "move to trash folder" will proceed by copy mail to trash
folder,then by delete/expunge it(copy before expunge). Unfortunately
this will not success due to quota exceed. Is there any way to let
dovecot proceed it by IMAP MOVE instead of "copy to trash

trash plugin bug?
Hey all, has anyone ever tried turning on the trash plugin when the directory is already over quota? I see some messages being deleted, but it seems it just deletes enough to fit the new email, not enough to go below quota. Example:
. getquotaroot "Spam"
* QUOTAROOT "Spam" "User quota" "Spam Quota"
* QUOTA "User quota" (STORAGE 591036 5242880)
