Hi I currently have a 3072kbps line that I'm splitting in half for 5 of my phones. That's 307.2kbps +/- a couple of kpbs. What is the minimum kbps for a phone to maintain clarity and volume? Joshua

use linux user account information on samba
Dear list, I am having real trouble using the linux authentication system with samba. I have a configured kerberos and ldap server and authenticate in linux using nslcd. nfs4 works fine in the linux world. Unfortunately, I am forced :( to have some windows machines which are supposed to connect to linux fileservers. If I understand correctly, I can use sssd on the samba ad domain controller to

dbox + SIS + zlib fixed
I think a few people have complained about this combination being somewhat broken, resulting in bogus "cached message size wrong" errors sometimes. This fixes it: http://hg.dovecot.org/dovecot-2.0/rev/9b2931607063

Dbox group file permissions
Hi everyone, I feel like I am missing something obvious here. I have dovecot up and running and every piece of mail is given user read/write permission. I see the option mail_gid, but I do not see anyplace to set the group permissions. I see the below wiki talking about new home directories getting their permission from the parent directory, but this does not seem to work. Any

dbox: maildir migration
I'm trying to clean up the code for Dovecot v2.0 and I just keep coming back to the same thought: Is having the super-fast maildir -> single-dbox migration really actually a good idea? Some problems with it: 1. Makes the code more complex.. And I've already fixed many bugs related to that, maybe not all. 2. Having some mails in maildir format and others in dbox format isn't

permissions for dbox attachment directory
I am running dovecot 2.0.13 on CentOS5, set up with only local system users, and single instance store set up in a single directory. e.g. mail_attachment_dir = /var/mail/attachments I get errors when importing mail to IMAP because the attachment directories are owned by the respective mail account user(s) and so cannot be accessed or written to by other users. Are there some user id setting I

two server and dbox
Dear users, I have a question about the storage dbox. Is it possible to deliver e-mails from two different lda? I would have two independent servers working at the same time on nfs. Is it possible since the e-mails name will be the same? Thanks in advance Alex

Any suggestions for backing up an imap server and whould maildir or dbox be better than mbox?
Hi, we run a Red Hat EL 5.2 mailserver with dovecot as the imap server. Mails are stored in mbox format and there are about 134GB of mail. At the moment users copy their importent mail to their workstation accounts wich are backed up nightly. What are your suggestions to back up the mails not copied? Thanks for any comments. BTW: Dose changing the mailbox format from mbox to Maildir or dbox

Convert from maildir to dbox
Ok...I made the leap. Compiled a copy of 1.2b4 (very pleasant compile BTW - almost no warnings, nice code Timo!)...tweaked a config...had a few false starts... 1.2b4 seems to working quite nicely. Now...for my next magical trick... I would like to migrate from maildir to dbox. I've tried using the convert plugin, but it kept failing during the conversion. I should mention my paths:

dbox with non-dovecot LDA
Aside from the code is there any documentation on using dbox with a non-Dovecot LDA? We have our own MTA and currently use Dovecot with Maildir only for message retrieval and just have our MTA write the message files to our own directory structure (Dovecot per user mailbox locations stored in mysql) but I am interested in looking at moving to dbox if it is better for performance and other

dbox problem
Hi, I have just tested the dbox format mailbox, it works fine. But when I create dir through imap with `create` command, it only creates the dir onder ~/dbox/mailboxes, such as ~/dbox/mailboxes/newfolder. There was no `dbox-Mails` dir created. So the newfolder was 'noselect'. But the new folders created by `autocreate` plugin was correct. -- Xueron Nee http://www.xueron.com

dbox verses maildir - advantages/disadvantages
I am migrating our mail server from Courier-IMAP to Dovecot. We currently use maildir storage format. What are the advantages and disadvantages of Dovecot's dbox format over maildir? Does anyone have any performance benchmarks for both? What do people use to test performance? We are running on a Mac OS X box (10.5.7) using Postfix 2.6. Thanks, James.

Dovecot v1.2.rc5 dbox file permissions
Hi Timo, I've just setup Dovecot v1.2.rc5 and switched the mailbox format of one account to dbox. Therefor I've created an empty directory, called dbox, with access mode 0700, like the user's home directory. After the IMAP login with Thunderbird some dboxes was created. All permissions were set fine (0700 / 0600), except the permissions for the files: *

stupid migration from maildir+ to dbox
Hello. I'm install latest dovecot 1.2 from hg repo. I have many messages in maildir+ format. I migrate some folders to dbxo format using instructions from http://wiki.dovecot.org/MailboxFormat/dbox. But in two folders i'm delete index.cache and index.log files, this is my mistake. Is that possible to recover this files (regenerate) or use my messages from maildir with dbox? Thank You for

Dovecot 2.0 zlib and dbox
Hello, As per wiki instructions, I tried to enable zlib compression of mails by adding/modifying the following snippets of configuration: plugin { zlib_save_level = 6 zlib_save = gz } and protocol imap { mail_plugins = fts fts_squat autocreate zlib imap_zlib imap_id_log = * } I am using dbox format and delivering the mails via dovecot deliver, however mails don't seem
