Xen w/ Matrox Parhelia - cpu_callout_map
I''ve been attempting to use my machine with a Matrox Parhelia card with the Fedora Core 6 Xen kernel. The Matrox card requires a kernel module. The module builds without error, but fails to load due to an unknown symbol, "cpu_callout_map". I submitted this issue to the Unofficial Matrox Technical Support Forum, but haven''t been able to resolve anything yet:

https://blog.centos.org/2020/12/future-is-centos-stream/
The future of the CentOS Project is CentOS Stream, and over the next year we?ll be shifting focus from CentOS Linux, the rebuild of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), to CentOS Stream, which tracks just ahead of a current RHEL release. CentOS Linux 8, as a rebuild of RHEL 8, will end at the end of 2021. CentOS Stream continues after that date, serving as the upstream (development) branch of Red

Anybody ever notice...
It could be a little bug or a fault in my setup but I notice that after I end an Rcmdr session I can't restart it without restarting Rgui (Windows) Do I need to add something to my environment variables? Is it an issue with Tcl/Tk or it's settings? Or what? It is not a big deal but if someone has a fix for this I would give it a shot I usually start Rcmd from the console library(Rcmdr)

ActionMailer -- anybody ever see this?
I''ve got a mailer that works -- about every other time. Authentication fails the other half of the time. There doesn''t seem to be any particular pattern to it -- work once, fail once, work three times, fail twice, .... For example, here''s one attempt from my development.log: Sent mail: Date: Sun, 2 Jul 2006 18:50:57 -0500 From: someone <someone@something.org>

backup / compressed copy
Hi, I think about buying a NAS-server from Sun. To backup this server I want to use our central to-tape backup. For whatever reason ppl are asking me to make one compressed copy to disk and only backup this copy. So to reduce load I'd like to have a script that: identifies changed files only (using md5?) copies them and compresses them storeBackup.pl does something similar, but keeps

JPackage, Java 1.5.0, and CentOS 5?
Hey, y'all. I don't know how many folks here are familiar with a blogging program called 'pebble' http://pebble.sourceforge.net, but it's *supposed* to be an easy drop-in to a tomcat5 container. I suppose that it is, once I figured out how to get tomcat 5 working in CentOS 5, but I'm still having problems with the java. CentOS comes with Java 1.4.2, but I need Java

Raid tools for hardware raid?
Okay, this is probably a stupid question, but here goes: We've got a database server that I'm going to wipe clean and install the latest OS. It's running 2.1 right now, and it has a hardware raid. I've found lots of stuff on software raid tools, but are there any tools on hardware raid? We've got another box, an IBM AS/400, and when one of it's raid disks fail

system-config-bind?
I'm trying to move our bind-8 from a redhat 9 box to a bind-9 on a CentOS-4 box. I'm not as good as I'd like to be in bind, so I thought I'd use the configuration tool. But I can't find it! I've tried yum search system-config-bind, googling, everything I can think of. Is the tool just plain gone? Thanks! Ben

Updating the DVD ISO howto?
I seem to remember this being addressed before, but I can't find the howto anywhere. I've got a friend heading to another country with VERY limited bandwidth. He'd like me to update the 4.4 DVD to include all of the updated RPMS from updated. Where can I find the scripts to update the meta data on the RPMS and create a new bootable DVD? Thanks! Ben

[lld] Has anybody ever run into the Solaris linker before?
Recently LLD made it to the front page of HN (yay!): https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=13670458 This comment about the Solaris linker surprised me: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=13672364 """ > To me, the biggest advantage is cross compiling Not all system linkers have this problem. For example, Solaris ld(1) is perfectly capable of cross-linking any valid ELF file.

yum priorities and obsoleting...
Hey, I ran into a yum conflict regarding an repoforge extra package obsoleting a base package. The thing is that I set a lower priority to repoforge extra... Any idea how come I ran into this issue...? The question is more about the yum priorities than repoforge. ... 1743 packages excluded due to repository priority protections ... --> Running transaction check ---> Package

Ruby RRDtool bindings and CentOS 5
For whatever reason, the RPMForge package ruby-rrdtool doesn''t play nice on my CentOS 5.1 box with puppetmaster. It installs site_ruby/1.8/i386-linux/RRD.so, which puppetmaster is unable to find (and the suggested test of ruby -rRRDtool -e ''puts :yep'' fails). Using ln to link RRD.so to RRDtool.so works for the command line test, but still fails for puppetmaster. This

can't install rrdtool, problems with dependancies
Hi all, I have tried to install rrdtool manually, but have noticed that I need perl-rrdtool as well for it to work, and I have approached this the wrong way. So, instead of installing rpmforge first, I have downloaded the rrdtool from sourceforge and installed it the old-fashioned way, totally forgot about rpmforge. So, now I want to remove it, and install it via rpmforge in order to get
