rc15 in FC6
Hi,
just a note that FC6 now has the very latest of dovecot as an official
update. :)
It will upgrade the atrpms packages automatically to the official
vendor version, there is nothing you need to take care of.

beta5 builds under RHEL
Hi,
beta4 built under RHEL4, RHEL5 and RHEL6 (the latter being the public
beta). beta5 now builds only for RHEL5, the other two fail with:
strnum.c: In function `str_to_llong':
strnum.c:139: error: `LLONG_MIN' undeclared (first use in this function)
strnum.c:139: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once
strnum.c:139: error: for each function it appears in.)
Thanks!

pigeonhole: naming and versioning
Hi Stephan,
many thanks for all the work you do on the new sieve parts to dovecot.
As a (downstream) packager I have some questions:
a) pigeonhole is called a working title - will the final release
be called something else like dovecot-sieve again?
b) The versioning seems to go from 0.1.15 to 0.1.13. From a packager's
POV it would be better to allow a natural version upgrade
path.

2.2.12 RPM Needed
Greetings,
I'm not very experienced in building Source RPMs and we're in need of a
Dovecot RPM for version 2.2.12 for CentOS 5. It seems that the ATRPMs
repo maintained by Axel Thimm hasn't seen much activity lately and the
task of updating a source RPM is more than I have time for as a busy
developer who does systems admin on the side.
Could anybody recommend another repo

Trying to understand Suspend 2
I am trying to understand Suspend 2 and what I have to do to get it
working in Centos 5. There is quite a bit for it at ATrpms:
http://www.atrpms.net/dist/el5/hibernate-suspend2/
http://www.atrpms.net/dist/el5/kernel-suspend2/
The later is the kernel patches that they refer to at the Suspend2
website, so I don't have to recompile the kernel?
I noticed that over at:

dsync mbox->mdbox II: highest_modseq changed
Hi again,
after replacing CRLF in 4 mboxes dsync was able to sync all of the 30+GB
mailstore to mdbox.
Now the (repeated) calling of dsync yields info messages of the kind
dsync(athimm): Info: old/speicher: highest_modseq changed: 1 != 10
dsync(athimm): Info: root/root-heretic: highest_modseq changed: 1 != 10

Workaround for evolution?
Hi,
evolution has a bug when it comes to closing and IDLE' connection:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=628515
evolution does not send a DONE command, and dovecot properly answers
with an error. evolution ignores this and seems to wait on another
response.
Timo, do you think there could be a setting for tolerating missing
DONEs? Thanks!

Differences: ADS vs Samba-3 controlled domain
Hi,
what are the essential differences between a Samba 3 controlled domain
(thus an NT4-legacy domain) vs an ADS Microsoft controlled domain?
AFAICT single-sign on, common password backends etc. can be modelled
with LDAP & KRB. Without ADS I cannot use some Microsoft GUIs to
add/edit/remove users/printers/file shares. Also deploying group
policies seems to be harder.

Centos 5 - Setting up yum for ATrpms
I think I found one of my setup problems. I followed instructions at: http://atrpms.net/install.html
And now I see that the information shown there to put into yum.conf (that I put into yum.repo.d/atrpms.repo) is only for FC, not for RL5 (thus Centos 5).
What do I use in my atrmps.repo to get it to access the RL5 directories?

dovecot lda & sieve: resubmit folder for resieving
Hi,
I'm currently restructuring my mail archives and migrated from a decade
and a half old procmail supported solution to sieve.
While doing so I often found that I'd like to filter a bunch of messages
(with "bunch" in the area of 1-10K) with my shiny new sieve script. I
found in the wiki a way to do that:
http://wiki.dovecot.org/HowTo/RefilterMail
And it works well, it picks

locking.tdb: expand_file ftruncate to 8192 failed (Permission denied)
Hi,
I'm hunting a bug in 3.0.x (tested on 3.0.10 and 3.0.20). Users can
create and modfy files, but cannot delete them. The logs show

Do I really have the right ATrpms repo?
I copied exactly where Axel provided into atrmps.repo. I have the line:
atrpms.repo:baseurl=http://dl.atrpms.net/el5-x86_64/atrpms/stable
but the rpms that are being flagged as updates pretty much all have fc5
in their names.
e.g.:
---> Package mplayer-fonts.noarch 4:1.0-7.at set to be updated
---> Package mplayer.i386 4:1.0-60_r23482.fc5 set to be updated

Madwifi just seems to work in Centos 5
I have not installed the madwifi specific kernel stuff (kdml and
hal-kdml) from atrpms. I have installed with wpa rpms.
And my Atheros card is working with almost no work on my part (other
than runing wpa_supplicant as a deamon).
Nice!

Yum + priorities plugin question
Hello all!
I've recently started using the priorities plugin as part of my best
practices. It's very effective, and prevents nasty things from
happening (like atrpms upgrading python and disabling yum.)
I'm wondering if there's a simple and elegant way to allow
package-name-based exclusions. For example: For my mysql cluster, I'd
prefer to have the latest mysql and

compressed mbox patch
Some ages ago there existed a compressed mbox patch, but now all I can
find are posting about it. Does such a beast exist and would it
remotely apply to today's dovecot?
If not, is there any hope that something like that emerges?
Thanks!

OT: best linux imap client for dovecot
Hi,
I'm a long term dovecot user, packager and believer, but on the other
side of the wire I've been a mutt user for longer than I can think.
Which modern email client under Linux is working best with dovecot? I
just did a grep on User-Agent:/X-Mailer: on my dovecot archive (which
goes back to 2004) and found that the top ten are:
28% Thunderbird
25% Evolution
9% Apple Mail
9% Mutt

Dovecot can't start with error pop3-login & imap-login not supported protocol family
I've done the installation (rpm downloaded from the RHES4 link
given by Oli below) but dovecot won't start, it gave
the error pop3-login & imap-login not supported by protocol.
I'm sure with a much older version (in my previous post) of
dovecot, I'm able to start up dovecot & it did not give this
error. Thought dovecot is suppose to come with pop3 & imap?

Firefox and Thunderbird 2.0, Centos 5, and rpms
I am making some progress on my Centos 5 notebook build.
So I am looking at Firefox and Thunderbird 2.0.
Should I install them? Or is Redhat correct that there is nothing
improved here and wait for 3.0? (well I have not even had a chance to
look at Thunderbird 2.0, that is new)?
I have the install steps we covered here back on 2/2/07; but are there
rpms? I did not find anything over at
