Manually creating folders from terminal
I'm trying to use a script to create a mailbox structure. I'm aware that the structure should look like: ~/.maildir/.INBOX/{cur,tmp,new} ~/.maildir/.INBOX.Subfolder1/{cur,tmp,new} ~/.maildir/.INBOX.Subfolder2/{cur,tmp,new} ~/.maildir/.INBOX.Subfolder2.Subsubfolder1/{cur,tmp,new} ... I have tried manually making those directories and using the "maildirmake.dovecot" command that

Permissions incorrectly ordered on Windows after disabling inheritance
Hi everyone, I've noticed a problem with Debian wheezy + samba 3.6.6 configured with acl_xattr in my configuration. The following test sequence causes Windows Explorer to report incorrectly ordered permission entries: 1) Map a share as with "admin" user credentials to a drive letter on a Windows client 2) Create a folder at the root of the share "rootfolder" 3) Create a

Sharing nested folders / maildir variations?
Hey all, So I've got a shared namespace in dovecot where users can, via a custom control panel, share their folders into (which creates a symlink) in order to allow anyone on their domain to access it. I store mail in maildir. The issue is that when people share folders, they expect that when they make subfolders, those are automatically shared as they are contained within it.

Public Mailbox & ACLs
Hi, I'm having a problem I can't get my head around. I'm trying to setup a public mailbox that is hidden from all users unless granted access through an ACL. My folder structure is (migrated from a Courier IMAP/Qmail server): /var/spool/maildir - main public folder (contains a few .qmail files to redirect mail to the correct subfolder) /var/spool/maildir/Support - support public

How to see folders/subfolders/emails through imap
Hello all, I am trying to do something very simple - at least thats what I thought. I have some fs, it contains folders and subfolders with email files ordered like maildir. Now I try to set up dovecot on top simply to let some imap account watch these email files. But I cannot see any folders at all. I can create new folders and see them, but I cannot create subfolders as subdirs like

how to enable automatic sharing of folders added/created in an already shared folder hiearchy?
I'm running dovecot --version 2.3.11.3 (502c39af9) folder sharing is enabled & working. as long as I manually enable enable sharing for each folder/subfolder. e.g., if I enable sharing for each of: sharedtopfolder subfolder1 subfolder2 then all's good -- shared-to users can access according to set permissions. BUT, if I drag any folder under that shared-hierarchy e.g.,

Resync quota to mysql script
I changed some quota options in my dovecot config (eg. excluded folders) but afaik this only affects new mail and there is no magic command to recalculate the quota (or is there?). So I wrote this little python script to do this, maybe someone finds it useful. It can output the sql statements (dovecot 1.0/1.1 and 1.2 format) or just print out quota usage to console. from Cyrus to Dovecot, seen status on cyrus.index files
Hello, Using cyrus2dovecot (https://github.com/a-schild/cyrus2dovecot) I have migrated some test mailboxes from Cyrus (2.4.17) to Dovecot (2.2.9). The problem I'm having is that the seen status is in cyrus.index files, which cyrus2dovecot doesn't understand. Does anyone use cyrus2dovecot for migrations? If so, how do you deal with seen status when it is stored in the .index files?

convert non-standard mbox to maildir
Hi, Let me start with wishing you all the best for this new year, and I hope we'll see a lot of new features and not so much new bugs ;-) I'm trying to convert a number of PSTs to maildir. Just plain drag&drop in Outlook doesn't work (gives a very cryptic error message in a certain folder, but that folder is perfectly all right), and using the import option also barfs when

Problems Converting from Cyrus to Dovecot (cyrus2dovecot)
Hi there, I was in the same position, but for mutliple accounts. Still you might want to look at imapsync (https://github.com/imapsync/imapsync), isync and offlineimap. There are more alternatives listed at the imapsync homepage. Problems Converting from Cyrus to Dovecot (cyrus2dovecot)
Hi, With imapsync you will lose message UIDs which means that IMAP clients need to clear their local caches and redownload all messages. Why not use dovecot dsync over imapc instead? It tries to preserve UIDs and Flags. http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Migration Sami > On 07 Nov 2015, at 23:35, Forrest <those.lists at gmail.com> wrote: > > Thank you for the reply. I did find imapsync

Problems Converting from Cyrus to Dovecot (cyrus2dovecot)
v2.2.19 has many fixes related to dsync+imapc, which were found while migrating several million users from GMail. I'm not aware of any problems with it now. Also even before v2.2.19 dsync+imapc has been used to successfully do many large migrations. > On 26 Nov 2015, at 17:49, FUSTE Emmanuel <emmanuel.fuste at thalesgroup.com> wrote: > > Hi, > > No, I tried fetching

Problems Converting from Cyrus to Dovecot (cyrus2dovecot)
I have been attempting to use the cyrus2dovecot script, to no avail. I have many years of content that I want to convert from Cyrus to Dovecot; with the above not working, what are other options out there? Another idea I had is simply set up another IMAP server (using Dovecot) and drag-and-drop and just wait, which I may end up doing. In the above, I copied over my entire /var/imap and

Problems Converting from Cyrus to Dovecot (cyrus2dovecot)
Thank you for the reply. I did find imapsync whilst perusing Google. I will give it a shot, it sounds more realistic/reliable. I have a hoard of emails going back to 1999, so I want as few errors as possible :) On 11/7/15 3:31 PM, Philon wrote: > Hi there, > > I was in the same position, but for mutliple accounts. Problems Converting from Cyrus to Dovecot (cyrus2dovecot)
Hello, Because it did not work ? In a similar situation, we where forced to use isync/mbsync in imap to imap mode because dsync did not work. It was reported here more than a year ago (May 2014). Time to time, I see the same report from other trying to use dsync to do a migration to dovecot. Dsync is a very appealing and elegant solution to this usage, but it does not always work in real

doveadm backup: Error: Both source and destination mail_location points to same directory
Hello! I'm using 2 namespaces, "inbox" for INBOX and it's subfolders and "special" containing folders like Sent, Junk or Drafts.??Though both use mdbox I decided to represent those namespaces in different locations "mdbox:~/mail" and "mdbox:~/mail_special_folders". The main reason to use 2 namespaces was to keep special_use folders out of INBOX by
