Userdb userdb_mail=, error Mailbox list driver maildir++: maildir_name not supported by this driver
I have this default configuration [0], when use the userdb_mail to point
to the mdbox location, the inbox subfolders show differently in a
firebird client. So I decided to copy the whole default mail_location
into the userdb_mail configuration [2]. But then I get errors [3].
Should I change the namespace configuration here, how? My default
namespaces are inbox and 4archives

Userdb userdb_mail=, error Mailbox list driver maildir++: maildir_name not supported by this driver
With this setting, all folders are empty, I guess understandable,
because the mdbox has its own indexes stored locally with it. Does not
explain though why inbox is empty.

outlook 2007 very slow.
Hello
I have a user with 2500+ sub folders. Total mailboxes size is around
6G. (mdbox, dovecot 2:2.0.14)
Syncing/Receiving appears to be slow, with outlook 2007. He does not
want to switch to an alternative, due to various reasons.
I did not find any error logs indicate issues.
during idle, imap process appears to loop at adding inotify watches to
all folders.
I found outlook-idle in wiki,

Return extra fields from passwd userdb
Hi,
thanks for your helpful reply.
I understand that default_fields is not my solution.
To be more accurate, all users in ldap db need to use mail, but some
users in /etc/passwd file use mail too.
For this reason I set up "driver=passwd" in userdb section and in
/etc/nsswitch.conf I set up "passwd: files ldap".
Now I want to use dovecot per user quota to limit ldap

Sub-Sub-Subfolders not shown after converting from maildir to mdbox
Hi again,
I just recognized a problem concerning subfolders after converting from
maildir to mdbox. Thunderbird and SeaMonkey don?t show folders that are
subfolders of subfolders.
Have a look at the filesystem:
discovery:/var/mail/domain.tld/patrick/mdbox/mailboxes/Folder1/Folder2#
ls -l

mdbox: Cannot create subfolder called "dbox-Mails" (2.0beta5)
I am trying out "mdbox" under Dovecot 2.0beta5.
Looking in the "mailboxes" directory under the mdbox storage root
("~/dbox" in my case), I can see that the mail folders are mapped into
filesystem directories.
But Dovecot seems to put all the message list information
("dovecot.index.cache", "dovecot.index.log") for any given mail folder

Overriding inbox= in userdb extra fields
Hello,
I'm trying to set up an alternate user with a different inbox using passwd-file and userdb extra fields and the extra field settings don't seem to be taking effect. I've used auth_debug and mail_debug and I'm unclear how I can further troubleshoot this.
Is it possible to have inbox=yes in one namespace globally and then override this for one user by setting inbox=no for

These numbers roughly match my results. About 6 TB of mail compresses
down to about 3 TB.

use a second userdb that only returns extra fields
Hi!
Is it possible to get all basic userdb information from the passwd
userdb and add a second userdb of type checkpassword that only sets some
additional extra fields like namespaces?
I tried the following setup:
-------------------- 8< --------------------
userdb {
driver = passwd
result_success = continue-ok
}
userdb {
driver = checkpassword
args = /usr/local/sbin/dovecot-userdb.py

The documentation at https://wiki.dovecot.org/UserDatabase/ExtraFields
states that "It's possible to override settings from dovecot.conf", as
well as the following:

"The current operation on 'projects' did not succeed. The mail server

doveadm mailbox status - getting the size in bytes
Hi,
doveadm has an option to get the "vsize" of mailboxes, which is
calculated by counting the number of linefeeds, but there does not
appear to be way to simply get the size in bytes of a mailbox. I was
wondering if there is something I am missing (I am using mdbox), or if
not is it possible to implement this.
Thanks
