Occasional problem with POP3-Download
Hello everyone,
I have two mailservers [1] running dovecot. Mail store format is
maildir. Every once in a while I have the following problem: When a User
downloads his mail via POP3, the client says something like "the server
has closed the connection unexpectedly, and gives this reason:
[...blahblah...]".
One can now cancel the download, and restart it, and the problem shows
up again

Again: Occasional problem with POP3-Download
Hello everyone,
in february I posted the mail below[1].
I can now reproduce the problem. When filling up a mailbox with postfix'
smtp-source with dozens of identical mails, then it is never possible
for me to fetch one single mail out of the mailbox. The process of
fetching mail via POP3 always fails. It makes no difference which mail
client I use. I have tested KMail, Outlook and

Deliver hangs after reloading the Dovecot configuration
Hello Timo,
deliver hangs after reloading the Dovecot configuration.
How to reproduce:
1. start dovecot
2. deliver a message via deliver
3. modify dovecot.conf:plugin {quota_rule}
4. kill -HUP $PID_of_dovecot
5. deliver the next message via deliver
Dovecot v1.2.beta2 died in this case with a panic:

v1.2.beta2: Fatal: io_loop_handle_add: epoll_ctl(1, 10): Bad file descriptor
Hi Timo,
I'm playing with Dovecot v1.2.beta2 currently. When the dict process was
started via deliver(?) and Dovecot is killed (kill $PID_OF_DOVECOT)
after delivering only one message, it logs:
Fatal: io_loop_handle_add: epoll_ctl(1, 10): Bad file descriptor
If the dict process was not started or deliver has delivered more than
one message, the error doesn't occur.
I'm not using

Dovecot 1.2 - Quotas - Ignoring Trash folder
Hello guys,
Firstly I would like to state that I am fairly new to Dovecot. I have played
around with it in the past here and there but mainly with debian packages.
I have compiled this version of Dovecot from source, so please go easy with
me.
Ok now down to my questions:
I am having trouble getting Dovecot to 'ignore' the Trash folder when
summing up the used quota for a user.

doveadm doesn't subscribe to public folders
Hi,
I'd like to subscribe folder with doveadm:
doveadm mailbox subscribe -u rago public.Conferences
This command doesn't work, while it works with an ordinary folder.
However it's possible to subscribe to the folder with an imap connection:
1 login rago "mypasswd"
1 OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 LITERAL+ SASL-IR LOGIN-REFERRALS ID ENABLE

LMTP proxying
How exactly is LMTP proxying supposed to work?
According to the example on
http://wiki2.dovecot.org/PasswordDatabase/ExtraFields/Proxy
I'm only seeing "proxy" in the password_query statements.
But LMTP never sends a password.
IMAP Proxying is working OK:

2k clients
Hello, I have ran into a fairly large problem. When ever i try to join to samba
2.2.5 controlled domain with my win 2k client. It says user does not exist. I
checked to see of the machine trust account was setup correctly and it was.
Also the username and password i used is a working user because i can logon
with my 98 box just fine. The trust accounts are made, there is a domain admin

help with public namespace/mailbox
Dear all, I am hoping someone can help me with a problem that I have been
trying to fix for days. Using postfix and dovecot 2.0.19 on Ubuntu 12.04
with LDAP authentication and virtual users and domains.
Basically I want to setup both shared and public mailboxes. The shared part
is working fine, ie I can share folders successfully and other uses can see
them. However when I try and create sub

Forcing NOSELECT for a Maildir folder?
Hello,
is it at all possible, possibly without modifying the source code of
Dovecot, to enforce that a mailbox gets the NOSELECT attribute?
I have a namespace set up like this:
namespace private {
separator = /
prefix = Local Folders/
location = maildir:/xyz/core/store/maildir/%u/
inbox = yes
hidden = no
list = yes
subscriptions = yes
}

(1.2.11): Confused about shared/public folders
hi,
i red several hours a lot of documentation (wiki, Blogs, lists ...) how
to get public folders. Under cyrus it is very easy. Create a mbox on the
top with cyradm and some acls. Nothing more ...
All i want is:
public/info
public/group/internal
public/foo
public/foo/bla
on info, everybody can read
on group/internal - only group has full access to internal

Also,

Unsubscribing from public folders
Hi, I'm having problems unsubscribing from public folders - nothing seems to
happen when I do that (from Thunderbird, Squirrelmail or telnet).
I'm using Dovecot 1.2.11. I remember that this worked when I was using
version 1.1.7.
Here is an extract from an imap session:
3 unsubscribe "Public-NIB/archive/older"
3 OK Unsubscribe completed.

ACLs, shared, public, virtual mailboxes not working
Since you have obfuscated your data it is hard to tell what's going on, especially as in your previous log you have 'user=user' and now you have user1 and user2.
You can try
doveadm rights -u victim folder
to see what sort of rights dovecot thinks it's seeing.

Shared folders and home directories
Hi,
I've recently migrated a server from a Qmail/VPOPMail setup to a
Postfix/system accounts setup. Everything worked pretty much out of the
box after just changing the passdb and userdb to pam and passwd.
However, I cannot get my shared folders to work. In the logs I will
always see something like
Jul 21 07:24:10 mybox dovecot: IMAP(foobar): Namespace 'shared/':

Segfault in dovecot 1.2rc2 with quota + public namespace enabled
Hi,
I have configured a public namespace ("#Shared"). Since dovecot 1.2rc2
(1.1.11 worked fine) I get a segfault, if I try to access a folder
under this namespace when quota plugin is enabled. When the quota
plugin is disabled, accessing those folders works.
$ dovecot -n

When I flag some messages these messages automatically appears

[PATCH] Interop problem with Cyrus SASL and GSSAPI
[I sent this a while ago, but it seems not to have made it to the list.
I'm resending it having subscribed first; I apologise if anyone get it
twice.]
I have been trying to get a Postfix mail server using Dovecot SASL to
accept GSSAPI AUTH from another Postfix server using Cyrus SASL, and I
believe I have found a couple of bugs in Dovecot's GSSAPI
implementation.
The first problem is
