dovecot 2.1.3 dsync Unexpected finish reply
I've been moving users from one system to another by doing a dsync
mirror operation. The first dsync mirror takes some time, because of the
number of users involved, so I am doing an initial sync, and then I
direct the users to the new location and do a final 'freshening' sync to
get any changes that happened during the longer sync.
The problem seems to be with this freshening sync,

dsync issue: "Server sent invalid input: Error parsing input: Unexpected ')'"
Hi,
I'm trying to use dsync (dovecot version 2.1.9) for IMAP only per-user
migration from other IMAP servers to my shiny new one. One worked quite
well, but there is a problem with an old IMAP server:

pop3 and dsync master-master replication issue causing duplicate delivery (resolved)
I had opened a thread a while ago in regards to dsync duplicate delivery issues. Here is an update in case anybody else is suffering from this:
https://dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2016-April/103973.html
We are using an LDAP backend for userdb and passdb lookups and this is causing multiple replication users to be created. Here is the broken setup:

Howto: Extremely tight security rsync shell for backups
We've been using rsync since forever to back up all our servers and it's
worked without a problem. But in a recent security review, we noted that
our specific rsync backup host is using root keys to access the server,
meaning that if the keys on the backup server were leaked/compromised in
any fashion, that would provide r00t access to the servers being backed up.

I got "403", "Forbidden"... please help
Hi,
I'm setting up Asterisk as a voicemail with SER. My problem is,
when a caller that is not registered with asterisk (no username and
password in sip.conf) it prompts "403, Forbidden" . I need all calls
from outside of my network to reach asterisk for my users' voicemails,
because anonymous users will surely reach voicemail of my users to leave

fts_solr on debian lenny dovecot 1.2.15
Hello,
I cannot run FTS SOLR engine. OS is debian lenny. I re-compiled debian
package (from backports) with --with-solr option. Dovecot loads fts_solr
plugin. I know that it loads plugin because if I remove lib21_fts_solr_plugin.so, dovecot does not start. But it does not attempt to communicate with SOLR.
Simple check: stop solr tomcat, and open 8080 port in netcat:
$nc -l -p 8080

fts squat non-english search for 2 words
Hello,
It looks I encoutered a bug or misconfiguration. fts_squat search for subject and body works excellent for English mails. For non-English (in particular, Russian) it works only when query consists of 1 word. Phrases - 2 and more words - always returns nothing. Example: search for "planet" ("???????") returns results, search for "Earth" ("?????") also

dsync backup touch source index files.
I don't know the answer to your question, but in case you don't get a suitable answer from someone better qualified than me, you might try having dovadm pull the data my making an imap connection to the older server like:
doveadm -o imapc_features=fetch-headers -o mail_prefetch_count=20 -o imapc_port=993 -o imapc_ssl=imaps -o imapc_ssl_verify=no -o mail_fsync=never -o

Curios case of UID
Hi,
Not sure if this has been asked before.
When we create new users in our AD box, they get the UIDs in high 30000
range. Is this normal? If yes, can we change the starting range?
We migrated using ClassicUpgrade, now running Ubuntu 18.04 VM
The smb.conf looks like
workgroup = ADDOM
realm = ADDOM.COM
netbios name = WNAD01
server role = active directory domain

Slow login using Samba 3.09 but Samba 2.27 works ok.
Hello!
We have Mandrake Linux 9.0 system with Samba v2.27 serving as a PDC
for ~400 users. (Hardware: P1800, 256Mb). The performance is
acceptable- user can log in in approx. 5 sec. (Includes copying ~700Kb
roaming profile).
Now we've got new server (P3000HT,512Mb,SATA) with Mandrake Linux 10.1
community and Samba 3.09 (compiled from sources). And guess what? Now

LMTP Post login script for acl_groups
I think, i had the same problem as you.
When dovecot runs lmtp, no user is logged in, so there is no user from
which you can get groups. So i think, my solution is (not really sure,
if this is right, it's a long time ago, i played around) this transport
in exim for local delivery
dovecot_delivery:?????????????
? debug_print = "T: dovecot_delivery_pipe for $local_part@$domain
