Debian 6.0 and dovecot version is 1.2.15.
I am unsure how to set "login_max_processes_count" and

Master user without pass=yes error
Hello Timo,
I just tried the master user feature with a very simple setup (Dovecot v2.2.15) :
!include auth-master.conf.ext -> passwd-file passdb
!include auth-ldap.conf.ext -> ldap passdb (userdb prefetched) without auth_bind=yes
without pass=yes I get this userdb lookup error :
dovecot: auth: passwd-file(masteruser,157.99.64.42,master,<4Pgesh0OygCdY0Aq>): Master user logging in

rc1 & password debug
Hello Timo,
I just launched rc1 with
auth_verbose = yes
auth_debug = yes
#auth_debug_passwords = no
and on a wrong password, I see my crypted passwd in the log :
userPassword(password)={Crypt}xxxxxxxx
Is that normal, since I assume that auth_debug_passwords defaults to
no ?

Cygwin and dovecot-auth problems
Hi all.
I'm trying to install Dovecot 1.1.rc13 on Cygwin.
I've read the related posts, and I realize that maybe there's no solution at present; since I'm having a different error, though, I'm posting it here.
Compilation succeeds. Starting dovecot from command line results in:
Warning: fd limit 256 is lower than what Dovecot can use under full load (more than 640). Either

No log for hitting login_max_processes_count?
I think today just due to increased use, my mail servers hit
login_max_processes_count. It wasn't obvious what was happening, logins
just weren't acting like they should and sometimes would get
disconnected before given a prompt from the server. Something made me
think to check if I had too many of certain dovecot processes and I
found I had 128 imap-login processes on both servers,

Split number of imap-login and pop3-login processes
Hi All,
Is there a way to define the number for imap-login processes and pop3-login processes separately?
My mail server is getting more IMAP clients and much less POP3 clients these days and it continues to run out of authentication processes.
I have been increasing login_max_processes_count the last couple of days and I noticed that it's split between IMAP and POP3.
All 129 imap-login

Dovecot reports:

Dovecot-auth timeouts
Hello,
I've unfortunately been unable to find anything relating to the problem I'm having specifically, in searching the list or google, and so I now plead to you to assistance.
I'm running Dovecot as an LDA and SASL auth for Postfix on a Debian 4 box. Dovecot is version 1.0.rc15 (the official debian pkg version).
The problem I'm running into is this. After some time of

Imap-login service count/limits
Hello Timo,
I'm trying to configure dovecot-2.1.15 master correctly regarding imap-login
limits. I want to use service_count=0 and I'm starting with something like this
:
#default_process_limit = 100
#default_client_limit = 1000
service imap-login {

service_count = 0
process_min_avail = 8
vsz_limit = 1024M

Samba4 and user auth
Hi all
I am trying to set up an email Server with a Samba4 AD as user
Directory.
Does anybody know a good how-to to setup user auth against AD ? Or could
anyone tell me how to do it?
I am having an email Server up and running with openldap but want to
change to Samba4 AD, because of the openchange Integration.
I would appreciate any help on this topic.

auth protocol, buffers
Hello Timo,
I'm curious about 2 points (I'm using alpha2 but these are general
questions) :
Background :
. I connect to dovecot-1.0.alpha2 through thunderbird
. I use ldap pass/userdb and PLAIN mech
. I've only got one auth block in dovecot.conf (all pass/userdb/mech
except ldap/PLAIN are commented)
1) I notice that, for one thunderbird connection trial, imap-login

dovecot-1.2.12 core
Hi Timo,
just to report that
. dovecot-1.2.12 which ran fine for several month
. on FreeBSD 7.2-STABLE (/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC amd64)
. using Maildir (mailboxes, control and indexes on NFS)
has crashed this morning on our server.
I found nothing special in the logfile.
Attached are dovecot -n output and a gdb backtrace of the core file.
Thanks

Hi all,
Our Dovecot server became non-responsive today and had to be restarted.
