dovecot/vpopmail lastauth
Hi All,
I have dovecot working wonderfully on a qmail/vpopmail, but I've noticed
my 'lastauth' is never filled in.. If I use vpopmail's pop, and auth to
that, then 'lastauth' is updated. It just seems weird that if dovecot
is using the vpopmail lib, that lastauth wouldn't be updated.
Has anyone else run into this?
Thanks

Help - custom vpopmail
Hi,
First, I'm not sure if dovecot should alter this, but it seems vpopmail
writes the IP into the 'remote_ip' field instead of the auth type. Dovecot
still writes the auth type.? I want both.
So I modified my vpopmail install to write an additional field into the
lastauth table.? My custom vpopmail writes the remote IP into remote_ip,
and the auth type into a 'type'

vpopmail "last auth" question
Hello,
I run the domain for the school here with qmail and vpopmail on FreeBSD
with dovecot from the ports.
I'm running dovecot 1.0.r26 and everything is working great.
I been noticing that dovecot isn't updating when the user last logged
in.. and I can't seem to figure out why. I also can't seem to find
anything in the archives about it.. so am I the only one?

Dovecot rejecting Vpopmail User 89
I'm working to get Dovecot 2.0.13 working along with qmail, Vpopmail and
Squirrelmail on a Debian 6.0.2 system, Dovecot compiled, not from a
package.
Vpopmail has a widely known assigned user/group ID of 89 and is the owner
of all the mail folders.
Regardless of value of first_valid_uid (1, 89, other), Dovecot denies
Squirrelmail connection, saying it can't allow access to UID 89.

Vpopmail auth with vchkpw
Hey Guys,
I'm using vpopmail, and was told here that I need to use the vchkpw
passwd module to authenticate AND get my lastauth data updated.
It works like a charm, but I've come across another minor issue.
vchkpw sets the 'connection-type' based on the variable TCPLOCALPORT
If that's not set, it defaults to pop. What this does in my environment
is cause someone who is

BUG: passdb checkpassword {} and lastauth file
(Repeat, because on the first message there was no reaction)
Hi.
If checkpassword interface is used for working with vpopmail, function
vpopmail "Record time and ip of last auth attempt"
(--enable-auth-logging option for configure) won't work - the file
"lastauth" is created in Maildir, but does not contain ip-address. If I

imap and vpopmail: per-domain auth
Hi, i have qmail + vpopmail + dovecot + squirrelmail 0.99.14 on Fedora
Core 4. Qmail includes its own pop3 server, and everybody is able to
access it from outside. Dovecot is used only locally by SquirrelMail -
so everybody can access via webmail.
I'd like to make imap directly available from outside, but only for a
few selected domains (NOT ip addresses!), while leaving everyone able to

dovecot, vpopmail and djb's tcpserver
Hello!
I've tried to set up dovecot in conjuction with vpopmail, and running it
under djb's tcpserver instead of (x)inetd.
Btw - there was no reference to setting dovecot up using (x)inetd either in
the manuals/faqs i read, though I didn't search all that hard. Anyway, back
to my Q:
vpopmail uses vchkpw as an authentication mechanism, and with tcpserver I

Problem installing latest dovecot w vpopmail
Hello -
I am trying to migrate my dovecot installation from an older server
running version 1.x to the latest 2.0.3
When I run configure --with-vpopmail, it bombs pretty quick as follows:
./configure --with-vpopmail
checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
checking for a thread-safe mkdir -p... /bin/mkdir -p

dovecot + vpopmail
I was just wondering how dovecot interacts with vpopmail. Does it just call the vchkpw and pass the username and password to it then wait for a it to tell dovecot weather the user is vaild or not ? Does vchkpw pass back the users homedir ?
PS. My plan is to just replace vchkpw with a script/program of own. that dovecot can call to auth a user again xmail passwd file. And using "auth_passdb

vpopmail over NFS not seeing new messages.
Hi all.
We've just migrated our back-end NFS mailstore from FC1 systems to
CentOS4 and are experiencing problems/delays with vpopmail and user
Maildirs. IMAP is fine, it's just POP access that causes us problems.
Now, NFS mounts successfully, the clients can see /home/vpopmail and
serve content as we would expect. IMAP works perfectly and sees new
messages as soon as they're

dovecot and vpopmail
Hello
Does dovecot know to expand %d in default_mail_env to
the default vpopmail domain in case the user logs without
attaching the @domain in his login ?
I last tried this on an old dovecot and this didn't work...

files permission and hidden files are not rsync properly
Hi folks,
I have recently installed rsync.2.6.9. on CentOS4.x boxes. That was my
first backup yesterday.
But I notice that some hidden (or dot files) are not copied to the other
host on the network. And group and ownership of the files are changed to
?nobody? while files and folders permission are copied properly. So what
am mission here can anybody shed light please?
Here is the result;

clarify 'type', 'executable' & 'path' in 2.0 master.conf?
@2.0's master.conf, there's, e.g.,

can someone please explain function/usage for the 'type', 'executable'

Dovecot doesn't use vchkpw properly :(
Hey all,
It seems that dovecot does NOT call vchkpw properly when using
vpopmail-style authentication, I can only guess that it reads the
vpasswd{,.cdb} files directly. This is indicated by the syslog log
for the mail facitily which reads:
Jun 30 16:51:30 [vpopmail] vchkpw-smtp: (PLAIN) login success
blah at blah.com:24.17.153.137
Jun 30 17:16:25 [pop3-login] Login: blah at blah.com

problems with SSH-based clustering dovecot 2.1.1
Hello,
I'm using dovecot 2.1.1 with vpopmail 5.4.30 with multiples domains and I
have problems setting up synchronization in between multiple computers.
All act like master (my clients can connect to any of the them and read
their emails either via POP3 either via IMAP, inbound email gets on any of
the machines). Each machine is on a different continent, there is no
shared drive in between
