Segmentation fault in dovecot director lmtp service
Hi,
the lmtp service of our dovecot director installation quits with a
segmentation fault if a lot of mails are simultaneously delivered.
For example if the postfix mailqueue is filled (for whatever reason)
and postqueue -f is run the lmtp service quits with a segmentation
fault:
Program terminated with signal 11, Segmentation fault.

NFS, IDLE, and index locking
Hi,
I'll try to keep short. My primary question is what, in people's
experience, are the best configuration settings for to avoid potential
NFS cache locking issues in an interesting heterogeneous environment? We
appear to have a workaround for some locking issues we have seen, which
is turning off IDLE. Upgrading our version of dovecot from 1.1.4 is
likely to address some core

Options mail_nfs_storage and mail_nfs_index not in 2.2(.13) example config anymore?
Hey dovecot-users,
did I miss anything anywhere about the configuration variables
"nfs_storage" and "mail_nfs_index"
being removed from the example configuration in 2.2?
In 2.1 they where both in 10-mail.conf commented out and set to their
default "no". But with 2.2 they are not in any of the exmaple config
files anymore.
doveadm is still showing the variables and

mmap in GFS2 on rhel 6.1
Hello list, we continue our tests using Dovecot on a RHEL 6.1 Cluster
Backend with GFS2, also we are using dovecot as a Director for user node
persistence, everything was ok until we started stress testing the solution
with imaptest, we had many deadlocks, cluster filesystems corruptions and
hangs, specially in index filesystem, we have configured the backend as if
they were on a NFS like setup

nfs_flush_fcntl failed: No locks available
Hi there,
I've been seeing this error in our logs quite frequently on our nfs
storage (v3):
2008-11-10T13:24:26+00:00 mail8 dovecot: IMAP(XXX at YYY.com):
nfs_flush_fcntl: fcntl(/var/spool/mail/XXX/Maildir/dovecot.index.cache,
F_RDLCK) failed: No locks available
Which is because we don't run lockd on our servers. Why is dovecot
trying to use fcntl() ? I explicitly set it to use dotlocks

Dovecot + NFS + FreeBSD breakage ?
Hi,
I am trying to update my old mails servers from dovecot 2.1.15 to 2.2.12 (freebsd ports) and upgrade to FreeBSD 10.0-P3.
My mail storage are on NFS with index also.
On 2.1.15 everything is ok, and in 10-mail.conf I have the good things to be added as wiki tell me (eg http://wiki2.dovecot.org/NFS).
BUT, when I try a single connection like :
$ telnet ::1 110

More Dovecot 2.0 permissions issues
Hi Timo,
ok, using the latest 2.0beta6...
I can't figure out the settings for the log file to have the correct
permissions. When the log file is created, it is created owned by root
and 0600 permissions, which doesn't allow the lda to write to it if I
use different users and groups for that main config...
If I then chmod the log file to 666, then everything is happy, but
again, if that

samba-4.1.19: resolving local unix group failes when there exists a local unix user with same name
Hi,
after upgrading samba from 4.1.17 to 4.1.19 on OpenSuSE 13.2, any shares offered by this machine can nolonger be accessed, when these shares contain an entry "force group" which specifies a local unix group and when there exists a unix user with the same name.
Here's an excerpt from smb.conf:

Poor pop3 over nfs performance
Hi,
About a week ago I upgraded our reasonably heavily loaded mail servers
from a pretty recent courier version to dovecot-1.1rc10. IMAP
performance on dovecot is amazing, however POP3 performance is worse
than courier :-( I have uploaded some munin graphs taken today to
http://linweb.atlas.pipex.net/dovecot/; the dovecot server is handling
about 2000 pop logins/sec and 300 imap sessions (but

NFS performance and 1.1.3 - what can you (unofficially) get away with?
Hi,
Does anyone have experience with bending the NFS recommendations to get
better performance?
The question is has anyone, with Maildir and the INDEX= on NFS (i.e.
dovecot.index and dovecot.index.cache, set mail_nfs_index to no. If so,
was it better to turn maildir_copy_preserve_filename to on or did it
help to turn if off. The other question is did you play with turning off

Adding Printer Drivers for existing Printers (Win2000, WinNT x86)
Hi List!
I've got a problem that I've read about on the web several times now,
regarding the uploading of printer drivers to the samba [print$] share.
When I try to set the printer driver for an existing printer (HP
LaserJet 6L enabled with CUPS) the W2K wizard let me select the driver
*.inf file but when finishing I get the well known error message:

It seems to work ok on some accounts, but then I'm getting the following
error in the deliver error log for many accounts :

3.0.2rc1, LDAP, Solaris 9 and secondary group problem - Bug 395?
Hi,
we have tested Samba 3.0.0 and 3.0.1 with LDAP-Support (--with-ldap) on
Solaris 8 and it worked fine.
The machine authenticates against an OpenLDAP server. Patch 108993-23 is
applied and we use native Sun LDAP client modules.
On Solaris 9 we ran into problems with secondary groups. Users cannot
access files if the rights are based on a secondary group and if this
information is stored on
