Maildir permissions and Solr re-indexing
I am running a very small dovecot installation with only one user (me).
I use the Solr indexer for indexing. Due to complicated reasons, I was
forced to remove all the indexes and need to re-index everything.
All the files in my Maildir are owned by md5i:mail (I am md5i), and have
660 permissions. All directories have the same user:group permissions,
and 770 with the setguid bit set. (That

fchown() failed
Hello all,
I'm not sure if this question is better posed to a Fedora group because
I have only had this problem since I upgraded from F9 to F11, but I
figured that the specialised knowledge here might help me more...
I have been getting these entries in syslog since upgrading. Today for
instance I got:

deliver and cloning file permissions
Hi!
I'd like to use deliver (dovecot-1.2.10) as LDA to deliver mails to my
local users on my postfix-system.
However, deliver tries to copy the filesystem permissions of the
mail-spool-files to the user's index files, which doesn't work, since
the files in /var/mail/ belong to the group 'mail'.

[PATCH 2/5] ocfs2/dlm: add lockres as parameter to dlm_new_lock()
Wether the dlm_lock needs to access lvb or not depends on dlm_lock_resource it belongs to. So a new parameter "struct dlm_lock_resource *res" is added to dlm_new_lock() so that we can know if we need to allocate lvb for the dlm_lock. And we have to make the lockres availale for calling dlm_new_lock().

Occasional fchown errors?
Hi:
I get the occasional error below. Is there something I don't have
configured correctly? Or should I just ignore this? It is not always
this file, sometimes it is the cache.lock file or the log.newlock file.
I have a mail client running on my computer and my phone at the same
time, could that have something to do with it?

Configuration problem for secure virtual server
Hello,
i want to configure a virtual mailsystem on an debian server with exim and dovecot.
Because it is running on a V-Server, i want to store everythink in a LUKS encrypted contrainer.
So i created a group crypt with the members Debian-exim (107), dovecot, (other users with encrypted content)
All mails should be stored in /mail in the mounted container.
Dovecot has this configuration:

flock problems with index files and passwd-file
While experimenting a bit, I found that for some reason, locking indexes
with flock is problematic, but only if user is taken from passwd-file.
The host system is openbsd 3.9, dovecot's configuration is added at the
bottom.
Authentication is from two places - first from mentioned passwd-file,
then from passwd file using bsdauth (in this case, there're no problems
with flock). So, if

Fedora 9 -> Centos 7 upgrade Dovecot problem
Hi all,
I'm upgrading my old F9 mail server to Centos 7 and all is going well.
However, I've got a problem with recently created users.
I've rsync'd /home and /var/spool/mail after moving /etc/passwd and /etc/group
I used the default locations on the old F9 server, i.e. mail delivered
to /var/spool/mail/%u by EXIM and Dovecot using that as the inbox.
Dovecot then used ~/mail/

Hi guys!
I started to have the problem above last October, 2th.
I don´t know why and how, because it was saturday. So, my file server
stoped to authenticate against the Samba4 AD.
Today, all shares was stopped and then i restarted my Samba4 AD and the
file server.
All became to work again.
But it im afraid because the problem started by itself.
Thanks!

winbind trust account password management
I'm running Samba v4.4.4 as a domain member server in security=domain
mode. Our 3 domain controllers are Server 2012r2.
Every 3-4 days, I see log messages from winbind saying
"winbind_samlogon_retry_loop: sam_logon returned ACCESS_DENIED".
Sometimes this corresponds to a trust password change, but not always.
Today, new connections to Samba were failing with the error

Stealing ownership: chown user->qemu->root
F12, libvirt 0.7.1-15, qemu 0.11.0-12, 32 bit
I recently discovered that libvirt is stealing ownership of my disk images. How can I make it stop?
I have a disk image in my home directory, owned by matt. When I create a domain that uses the disk it gets chowned to qemu.qemu. When the domain terminates it is owned by root.root. I've lost access to the file.
It has been suggested that the
