Ugh - half connected Win 7 machines to Samba 4.1.18 AD
I have been at my wits end now since Sunday trying to debug an issue that occurred when I tried to update from sernet-samba-4.1.18 to sernet-samba-4.2.2 on my small network. I have one administrator account and two user accounts which I will call account1 and account2. Before I updated I was able to login into any of 3 Windows 7 Professional boxes and 5 linux boxes running CentOS 6.6 using

Switch from courier to dovecot
I have an courier IMAP server running. To get sib dirs working I had to rename them all to begin with a period ".". e.g Maildir Maildir/{cur,new,tmp} Maildir/.account1/{cur,new,tmp} Maildir/.account2/{cur,new,tmp} Maildir/.account3/{cur,new,tmp} etc If I uninstall Courier and install dovecot, will these "period" dirs be seen by default? I am fairly new to this and

Dovecot and Mail.app
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I'm trying to convert a courier-imap installation over to using Dovecot, but I'm having some problems with Mail.app on OS X. FTR, we use both Mail.app and Thunderbird. Note that in the Mail.app preferences, I have a blank IMAP Path Prefix. I'm using Dovecot 1.0_rc15 on Gentoo, and Mail.app from OS X 10.4.8, Thunderbird 1.5.0.9.

Problem registering two (and more) sip trunks
Hi, I'm having a problem trying to register sip trunks. I using asterisk 1.4.39.1, freepbx 2.5.2 in centos 5.5 and I'm trying to configure several sip accounts from my provider. The accounts are individually configured as sip trunks. With only one account everything is ok, it registers and I can make and receive calls. My problem is when I try to put more accounts, it seems to start

My current dovecot pass/user db queries are password_query = \ SELECT \ username as user, \ password, \ '/data/vmail/%d/%n/Maildir' as userdb_home, \ 5000 as userdb_uid, \ 5000 as userdb_gid \ FROM mailbox WHERE username =

diagnosing broken pipe errors
I'm hoping to get some guidance diagnosing intermittent smbd errors that have been cropping up in the last 2 months. They are sporadic, difficult to reproduce, and don't reveal much of a pattern so far except that the majority are generated by a couple of clients, although several clients appear to be affected. Typical symptom on the client is a hang when attempting to look at the share

SAMBA slower than MARSNWE...
I actually find Samba a very kewl server app so the subject isn't coming from someone that has a preference for Netware over samba. My issue is actually two-fold, one being the record locking problems in Samba and the other being the slowness of dos apps in samba. I'm not going to post any log messages here as I don't feel that for this post they're really very relevant.

[libvirt] LXC, user namespaces and systemd
Hi! I with my colleagues from Samsung trying to run systemd in Linux container. I saw that the others are experimenting in this topic, so I would like to present the results of my work and tests, perhaps it will be helpful to others. As the prototype I used a manual written by Daniel: https://www.berrange.com/posts/2013/08/12/running-a-full-fedora-os-inside-a-libvirt-lxc-guest/ After many

MARSNWE -vs- SAMBA...
Here's the deal, I've got a SuSE Linux 8.1 server w/ Samba 2.2.5 running on it. I cannot get an older multi-user database application to perform the correct record locking if it's coming from a drive letter mapped to the samba srvr. This program worked find off the old netware 3.12 srvr that was replaced w/ the new linux box. After many many nights of messing around w/ oplocks

Size of Mailbox affecting the sending of mail?
Hi, I didn't know where to post this one so I'll start off with you guys and then try Postfix if I'm barking up the wrong tree! Having set up my mail server (Dovecot/Postfix), users are experiencing long delays (a couple of minutes) when sending mail from mail client such as Thunderbird - this increases with attachments. Having had a brief discussion with someone, they mentioned
