SiS hashes file ?
Hello,
In mdbox SiS POSIX mail box setting -
There are hard-links under -
<mail_attachment_dir>/ha/sh/<hash>-<guid-1>
<mail_attachment_dir>/ha/sh/<hash>-<guid-2>
Why is a copy of the file kept under hashes/<hash> ?

Disable SIS
Hi,
I'm currently running a small home-server with Dovecot. A long time ago
I configured it with SIS enabled. I would like to stop using SIS.
If I remove sis from mail_attachment_fs will the old mails that are
stored in SIS-storage still be accessible?
How can I convert all mailboxes to stop using SIS and store attachments
back in the mails?

Problems setting up SIS (duplicate files with same hash)
Hi everyone,
I am currently trying to setup our next dovecot server (2.2.18) with SIS
enabled, but I have enconutered 1 problem and 1 question:
*1) Same attachment, different filenames*
I have a feeling a misconfigured something (or forgot to do something)
because SIS almost works, but not quite since 3 identical attachment take

SiS: Attachment file larger than expected
I recently set up SiS and imported a large chunk of mail.
I've noticed one or two instances of this in the logs:

Attachment file size error in SIS
I've got an attachment that triggers a "smaller than expected" error.
It was a pdf I received some time ago. I copied the file from the
dovecot storage, renamed it to something close to the original name (I
don't remember what that was), then created a new mail with this as an
attachment and saved it to the server. This created a new file,
identical file size to the other

Sis attachment deduplication
Hi.
Two questions:
1. Is this now reasonably stable for large mailboxes (c 2mm messages)?
2. Will this leave the filename in the message body unchanged? So for example if I have the same attachment called proposalfromvendor.pdf and proposaltoclient.pdf in two different emails, will the original names be kept ? Or will it replace the filename with some kind of numeric hash ?

attachment sis + EMLINK (too many links) = segfault bug (2.2.12)
Hi,
we use attachment dedup with lots of emails (still migrating to it
from maildir).
We use netapp storage with wafl filesystem over nfs.
Problem is that netapp has hard limit of 100k hardlinks to one file.
And we encountered it.
Problem is that dovecot start do segfault (lmtp,dsync,pop3 etc) when it
happend when tried to deliver new emails with that attachment.

Well, with no guarantees or promises whatsoever...here's my first
attempt. I'm certain someone else can come up with a much more robust
solution but it's a starting point.
Since I typically see a batch of the error messages during an FTS
update, my current usage is:
1. doveadm fts rescan -u user-to-fix
2. Perform a fts search to do a full mailbox scan

Ok, didn't find much on this...
The bottom of /etc/dovecot/conf.d/10-mail.conf has the following settings:
#mail_attachment_dir =
#mail_attachment_min_size = 128k
#mail_attachment_fs = sis posix
#mail_attachment_hash = %{sha1}
all of which are apparently the defaults according to doveconf -d output
- so no need to set them explicitly, unless I want to change them, right?

this week, I discovered a serious bug in Dovecot, that lead to several
broken mails on our servers. The bug corrupts the first few characters
of the mail header during saving. On our setup, it was almost always
only the very first line of text, that was corrupted.
