Upgrading Server Motherboard
I have a server running CentOS 4.2 that works as a web/email with very heavy load. It runs Directadmin web gui which is like Cpanel. It runs on a cheapy mATX motherboard(ECS 741GX-M) with socket A 2800+ CPU and 2Gbyte DDR. The OS and data are on a 300Gbyte PATA maxtor drive and data backups are run weekly to another PATA drive. The server is overwelmed and data backups take over 5 hours to

Timeouts connecting via POP3
I'm experiencing timeouts from time to time from both Mac Mail and Outlook when connecting to my server. I originally suspected that it might be process # related, so I increased the auth & login process counts but that hasn't seemed to make a difference. I'm running 1.0rc10 which came with my DirectAdmin control panel. I'm wondering if this problem is known and was fixed in

2.3.4 doesnt compile on FreeBSD 11.2 using clang
extract below, this has already been reported a while back but still no new patch, so this email is to serve as a reminder, if someone manually fixes it for the ports tree, I dont consider that a fix, ideally we need this fixed in the source code, as not everyone will install it from ports. Wiki ControlPanels page
Hello, My name is Travis Northrup. I would like to contribute documentation on CentOS compatible control panels. I have 12 years technical experience and have used most if not all control panels currently available, free and commercial. The main control panels that I can immediately begin documenting are Virtuozzo, OpenVZ, cPanel, Plesk, DirectAdmin, Webmin. Others I can begin documenting as I go

init.d scripts not starting at boot
I have just deployed a new CentOS 6.4 image on AWS, and I'm having issues with init.d scripts not starting up. I've verified the following; 1) They work on their own after boot 2) They're set to run at runlevel 3,4, and 5 via chkconfig 3) The system boots up in runlevel 3 (no GUI) 4) There are no lingering PID files around after boot 5) Permissions

Roundcubemail problem with Dovecot
I am getting "Connection to storage server failed." in roundcubemail. On doing a google search If find: http://help.directadmin.com/item.php?id=473 Which puts the problem at dovecot. I did get a dovecot update back on 3-5 and that would match to my one roundcube mail user complaining and the delays I am seeing with thunderbird and outlook users. So with my setup, I am trying to

Using checkpassword to block ips?
Hi new to the list, but we are a long time user of Dovecot via DirectAdmin control panel. We, like everyone else, are seeing an increase in dictionary attacks of POP/IMAP. We want to block them. I've searched the mailing list and found a few recommended fail2ban, which really won't work for our case. We need to do this over many machines and not one or two. We also like to gather

GETQUOTAROOT (part 2)
Hello, I'm a recent convert to dovecot from courier-imap and the performance has certainly improved. I'm running the vanilla 1.0.7 version that came with the CentOS 5.2 x86_64 distro. I've come across a similar problem that was posted by Ralf Hildebrandt earlier this year under the same subject, but that thread just seems to have died off. I'm also using per- user maildirsize

Conflict -> Dovecot + Maildrop (maildirsize)
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I'm having some problems with quota from sql (maildir++) and dovecot + maildrop. I'm using maildrop for MDA and dovecot as IMAP server. When an e-mail arrives, maildrop calculates the quota and updates the 'maildirsize' file. When i use dovecot (webmail, thunderbird) it updates the 'maildirsize' too, overwriting it, but in a

Centos4 web hosting Control Panel
I'm looking for a nice Open Source web hosting Control Panel. Is anybody using VHCS with Centos4? Any other suggestions for good control panels?
