Can login but can't add a machine to AD.
I'm finally moving to ad, after way way too long. I did the classic upgrade, and my existing PC's all can log in fine. I can make new user accounts, and log in on those machines fine. My ddns (with bindz) seems to be working, and I do see new ip addresses pop up in there. The problem is I can't add a new Windows machine to the domain. When I trying joining the domain from Windows

tcpdump:libpcap:compilation problem
Dagmar d'Surreal wrote: > Original text cut My fault is that the instructions were for SlackwareLinux 3.3 andI *did not* mention that! Please, accept my appologies ... But also you can read from the INSTALL of tcpdump, that *if* you want you can leave it under the structure of tcpdump source tree, especially if you have any problems. On my system it wouldn't want to compile

Mounting a Samba Share in /etc/fstab
Hey all, As most of you know, I've been having problems (hopefully solved by now, won't know until friend is able to reshare his box) with SAMBA over the internet. On my local area network, I am using SAMBA for a one way connection just fine. my question is as follows. Can I make an fstab entry so I can mount the XP share whenever I boot? The reason I ask is because currently Wine

[ smbfs ] Does it support ACLS?
Hello there friends & foes, I've had if with M$ windows! Next week I'll sabotage my shop (how 'bout password protecting dualboots on WS) and force LINUX down my users' throats ;-) (oh, don't I like this tone... makes me feel Billy G.) Oops, showstopper! ACL enabled network filesystem, where is it? I can't go with alpha code nfs4, so is there a patch to the smb

Old 16bit windows game in Linux!!!!
I have Ubuntu 8.04 and I am trying to run and old Windows 95/3.1 MPOG game called Legends Of Kesmai. The Game needs to be in the root directory i.e. C:\legends and also needs to be run in 16 bit color. I have managed to change my color to 16 bit via editing my xorg.conf and changing the 24's to 16's. However when I try to execute the lokclient.exe file, it just closes itself without any

Samba client for Win32?
On the face of it may sound like a useless thing to have, but a Win32 Samba client does have some merit. It would make the Samba server safe from sabotage by gratuitous protocol changes, and it opens the door to making performance improvements. I see the Samba win32 client sitting alongside whatever MS supply rather than replacing it, so that an MS client can talk to an MS server. However, when

Community: How to deal with attempts at sabotage
Hi all, The underlying assumption of membership in any community is that your participation is at worst neutral, and if possible positive. Communities, online or off, generally do what they can to protect themselves from detrimental influences, which is where policies, politeness, moderators, and all that come into play. Puppet''s community has been both fortunate and awesome,

Too many open files: what might cause this?
So a few people just reported that they couldn't make any calls. I logged into asterisk and at first everything on the console looked normal, then I got swamped with messages about too many open files. This is from my asterisk/messages log file: [Oct 2 16:46:00] WARNING[19429] rtp.c: Unable to allocate RTCP socket: Too many open files [Oct 2 16:46:00] WARNING[19429] udptl.c: Unable to

Hello e-mail software developers and users! I'd like to ask all of you a question. And of course hear relevant opinion. I've been using free software happily for a few years, and I found free/open source alternatives for many popular proprietary tools such as Facebook, Dropbox, Micro$oft Windows & Office, Youtube, Skype and many many others. Some of the alternatives are probably

debug biglm response error on bigglm model
G'morning What does the error message "Error in x %*% coef(object) : non- conformable arguments" indicate when calculating the response values for newdata with a model from bigglm (in package biglm), and how can I debug it? I am attempting to do Monte Carlo simulations, which may explain the loop in the code that follows. After the code I have included the output, which shows that
