Should list return \HasChildren if no folders exist under it? I'm
using mbox format.

Thunderbird subscription bug ?
Hello Timo,
I'm having a hard time trying to understand why Thunderbird 3.0.3 doesn't allow
me to subscribe to a shared mailbox which I can subscribe to via Kmail for
instance.
I'm running dovecot-1.2.11/Maildir. The user 'doveimap' shares his mailbox
folder/subfolder to the 'dovepop' user which should see it in the '#shared'
shared namespace at the following

ACLs are applied recursively to sub mailboxes
Hi *,
The problem is most noticeable when a user shares his INBOX[0][1] with
others:
User A sets his INBOX acls to "eilprwtsd"
Now User B can see _all_ sub mailboxes and sub sub [...] mailboxes and
their contents of User A:
User A:
g getacl INBOX
* ACL "INBOX" "A at example.com" akxeilprwtscd "B at example.com" eilprwtsd "A at example.com"

Behavior difference in mbox versus Maildir listing
Hi,
My MUA (claws-mail) is having a hard time listing directories
for a mail account with two namespaces, one of which using mbox and the
other one using maildir to store mails.
Let's call the namespaces "#mbox." and "#maildir." and have "." as
separator.
Assume I have the following folder hierarchy:
$namespace
$namespace folder
$namespace folder folder1a

i have a strange "ghost" folder in my subscription list and just can't
find out how to get rid of it.
It seems to be someones Inbox, but it doesn't tell me whose.
Here's a screenshot of Open-Xchanges Web-GUI:

feature or bug on delete?
RFC 3501 mentions this:
The DELETE command MUST NOT remove inferior hierarchical names.
For example, if a mailbox "foo" has an inferior "foo.bar"
(assuming "." is the hierarchy delimiter character), removing
"foo" MUST NOT remove "foo.bar". It is an error to attempt to
delete a name that has inferior hierarchical

'r' flag in ACL stomping on 'l' flag effect
We're using Dovecot 1.0.3, and I'm setting up some shared IMAP
folders. The eventual goal is to do the standard "learn as spam" /
"learn as ham" type of setup, with some cron jobs to do the message
extractions.
But there's one minor twist: the "learn as ham" folder will need to
be write-only for users. (I'll either create a fake user with read

Children, HasChildren
Hello,
I'm using dovecot 0.99.10.2 on a debian box. Mailstore is maildir.
If I list the IMAP hierarchy in mutt (debian, 1.5.4+20031024-1) it shows
all my plain mailboxes as having subfolders - while none of them have.
I straced mutt and this is the IMAP exchange (a bit reformatted
for readability):
write(6, "a0001 LSUB \"\" \"%\"\r\n", 19) = 19
read(3, "

Dovecot Maildir - How to Seperate mail folders
Hi Timo,
thank you very much for your quick reply. I tried that but it is not possible to SELECT such a mailbox.

prefix =
location = maildir:/data/messages%h
inbox = yes
list = yes
}
namespace public {

A previously unreported lsub/list discrepancy in 1.1rc5 and earlier
Not sure about 1.0, I don't run it anymore :) But a few users discovered
for a small issue that only affects a very small portion of my userbase
where instructional correction will suffice. I guess I am reporting it
in the interest of getting it out there, and I can live with it if not
fixed but it might be an issue for some people. I'm running through my
list of issues. Basically,

Shared folder prefix listed multiple times with dovecot 2.1.1
Hi,
after upgrading from 2.0.18 to 2.1.1 I noticed that I could not use
shared folders with mutt anymore. 2.1 lists the shared namespace prefix
once per user sharing an folder in LIST "" "%".
I also noticed, that with 2.1 the user folder (Shared/<username>) is no
longer tagged as \NoSelect.
Is this the intended behaviour and mutt simply cannot cope with it or
is it a

Multiple mailboxes per user
My users currently have mail delivered to mulitple MailDir locations
via procmail.
~/mail/inbox/
~/mail/graph/
~/mail/spam/
I would like all these mailboxes to be exported via dovecot IMAP and
appear as folders. However, I can't anything beyond the INBOX working.
My approach is via 'namespaces'.
My config file is changed thusly:
$ sudo dovecot -n

\NoSelect on missing folders in LIST
Hi,
I noticed a difference between courier and dovecot, and I'm not sure
which of them is wrong wrt. RFC3501 - if any.
I have a Maildir which has been accessed by an Apple Mail client, so it
got folders like:
INBOX
INBOX.Trash
INBOX.INBOX.folder
INBOX.INBOX.folder.a
INBOX.INBOX.folder.b
The INBOX.INBOX folder does not exist on disk and is not subscribed.
Courier responds to:
