Greetings everyone, I'm new to the list as of today. I just installed Dovecot a couple of days ago for the first time, Debian Lenny Dovecot v1.0.15-2.3. So far I'm pretty impressed. I'm using mbox format with Dovecot auto-deciding to place mail in user home directories, which is great. It works very well with the Win32 Thunderbird 3 client over a small basic 100FDX switched net.

Hi, I'm trying to convert users from a sendmail server to a postfix/dovecot server. All works fine but one of the last things is to rescue the messages in /var/mail/<user> on the old server. This seems very straitforward using the convert plugin but with the settings from the wiki, nothing happens when the user logs in. Do I need a private namespace for this as suggested elsewhere

Hi, I seem to be forced to run the auth proces as root because I want to use pam for local users. My gut feeling says that this is Not Good. Is there another way? All, My dovecot install works great except for one error I keep seeing this in my logs. The folder has 7138 messages in it. I am informed the user they needed to reduce the number of messages in the folder and believe this will fix the problem. My question is about where the problem lies. Is the problem related to an internal limit with Dovecot v2.0.15 or with my Debian (3.1.0-1-amd64)?
