Migrating from Maildir to Maildir:LAYOUT=fs
Hi I have use dovecot together with offlineimap to download my gmail account on a single user computer and I have only one maildir (~/Maildir). As I switched to Mac, I would like to use spotlight to index my mails, which apparently does not work as they are in hidden directories (.directories). So I would like to change to LAYOUT=fs. Is there an easy way to migrate my email structure? I have

Maildir from offlineimap, INBOX folder created
Hi, I'm using dovecot to serve up a Maildir created/served by offlineimap. The layout is typical (as far as I know) of maildirs, with the root folder having cur, tmp, new, and subfolders being a folder within the root folder. Since I'd previously used Evolution to access this maildir, my subfolders were actual subfolders (separator /). Anyway, it all works spiffingly well, except that I

Dovecot setup fails w. multiple mail locations (gnus/dovecot/offlineimap)
Hi, I am trying to setup a Gnus - Dovecot - Offlineimap - Webmail (Gmail / Fastmail) chain and cannot configure the correct behaviour. Any advice to get this working properly would be very appreciated! I have set up Offlineimap to synchronise two mail accounts into separate folders under ~/Maildir. After running Offlineimap, the folders look as below. Maildir/ |-- Gmail | |-- cur | |--

dsync migration from maildir layout=fs to maildir seperator / - folders or inbox but not both
Am attempting to bring my mailserver back to home server post house move and whilst I could use rsync have been trying to get to grips with dsync. However, I seem to have an issue - my current server specifies mail_location as maildir:/var/vmail/%d/%n/Maildir:LAYOUT=fs and my imapc config on new server is as follows ... imapc_host = old.mailserver.host imapc_user = %u imapc_master_user =

Replication and LAYOUT=fs
Hello folks, I have a problem with replication and mail_location with LAYOUT=fs set. If I set "mail_location = maildir:~/mail" (leaving out the :LAYOUT=fs), create and populate some mailboxes and subfolders, they all get replicated. If I start with a clean mail spool and LAYOUT=fs, I can create some new mailboxes and subfolders but only the inbox is replicated. Subfolders are ignored.

Subfolders of Inbox with LAYOUT=fs
We've just converted to LAYOUT=fs. Some users had subfolders under Inbox, and for those users some MUAs no longer show those folders. The directory structure is that the cur, tmp and new folders are in the 'location' directory, but the subfolders are in $location/INBOX/$foldername. I am suspicious of this: 12 list "" INBOX * LIST (\HasNoChildren) "/"

Maildir with LAYOUT=fs not working
I'm considering converting a Cyrus system (managing my family's e-mail) to Dovecot. I'm trying Dovecot 1.1.15 on an Ubuntu 9.04 (2.6.28-11-server) system. My production server is currently running Cyrus 2.3.14. Since I have a huge number of folders and subfolders, I need to use LAYOUT=fs. However, it's not working consistently. I tried setting up a test account in Thunderbird

dsync migration from maildir layout=fs to maildir seperator / - folders or inbox but not both
Sigh ... ok so had if statement in SQL land that appended LAYOUT=fs if Maildir which explains the non-converting folder layout but NOT why the process is not picking up the actual contents of INBOX ... maildir and the separator for subfolder
hi, I use dovecot 1.0rc15 with one maildir namespace. I'd like to be able to use '.' in folders and subfolders name. So, I setup the default namespace with separator =':' But, when I create some folders and then subfolders with thunderbird the filename one the server are named with some '.' no ':'... It seems that dovecot always interprets '.'

mbox folders on-disc layout
I'd like to change the on-disk layout for my mboxes from being ~/mail/foo/bar to ~/mail/foo.bar so that I can have folders containing both messages and subfolders, without having subfolders beginning with . and then having to do all the other fiddling with locations of index files etc. that goes along with LAYOUT=maildir++, and also leaving the filesystem layout looking sensible so

offlineimap with dovecot: file-time is one hour in the future
I use offlineimap to sync my remote IMAP-server with my local IMAP-server (maildir format). But I don't understand this behavior: every new mail in the INBOX has a file-date which is one hour in the future. Is this 'normal'? Is this a problem of offlineimap? I tried this debugging (for dovecot): mail_executable = /usr/lib/dovecot/rawlog /usr/lib/dovecot/imap and this (for offlineimap):

dovcot+offlineimap+gmail: INBOX empty, mail doubled
Hello I have used for years offlineimap-6.2.0 dovecot-imapd 1:1.2.9 in Kubuntu 10.04 Together with a imap server of my university. Yesterday we switched to google, which I know, is not a real imap server. I have 2 problems and the first I think has to do with either an old version of offlineimap or a bad configuration file: - All folders are downloaded+ Gmail[All Mail] so doubling

Filtering spam in an offlineimap + dovecot setup
Hello, To easily access my mail both offline on my computer and on my phone, I am synchronizing a local copy on my computer using offlineimap. As the spam filtering options provided on the server are not sufficient, I am now looking into client-side spam filtering. My current setup is as follows. Mail is synchronized using offlineimap, and delivered to a local dovecot server:

Dovecot LDA, Offlineimap and Sieve
Hi, I am trying to st up Offlineimap to use Dovecots LDA to be able to use Sieve for mail filtering, but am not sure how to get this working. I think the right way would be to use 'preauthtunnel' in .offlineimaprc and try the setup below, which doesn't work. ,----.offlineimaprc | [Repository LocalRepository] | type = IMAP | preauthtunnel = ssh -q localhost

Can't access maildir with dovecot
I'm a total newbie regarding imap servers. I'm trying to set up a Offlineimap/dovecot/Gnus system and Gnus complains that it cannot access the maildir... Here is my setup, put together by copying stuff from around the web without any prior knowledge of these tools... * Offlineimap is setup to use the $HOME/Maildir-free/, using --8<---------------cut
