imap-postlogin and doveadm
We are configuring location= running a bash-script during imap-postlogin
setting $MAIL in $USERDB_KEYS, as described in wiki/PostLoginScripting.txt
This works fine.
However, running a command like 'dovadm index [-u user] folder'
only works for users with settings that match the default in mail_location=
Would it be possible to make the location available for doveadm
in a similar way,

LMTP: userdb lookup - user-filter with variables
I tried to use dovcots lmtp instead of dovecot-lda.
postfix has in master.cf ... dovecot-lda -f ... -d ${user} to separate
the user part from user at hostname.domain.
So lookup of "user" succeeds in userdb (LDAP) done by dovecot-lda.
I have always local addresses like to=<user at hostname.domain>
postfix/lmtp[6579]: [ID 197553 mail.info] B3CDA66A16:

forwarded message is broken in 2.2.10 with pigeonhole-0.4.2
Hi,
forwarding a message with sieve like
redirect:copy "me at other.domain";
was working without any problem until dovecot-2.1.17, dovecots lmtp and
dovecot-2.1-pigeonhole-0.3.5.
Using dovecot-2.2.10 , dovecots lmtp and dovecot-2.2-pigeonhole-0.4.2
the structure of a forwarded message is broken. Content of a message is

Panic: file mailbox-list-fs.c
Hi,
I have dovecot 2.0.3.
Mailboxes have been converted with dsync from mbox to maildir last week.
There it was still version 2.0.2.
A user "produces" now this error:
imap(userx): Panic: file mailbox-list-fs.c: line 150
(fs_list_get_path): assertion failed:
(mailbox_list_is_valid_pattern(_list, name))
Error: Raw backtrace: follows.
And all other imap processes are closing down.

dovecot 2.0 rc4, expire, sqlite
Hello,
I will use expire like described within wiki2.dovecot.org/Plugins/Expire
with sqlite for a folder AutoCleanSpam.
If I copy a message (with TB) into that folder, I get an error if there
exists no entry for that user and that folder within the database:

Setting up public mailboxes - user not found
Hi all,
This is the first time I use the dovecot mail list so I?m sorry if I forget something.
My problem is that for some reason I can get public mailboxes to work. I have setup the directory Public, the folders and the cur,tmp and new folder in them:
Public

Here is my dovecot conf:

dsync backup touch source index files.
Hi everyone,
Can someone explain me why dsync need read-write access to source box when pulling data (dsync -R backup)?
I am working on migration from Dovecot 1.x with maildir to latest
Dovecot 2.2.15 with mdbox and found that there is no way to do this
from ro filesystem (got "failed: Read-only file system" on access
to /dovecot.index.log).
I am wondering is it bug or feature?

According to a message to this list from Oli Schacher,
http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2011-June/059493.html, all I need to do is copy the deleted
emails to their original folder and dovecot will take care of it:

How to Restore emails
I have a user who accidentially deleted a large number of emails prior to a certain date. He
wants them back. I do have a tarfile backup of these messages. Is there a good way to restore
them? Can I simply restore them to the appropriate Maildir directory and dovecot will just
"figure it out"?
Thanks, --Mark

I would like to use the repeated samples to at each wavelength to look

I have converted some mbox mailboxes to maildir.
Inbox and folders had been cpopied before into a separate directories
"old-home" and old-inbox onto the new server (dovecot 2.0.2. with fix
hg.dovecot.org/dovecot-2.0/rev/14a6e526900d).
dsync -v -u user mirror mbox:/old-homehome/~user:INBOX=/old-inbox/user
It works but it lasts "very long" time.
