Doubt about Unix Attributes
I can configure UidNumer and gidNumber attributes by Microsoft RSAT tool
and the value is stored. When I click again on the tab "Unix Attributes"
appears a message saying "Not is possible the execution". I click OK button
and the attribute is correct.
Why appear this message?
How can I verify if the NIS service is working correctly?

Problem using pam_winbind to authenticate with Windows 2003 Active Directory Server.
We're trying to have AD Domain Users authenticate to AD server to login
to a Redhat Enterprise Linux AS (3.0) server.
Were running samba 3.06 on the Linux box. We're using specifically
winbind and pam_winbind for this purpose.
I've followed all the instructions in the HOW-TO samba documentation on
setting up windbind, kerberos, and pam_winbind.
I've successfully logged into the

Dovecot deliver with AD LDAP userdb
Good Afternoon,
I have my virtual users stored in an Active Directory database. As far
as mail info goes the 2 important fields are: mail (their primary
email address) and otherMailbox (a multivalue attribute containing
their mail aliases). Right now all email addresses belong in the same
domain and there are no immediate plans to change this.
If I use Postfix to do the lookups and delivery only

dovecot 1.2 and quota_rules from AD
Hi
I?m trying to figure how to proper configure postfix+dovecot to enforce
quotas from a AD (ldap). I?m using the following configuration:
dovecot.conf:
...
protocol lda {
mail_plugins = quota
..
}
auth default {
passdb ldap {
args = /etc/dovecot/dovecot-ldap-pass.conf
}
userdb ldap {
args = /etc/dovecot/dovecot-ldap.conf
}
...
}
plugin {
quota = maildir:User quota

samba4 adding an index to sam.ldb
I have a large installation >20k users. We're using samba4 for AD Authentication, and also email address validation. I'm trying to edit the @INDEXLIST in sam.ldb to add an index on otherMailbox to speed up searches (0.05 sec for indexed, vs 2.5 sec for non-indexed searches) I'm finding that when I use ldbedit to do this, it appears to add the additional @IDXATTR. However, when I

[Samba 4.5] Very slow LDAP Queries (almost unusable), performance tunning ?
Are use using zarafaAccount=1 withing the search filters?
I use this things like this :
(&(objectClass=person)(zarafaAccount=1)(|(mail=%s)(otherMailbox=%s)))
Or for groups.
(&(objectclass=group)(zarafaAccount=1)(|(mail=%s)(otherMailbox=%s)))
That helps a lot.
! If you switch to kopano beware to change the SCHEMA and filters
zarafaAccount changed to kopanoAccount

Classic upgrade - no email addresses
Hi Rowland,
Perhaps I misled you with my wording. Each user has just one email
address, which was not migrated across. From where I'm sitting that
looks like a very serious bug.

John

[Samba 4.5] Very slow LDAP Queries (almost unusable), performance tunning ?
Can you tell more about your setup?
Is zarafa and samba on the same server for example.
Which MTA are you using postfix/exim?
My top was about 150 users, and all my printers are connected also so about 200 devices do ldap searches.
but my setup is split over 10+ servers ( 2 are AD DC )
So best is to tell what you can about your setup, anonimize if needed.

Dovecot+Samba AD - authentication failure
Hi,
I have setup samba4 as AD and hoping to have dovecot authenticate users
against it. I am facing challenges though and I am unable to figure it out.
I could do with a third eye to help me spot what is wrong.
root at adc0:/etc# doveadm auth test -x service=imap odhiambo at newideatest.local
Password:
passdb: odhiambo at newideatest.local auth failed

Classic upgrade - no email addresses
I've been running through a bunch of tests after migrating from Samba 3
to Samba 4 and only just noticed that the user email addresses didn't
come across from openldap. Is this a know issue or is this an isolated case?

My dovecot works fine against Active Directory 2003, but not against AD2008
Hello,
my dovecot installation has been working fine against AD till we upgrade
from AD 2003 to AD 2008. As http://wiki2.dovecot.org/AuthDatabase/LDAP
said, now I'm not able to connect AD through 389 port. The port 3268
works fine though.

Sorry about that I typed and sent a full message, but it looks like the entire body got swallowed up in transit. Here is the full text again. Let's hope this one works.
I have a server running CentOS 7.9 with the system provided Samba packages (4.10.16-24.el7_9). It is joined to an Active Directory domain and acting as a member server. The active Directory domain has a user object with among

I figured it out, there certainly is something different! The
AuthDatabase/LDAP documentation on the Dovecot Wiki says "When
connecting to AD, use port 3268". Port 3268 is used for Global Catalog
searching. By default the Active

My dovecot works fine against Active Directory 2003, but not against AD2008
Fran and/or Matthias,
Could you publish your doveconf -n? I can't get dovecot to authenticate with my
AD. Maybe you have a solution I could try.
What mail client(s) are you using? I assume by "AD 2003/8" You mean SBS2003/8
and are therefore using Outlook?
