mailboxes and IMAP folders mirroring ?
Hello
This is a bit off Dovecot but ...
I'm searching some software to mirror mailboxes and IMAP forlders
from the mailhub to another (clone) computer.
Actually I use rsync daily but I wonder if it exists some software
that are real time mirroring capable ?
I'm using Dovecot 1.2.14 and Postfix with MBOX format.
Thanks

lda_mailbox_autocreate and lda_mailbox_autosubscribe
Hello
I use real unix users on the mailhub and I would like to
automate home directories creation for new users.
I found lda_mailbox_autocreate and lda_mailbox_autosubscribe
statements in 15-lda.conf file ( dovecot 2.0.11 ) which seem to be the right
things for me :-)
I use Postfix 2.8.1 with Dovecot LDA
mailbox_command = /usr/local/libexec/dovecot/dovecot-lda

Dovecot + managesieve + Roundcube
Hello
I've installed managesieve on my mailhub
FreeBSD from dovecot-managesieve ports
to let roundcube users build email filters.
The filter are well created in the right directory
but the filter seems inefficient ( it does not filter ;-) )
see below the result of the dovecot -n command
Thanks for any info

Moving from MBOX to Maildir or DBox ?
Hello
Actually we use MBOX format for all our IMAP access but users complain
they cannot create subfolders in imap folders, of course they cannot

FreeBSD tuning for a dovecot + postfix server ?
Hello
I've googled around to tune a bit my mailhub ( AMD64 FreeBSD 8.1, 12 Gb
RAM, 2 Tb raid5 disks , ~4000 mailboxes unix users )
but I am a bit confused,
All my clients use thunderbird as MUA ( IMAP, IMAPS ) to connect to the
mailhub
no direct access to the machine.
Any of you guys has some pointer to give ?
thanks a lot

Migration to Dovecot
Hello all
Tomorrow is the day , I'm gonna migrate all our mailboxes and imap folders
from our old mailhub to the new one.
In the same time I will migrate from UW to Dovecot , I've read all
the stuff about it on the Dovecot web site.
I have one question , do I have to care about the .imap cache directory
created by Dovecot in any way or will it be "all automatic" when starting

troubles with 1.1.8 and squirrelmail over HTTPS
Hello
I noticed a problem after upgrading to 1.1.8
Users that access to their mailboxes using webmail squirrelmail and HTTPS
using HTTP seems to work correctly but it not safe enough ...
There is an error message saying the imap server send a BYE command ...
I downgraded our Dovecot server to 1.1.7 then it works again ...
Does somebody has the same problem ?

Production server migration from mbox to maildir ( need advice )
Hello
I'm going to change the raid array of my mailhub in fews days/weeks and I
wonder if it would be a good idea to take the opportunity of this migration
to also change the storage method from mailbox to maildir.
I've never used maildir on my production server only on small satellites.
So I really need advice of admins that use maildir format on prod servers.
My server has approx

IMAP subfolders and MBOX format
Hello folks
I have a problem related to the mbox format I think
First we use MBOX format with Dovecot 1.14
A user's here need to create some subfolders in his Imap space.
Due to the use of MBOX format this is impossible from thunderbird
as you cannot creat a directory in a file :-)
So to help him I created manually on the mail server some directories
into his imap space,
Doing so we are

Dovecot on different server than MTA
Hi,
I'm setting up our new mail system using dovecot as mailbox server. As
our goal is to have many many small redundant (virtual) servers as
components, for example a mailhub (just relaying mail) and a frontend
smtp server (just accepting or denying mail in the first place and
then forwarding it to the mailhub), etc. I want to run Dovecot on a
different server than the main MTAs. The mailbox

Convert UW folders to Dovecot folders ?
Hello
IMAP users here have a *lot* of folders living in their mailhub home directory
Converting the INBOX doesn't seems to be a problem I've found scripts
that do the job :-)
But
How to convert IMAP folders from UW format ( one file / folder )
to dovecot format which seems much more sophisticated.
Does anyone has written such ( nice) utility ?
Thanks a lot

How Dovecot 2 create folders and subfolders ( MBOX format ) with TB ?
Hello
When creating new IMAP folder with thunderbird and Dovecot
configured with the std MBOX format dovecot create a file in
mbox format and so it is not possible to create a subfolder of
this folder.
If you ask to create a NEW subfolder of the form : TOTO/TATA
Dovecot create a directory TOTO containing a mbox file TATA.
Very useful :-)
I suppose the "/" separator is parsed by

Sub-Sub-Subfolders not shown after converting from maildir to mdbox
Hi again,
I just recognized a problem concerning subfolders after converting from
maildir to mdbox. Thunderbird and SeaMonkey don?t show folders that are
subfolders of subfolders.
Have a look at the filesystem:

Shortcomings of Maildir++ layout
Hi,
I am trying to deal with the problem, that under regular mbox format a
path can lead to either a file or a directory, but not both, while under
IMAP, a path is usually both, a message folder containing subfolders.
I found dovecot's approach to this problem, the Maildir++ layout
described under http://wiki2.dovecot.org/MboxChildFolders , and was
astonished to see, what problems come with

Multi OS boot and shared secret trouble
Hello
We are facing a boring trouble with multi OB boot machines
that access to our samba server.
All machines authenticate to samba PDC ( linux debian etch + windows )
It appears when machines windows's bootup the shared secret is changed
by windows
if we reboot the same machine under Linux it cannot authenticate
anymore because Linux does NOT change the shared secret ...
The machines
