Assistance with doveadm backup...
I am having trouble locating examples of how to use doveadm backup. All the examples I see are for sync. I simply want to create a backup to a network volume of the email server's vmail folders. The goal here is to have a reasonably current backup should the main drive on the email server go south. We currently authenticate our users from a mysql database. User?s mailboxes are stored as

Assistance with doveadm backup...
Ok, so for lack of any other information, am I to conclude that the doveadm backup command is broken in 2.0.9? I have been through the wiki for it back and forth and cannot make it work. Yes, I need to upgrade, there is no question, but I won?t do that without a maildir backup. I would prefer to use the built-in dovecot mechanisms for that than something else. doveadm mailbox status 2.0.12 crashes
My gdb won't cooperate and produce a backtrace so I hope this dbx stack trace gives sufficient clues as to why it crashed. It happended when I was testing a doveadm command for a user which a large collection of mboxs: # dbx doveadm (dbx) run mailbox status -u user messages \* ... long list ... igel messages=1 INBOX messages=231 doveadm(user): Panic: Trying to deinit storage

doveadm mailbox create -7 … returns 0
Hi Timo, I'm using doveadm in my script to create [sm]dboxes. For some reason I forgot to remove the -7 option in my script. I wondered why no mailboxes were created and the script didn't report an error - it checks the exit status from doveadm. The problem: doveadm mailbox create -7 ? returns 0 Regards, Pascal -- The trapper recommends today: f007ba11.1020305 at localdomain.org

doveadm mailbox: rc=0 on error
Hi all, I use "doveadm mailbox mutf7 -7 $folder" to convert imap foldernames to UTF-8. If $foldername is not mUTF-7 encoded, doveadm returns "doveadm(root): Error: Mailbox name not valid mUTF-7: $folder" This errormessage is printed on stderr but the returncode of doveadm is zero. I tested with dovecot-2.0.* and dovecot-2.1.* # all right: $ doveadm mailbox mutf7 -7

doveadm mailbox list
It's quite likely I'm doing it wrong, but... Given a valid mailbox... doveadm mailbox list -u <username> realmb returns "realmb" doveadm mailbox list -u <username> real* returns "realmb" Seems reasonable. Now, with a non-existent mailbox... doveadm mailbox list -u <username> bogus returns "bogus" doveadm mailbox list -u

doveadm import with subfolder oddity
This has got to be something weird in my config. And the standard disclaimer of '"happy to post doveconf -n, but wanted to see if this is normal first" :) Background: Ubuntu Xenial, running 2.2.36. Mailbox type is mdbox and I've got a period separator in my inbox namespace: namespace { hidden = no inbox = yes list = yes location = mailbox Spam { auto = no

Can you "doveadm search" with mailbox location instead of a user (-u option)?
Hey dovecot-users! doveadm import offers to use i.e. a maildir as source and then import into a users mailbox referenced via "-u" option. If one wants to import only certain emails from the source a search-query can be given as well. I was wondering if doveadm search also does offer to search a mailbox referenced by filesystem path i.e. doveadm search

doveadm mailbox create error codes
Hello, I'm trying to find out what the different 'doveadm mailbox create' error codes are. I've been looking through the source, but I can't seem to find them. I did determine that '65' happens when "Error: Can't create mailbox x: Mailbox already exists", but I've also received error 67, and the more mysterious error code 16640. Thanks for any

doveadm mailbox subscribe wildcard
Hi, I noticed that wildcards work like the following, as described in the man page: # doveadm mailbox list -s -u bob dovecot* dovecot dovecot/pigeonhole dovecot/pigeonhole/2.0 however, wildcard subscriptions don't work: # doveadm mailbox subscribe -u bob dovecot* # doveadm mailbox list -s -u bob dovecot* dovecot dovecot* dovecot/pigeonhole

doveadm mailbox delete not working
One more update, I tried renaming that "[Test " folder to just "Test", which creates an also not deletable folder "Test". Good news is, if I delete these folders on both replication nodes from mdbox/mailboxes and mdbox/subscriptions they seem to be really gone. I can event create the folder "Test" again and it behaves normal aka. I can delete it afterwards

doveadm backup + ISO 8859-1 mailbox name
Hi! I'm trying to migrate a mailbox from an old IMAP server (not Dovecot) to a new Dovecot server with 'doveadm backup'. The command fails because of an unexpected character in a mailbox name: doveadm -o imapc_user=ag at example.org \ -o imapc_password=XXX \ -o imapc_host=old-mailserver.webflow.de \ -o imapc_port=993 \ -o imapc_ssl=imaps \
