Joining an AD domain when hostname != netbios name
I'm trying to join a RHEL5 host to an AD domain, and can do this successfully when I set those hostname to the same value as the samba "netbios name" parameter. However, when I try with a hostname != netbios name, it fails. Is it possible to join a machine when the hostname isn't the same as the netbios name? The reason for wanting this is because I have a whole load of servers

Auto Vacation replies again
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Sorry to bring this up again. I have now configured my test server to pass all email messages off to our central campus email filter gateway. This gateway scans all email traffic for viruses/spam before being delivered to any local mail servers. Once I did this my auto vacation replies are getting canned due to the fact the from header line is empty

Dovecot auto vacation with sieve doesn't work
Guys, I'm running out of hair to pull out ;). Can anyone out there say that this does work?? To me this is looking like a bug and I'm not sure whether it's the sieve plugin or the dovecot deliver program. I have also had no luck the the "reject" sending any reply back to the sender. My setup: OS: Solaris 10 sparc platform postfix: 2.5.2 dovecot: 1.1.2 sieve plugin: 1.1.5

dovecot-lmtp and postfix
Hi all, I?ve got postfix setup to use dovecot-lmtp for (virtual) user delivery, and things to users or aliases that Dovecot knows about now get delivered correctly. However, I?ve done something wrong with postfix and/or the LMTP configuration because upon RCPT TO, instead of forwarding the mail off to the configured smartest, somehow dovecot-lmtp is ending up in the mix. (Perhaps this is more a

Intermittent "cannot update mailbox" problems w/ postfix & dovecot
I hate asking questions on mailing lists, but I've exhausted my googling and FAQ trawling skills. If I've missed the pertinent doc, please tell me where to RTFM. Environment: I'm running postfix 2.3.2 on a Solaris 10 server. Mail goes into standard mbox format in /var/mail. Users can access their mail via shell (pine, mutt), POP3 or IMAP, and the pop3/imap server is

Migrating from Cyrus to Dovecot
Hi, we are migrating from Cyrus 2.3.7 to Dovecot 2.2.13. We have ~7000 maildirs with ~500GB. Our goal is to do the migration without users have notice and with the shortest service downtime. The users use IMAP (with shared folders and ACL), POP3 and sieve filters. As a first choice, we tried the Dovecot's dsync tool. First tests were great, but we are not able to change the Cyrus auth

setgid failed - Not owner
Hello ALL, I got errors on a new installation, maybe I forgot something. The system is Solaris, Dovecot 1.2.10, Postfix 2.7.0, MySQL 5.1.25. Can send mail with dovecot imap, but can`t retrieve the messages. Strange, I can save and retrieve draft messages ok, files are always with postfix:postfix ownership. Sorry if this is newbie question, but can`t find a solution. Syslog info: Apr 19

LMTP: userdb lookup - user-filter with variables
I tried to use dovcots lmtp instead of dovecot-lda. postfix has in master.cf ... dovecot-lda -f ... -d ${user} to separate the user part from user at hostname.domain. So lookup of "user" succeeds in userdb (LDAP) done by dovecot-lda. I have always local addresses like to=<user at hostname.domain> postfix/lmtp[6579]: [ID 197553 mail.info] B3CDA66A16: to=<h0094slk at
