Thunderbird caching problem
Using a fairly simple dovecot config (which obviously needs some max limit tweaking) we have problems with IMAP synchronization between thunderbird clients. Two TB clients in the same IMAP mailbox will, from time to time, show different views of the same INBOX folders, when TB caching is enabled. The only fix is to right-click on the folder, go to "Properties" and use the "Repair

questions about maildir to mdbox migration
Hi folks! I converted some of the spools on my mail server from maildir to mdbox. It went smoothly and the performance has been great. However, I have two questions regarding the process. First, I failed to notice the fairly low default mdbox_rotate_size, and I changed it in dovecot.conf after the migration. Is it possible to somehow make that change retroactive, to coalesce the couple

FTS index generation
Hi folks. I'm experimenting with the Squat plugin. I can execute search commands via direct interaction with IMAP, but I never see the expected dovecot.index.search index file appear in the spool. I'm concerned that I've misconfigured something that is preventing the creation of those indices. Is there a facility to have the squat plugin generate debugging messages so I

I will investigate this. If you don't expect yor firewall to handle 45K+ IPs, I'm not how you expect dovecot will handle a comma separated string with 45K+ entries any

SASL using different auth database?
Hi folks. Is it possible to configure Dovecot to authenticate against one mechanism (i.e., /etc/passwd) for POP/IMAP connections, while providing a SASL authentication socket that satisfies authentication requests against a different mechanism, say MySQL? The goal here is to allow users to have different passwords for SMTP authentication and POP/IMAP connections. I am converting an

feature request: deny IP address via database
Hey folks. One feature I'd really like to see in dovecot is the ability to point it at a database (with a configurable query) and have it allow or deny a connection based on looking up the source IP address in that database. I run Postfix, and I've got it configured to use a database server for its smtpd_client_restrictions checks. Ideally I'd like to point dovecot at

1.1 -> 1.2 upgrade?
Hey folks. I'm currently running Dovecot v1.1.6, and would like to move to 1.2.x soon. I'm using MySQL-backed LDA and fully virtualized mailboxes. Are there any upgrade gotchas I should be aware of? How much config file hacking should I expect? Thanks, -Dave -- Dave McGuire Port Charlotte, FL

Maildir messages
Hi all, Hopefully, I'm sending this to the right place... Can someone guide me on changing the Maildir messages files back to the single file format I used to have instead of the dovecot.index /cur /tmp /new format my newer server currently has. I'm running dovecot v1.2.9 postfix v2.7 on Ubuntu v10.4

need convert-tool advice
Hi folks, I've got a few thousand accounts that I'd like to convert from mbox to maildir. I'm looking at using convert-tool from the command line to do this, but I'm uncertain about the command line syntax, so I hope someone can take a moment to go over this with me. I'm running dovecot 1.1.6 on this system. Mail accounts are not tied to UNIX system accounts, I'm
