Documentation for "altpath" / "altmove" / ?"Alternate storage"
I was thinking about documentation for alternate storage.
We have a few mentions at:
http://wiki2.dovecot.org/MailboxFormat/dbox
http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Tools/Doveadm
http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Tools/Doveadm/Altmove
But I was thinking it would be helpful if there could be a page about
alternate storage.
I could write the page, but I currently have so many unknowns that I
think it would be

performance problems with {s,m}dbox
using rc3 and with the latest pigeonhole, I had problems with dovecot
(deliver) keeping up with high volumes of E-mail. I tried sdbox, mdbox, and
cyrdir all with similar (failed) result. using the
default Maildir I had no problems. I did not try mbox. The problems seemed
to happen when there were multiple deliver's running to the same folder I
had defined in my sieve rules, either it would

I tried to migrate my dovecot 2.2 to a new server with a other storage
configuration and dovecot 2.3.
New (and old) Server uses mysql for user information
I use the following storage settings

v2.1 memory usage
v2.1's imap/pop3 processes are linked with OpenSSL by default, because of imapc/pop3c storages. I wonder if you notice any actual (system-global) memory usage reduction when compiling without those and you have thousands of imap processes?
./configure --with-storages=mdbox sdbox maildir mbox cydir
I guess I could try it myself also but maybe someone else wanting to reduce memory usage is

1.1.Beta9 deliver problem: Unknown mail storage driver raw
Hello,
I'm new to dovecot, trying to configure a Postfix/Dovecot system.
Got everything in place - smtp with dovecot SASL and imap working fine,
maildir is created, thunderbird logs in successfuly .. but the Dovecot
LDA gives me this error on delivery: "Couldn't create internal raw
storage: Unknown mail storage driver raw".
I tried searching the configuration manual,

Can you create file /etc/dovecot/conf.d/10-ssl.conf
and type in 'ssl = yes'
and nothing else? does it work after this? leave the default_vsz_limit
off for now.

Mails, work and so on
You can probably guess from my flood of mails that I'm no longer busy. I
still have a couple of exams but since I haven't spent any time at all
studying for them or attending the lectures, I can just as easily leave
them for next year.
I've read and answered most of the "easy" mails in this list and in my
INBOX. I'll try to answer the rest of them this weekend, so no

kqueue bug?
Apparently Dovecot with kqueue ioloop enabled causes random crashes in FreeBSD 9.1. Anyone else noticed something like that? I'm wondering if Dovecot's kqueue code has a bug somewhere (I can't find it) or could it be that FreeBSD itself has a bug? Anyway it seems to be returning events for filters that have already been removed.

meaning of parameter imap_idle_notify_interval??
Hello,
is my understanding of the parameter "imap_idle_notify_interval" right,
if i say,
it's the time between two point where dovecot tells the client he is
here, and
sould have nothing directly todo with the notification of new mails arrived.
I played with the values around. And the courios is, in thunderbird the
folloing.
