SATA Raid 5 and losing a drive
Hi Folks -
Using CentOS on a server destined to have a dozen SATA drives in it.
The server is fine, raid 5 is set up on groups of 4 SATA drives.
Today we decide to disconnect one SATA drive to simulate a failure. The
box trucked on fine... a little too fine. We waited some minutes but no
problem was visible in /proc/mdstat or in /var/log/messages or on the
console.
I ran mdadm --monitor

dsync convert dovecot 2.0 beta4
Hello,
I am trying to convert a dbox mailbox in maildir format
I changed the config to maildir instead of dbox and I am issuing this
/opt/dovecot/bin/dsync -u r convert dbox:/home/r/dbox
But I get many errors like those below and no mail is stored in the maildir.
dsync(r): Error: Corrupted mailbox log at offset 18446743970630342680:
/home/r/dbox/dovecot.mailbox.log

convert to mdbox
Hi
How can I convert all virtual mailboxes from maildir to mdbox? Manually,
one by one, working, but I have a lot ...
Virtual users and domains stored in sql database.
Thats what I want:
mail_location = maildir:/var/vmail/%d/%n/Maildir
to
mail_location = mdbox:/var/vmail/%d/%n/mdbox
Thanks
Levi

Converting old emails to compressed format
Hello,
I know this question has already been asked, but I would really like a
solution here as I tried all I could find on the wiki or mail archives
I am now running dovecot 2.2.12
Compression works fine for new mails, so zlib works
Mails are currently stored using dbox
So I tried for testing
dsync -D -v mirror -u user -m Archives dbox:~/temp
dsync -o "plugin/zlib_save=xz" -D -v

Guadec 2005 and DirectShow Filters
Hello all,
I have been trying to play the Guadec Theora files (
http://stream.fluendo.com/archive/6uadec/ )
on Windows with no success. At first I thought it was just the machine
which I was trying it on, but I now have seen another machine play other
Theora files (Systm, Ubuntu Below Zero) without problems, but treat
Guadec as just being audio files. I do also have another machine here

Hi Timo,
Sorry about the thread hijacking but, speaking about the mail_log
plugin, what do you think about the ability to add the session number to
the log lines produced by this plugin?
This could be a useful information to have too, especially on a large
traffic

'doveadm replicator remove' only temporary?
Hi folks,
Wondering if this is expected behavior; we'd like to be able to pause
replication for a particular account on our 2.2.32 active-active
cluster, but delivering a message (LMTP) to the account seems to turn
replication back on again:
(replication on)

I'll ask one of the users suffering from the crash if I may "borrow" one
of the mails. This will probably take some days.
Thank you!
Best wishes for the new year,

I know this is a huge page with little chances to get accepted, but I'd
like to mention this, because it has been on my personal wish list for a
long time. Sure, I can install pkissh, but if

Hello,
Our Postfix setup uses multi-instance feature. I would like to enable
dovecot SASL mechanisms in postfix. Open two unix sockets is not a

mode = 0660
user = postfix
group = postfix

Corruption of index files
Hi All,
after upgrading my mail server (dovecot 1.1.7 -> 2.2.13) I get tons of
messages about corrupted index files in the syslog ("Error: Corrupted
transaction log" and "Warning: fscking index file .. dovecot.index".
I tried flock and even dotlock, but the problems persist.
The system is a VPS with an overlay filesystem which did work flawlessly

Do you have a means to identify "some suitable account was used" - as
opposed to a trivially forged sender address - *other* than by watching
the actual MUA-to-MSA

Embed a Rails app within another?
I''m looking for a solution where I could load and render pages from one
Rails application within another. I''m looking through the Rails code
right now to see if this would even be remotely possible. Does anyone
have any ideas?
I know the obvious answer would be to proxy the app via Net::HTTP, but
this is undesirable because:
