multi-instance doveadm user -m woes
I'm having difficulty with the doveadm who command on a multi-instance setup of dovecot. When I run the who command on the non-standard instance with the -m flag (to see their mail location), this happens: [root at wardentest3 dovecot]# doveadm -i mailtest user -m warden doveadm(root): Error: user warden: Initialization failed: Namespace 'INBOX.': Ambiguous mail location setting,

redirect actions exceeds policy limit
Hello, We have a vacation/mail forwarder plugin in squirrel mail that allows customers to forward email. It has come to my attention that there is a limit (appears to be 5) on the number of addresses that can be specified. I'm now trying to track down where this policy limit is set. This is the error we see in the customers .dovecot.sieve.log file: main_script: line 26: error: number of

Users can't use Dovecot IMAP
Every time a user logs into Dovcot's IMAP service PAM closes the session immediately after it opens. I would like a user to have a session open long enough to read some emails. dictator at drakeclasher:~$ sudo dovecot -n # 2.1.7: /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf # OS: Linux 3.14-0.bpo.1-amd64 x86_64 Debian 7.8 mail_location = maildir:~/Maildir namespace inbox

Sharing user folders doesn't work when users have periods in names.
I am using period as an IMAP separator with Maildir directories and I cannot share folders where the user has a period in their name. Suppose I log in as 'some.user' and do: SETACL INBOX mailtest at example.co.uk +lrwstipekxacd /var/mail/virtual/users/some.user/Maildir/dovecot-acl is created, with appropriate contents and shared-mailboxes.db gains an entry for

Investigating suspected cache corruption
Hi David and all, I?ve read the mail you posted in the Dovecot list. We?re are having this same problem in a site which is very similar to yours. We also migrated from Courier to Dovecot nearly 9 months ago, and every now and then users complain about slowness in the imap connection. We fix it by removing the index files in the user's maildir. We use Horde as webmail, but the problem

Hello list, I'll first describe my set up: server1 : live server server2 : backup server3 : backup of the backup so the data set is copied in this order server1->server2->server3 they are not done at the same time so there would be no collisions. Investigating suspected cache corruption
Hi All, I'm running Dovecot 1.1.11 for a site of about 7000 active users with a Squirrelmail frontend. We migrated from Courier (big shout to everyone who worked on the wonderful part of the Dovecot wiki that deals with Courier migration) and I have been extremely happy with the performance gains Dovecot has given us. Not only is the IMAP part of Squirrelmail faster, but our same

imap segfault in mail-cache.c
Found an imap crash. I'm using the CVS copy from March 23. This is running under Linux, kernel 2.6.11.something. We use mbox over NFS, everything is on the NFS server. There is currently only one dovecot server accessing the mailbox. Here's the log messages: dovecot: Apr 05 13:11:20 Error: 27911 IMAP(support): UIDVALIDITY changed (1112720886 -> 1112721068) in mbox file

Errors on mbox to Maildir conversion
I have Julian Fitzell's migrateuser.sh script which uses mb2md-3.20.pl to convert a mailbox in mbox format to Maildir. I have set up a test user called "mailtest" which has mail as follows: /var/mail/mailtest /home/mailtest/mail/ Drafts MoreStuff Sent Items Stuff After the conversion I want all this user's mail to be in /home/mailtest/Maildir/

1.1 master auth not expanding static userdb variables
Can dovecot-1.1 deliver work with static userdb? I'm currently running dovecot-1.0.12 and postfix-2.4.6, with virtual users' maildirs all owned by vmail and mail_location = maildir:/var/mail/%Lu. The following definition of the dovecot transport in postfix/master.conf works fine with dovecot-1.0: dovecot unix - n n - 1 pipe flags=DRh

imap segfault in mail-index-sync.c
Our support team seems to have caused another crash. They treat this mailbox like a shared one, so there may be a few people accessing it at once. They are mostly using dovecot, but some could be using uw-imap. These are the only two ways that this box is accessed. I know that this doesn't really work with mbox, but it doesn't appear to corrupt the mailbox. It seems to be a good stress

Segfault in imap process
We've been testing dovecot for a while and I noticed yesterday that imap crashes quite often. It seems to be about even with SIGABRT and SIGSEGV. This one was SIGSEGV. Our system is SuSE Linux 9.2, 2.6.11.5 kernel (also happened with an older 2.6 kernel). Dovecot version is 1.0-test64 and was compiled with: "./configure --prefix=/services/dovecot --disable-ipv6" It's using
