dsync not copying all mail
Hi,
I'm still trying to migrate from Dovecot 1.2.16 to 2.0.7 on FreeBSD.
Previous attempts have failed with mails not being visible after the
upgrade. Version 1.2.16 was migrated from maildir to dbox about a year
ago via the convert-plugin. After previous attempts to "clean" the
hybrid maildir-dbox situation I used imapsync to copy all mails from the
old account to a new

Problem switching from LDA to LMTP (with Postfix)
Hello,
I am trying to switch from LDA to LMTP on a Postfix/Dovecot setup, but
something is going wrong.
I have followed the directions at:
https://wiki.dovecot.org/HowTo/PostfixDovecotLMTP
Here is a session from dovecot.log:

Aug 4 12:19:42 vmail2 dovecot: auth: ldap(imaptester at noa.gr): unknown user

Upgrade 1.0->1.2 dbox mysql
Hi,
I just upgraded to from dovecot v1.1.15 to v1.2.9 so I can use dovecot-
sieve.
Most everything seems to work but my webmail (roundcube) clients are
not seeing their subscribed folders.
Reading over the upgrade docs at http://wiki.dovecot.org/Upgrading/1.2
I'm wondering if I have the two settings below configured correctly.
dovecot.conf:

Dovecot and MySQL aborted connections.

I have a mailserver running MySQL 5.6.44 which is not very busy that logs these warnings.
Another busy one running MySQL 5.6.45 does not log any warnings.
MySQL interactive-/wait_timeout is 28800 (8 hours), which is more than enough time to wait for a

lots of warnings about aborted connections in the logs.
after digging into this issue the culprit was a new default setting

during the update the log_warnings changed from 1 to 2 therefore showing

Suggested location for single-dbox
I've updated http://wiki2.dovecot.org/MailLocation regarding a typical
mail_location entry for dbox.
Previously it said:
mail_location = dbox:~/dbox
but of course "dbox" is now the old name for "sdbox", so the example
should be updated to say "sdbox" and there might/ought also to be an
example for "mdbox".

dbox - how to awaken the monster
Hello people,
Since the invention of this storage called dbox, I have never quite gotten
round to understanding it, nor getting to use it. It seems so strange to me
and I must ask a few stupid questions about it.
I use the MTA to deliver mail to Maildir, either in ~/Maildir or
/some/path/%d/%n/Maildir. It has always beat me how dbox comes into play
under such circumstances. From the wiki, I see

Questions regarding dbox migration
It has been my wish to move to dbox for a long time hoping to reduce the
number of writes which is really killing us.
Now I wonder what may be the best way of doing so. I'm considering some
sort of intermediate migration where the existing Maildir users are
changed to single-dbox and then later upgraded to 2.0 and changed to
multi-dbox when it becomes stable.
But is this a reasonable task

Dovecot v1.2.rc5 dbox file permissions
Hi Timo,
I've just setup Dovecot v1.2.rc5 and switched the mailbox format of one
account to dbox. Therefor I've created an empty directory, called dbox,
with access mode 0700, like the user's home directory.
After the IMAP login with Thunderbird some dboxes was created. All
permissions were set fine (0700 / 0600), except the permissions for the
files:

dbox: maildir migration
I'm trying to clean up the code for Dovecot v2.0 and I just keep coming
back to the same thought: Is having the super-fast maildir ->
single-dbox migration really actually a good idea?
Some problems with it:
1. Makes the code more complex.. And I've already fixed many bugs
related to that, maybe not all.
2. Having some mails in maildir format and others in dbox format isn't

Get rid of the "dbox-Mails"-folder
Hey again,
I've found a working configuration: mail_location = sdbox:~/:FULLDIRNAME=.
I use a dot instead of slash or empty value.
Now my folder structure looks like I want and Dovecot is working fine.
Can anyone (maybe even a Dovecot developer?) say if the configuration is
okay? I've tried to check the source code, but I don't know C as good as
it's needed for that.

Get rid of the "dbox-Mails"-folder
Would it be possible to add the possibility in future releases that
DIRNAME respectively FULLDIRNAME could be empty (and works properly)?
Greetings,

The 'dbox' Format
I'd like to give the dbox format a try, but I could not find any information on how to enable it. There's information on how to set mail_location for the Maildir and mbox formats in the wiki and also in the commented configuration file, but how to set it for dbox is strangely missing. I took a guess with 'mail_location = dbox:~/dbox', but that didn't work, so it's probably

dbox benchmarks
http://hg.dovecot.org/dovecot-dbox-redesign/
Looks like multi-dbox scales pretty nicely. Even after 100k messages the
peak saved msgs/sec is the same as the initial saved msgs/sec, even if
the average slows down somewhat.
I tested this by first deleting mailbox, then running "imaptest" for a
second to get saving to start writing several fields to
dovecot.index.cache file. Then ran

Questions about dbox (sdbox?), mdbox
Hello,
So ive spent the last 45 minutes or so searching the list for dbox
stuff, but Im not seeing anything real definitive.
My question is basically whether the dbox format is ready for
production environment, is sdbox or mdbox more stable/ready than the
other or does it matter? What are people's experience/review with
running this format (and if you reply can you tell me which one

Dovecot 1.1rc3 crashes with Dbox + imap_quota plugin
Version: Dovecot v1.1.rc3
OS: CentOS 5 running in OpenVZ
CPU: x86_64
Was running fine with maildir and decided to get dbox a try. Test user
created with a dbox mailstore backend and when a client logs in that tries
to run a getquotaroot imap command the process SIGSEGV's.
Have been able to narrow it down to dbox crashing against dict quota as
well as dirsize. Maildir works just fine.
