A question of imap timeout exit
hello:
I have a question on imap process:
if a client connect to dovecot like foxmail(version 10) , dovecot will start at least 3 imap processes , and these imap processes will online until client logout , if the client not logout ,the imap process will always online. this is similar to the long connection and imap's auto logout timer is not effect in this case.
now I have two

Zimbra benchmarking
Now that I have a working kvm setup, I thought I'd finally try how
Zimbra works. This is mainly some microbenchmarking, so it may not have
much to do with actual performance in real life.
Setup:
- 1GB memory given to kvm (from host's 2GB)
- Intel Core 2 6600 (kvm uses only one CPU)
- CentOS 5
- 15GB qcow2 image on XFS filesystem
- Zimbra 5.0 RC2 RHEL5 x86_64
- Dovecot latest hg,

when logging out like

dovecot: imap-login: Disconnected (no auth attempts)
Morning everyone,
On the 8th of Jan the TLS/SSL certificate I use with Dovecot expired. I
replaced it with a new on the 9th of Jan. I tested this with
Thunderbird and all is well.
This morning people tell me they cannot get their email using their
mobile telephones : K9 Mail
I have reverted the SSL cert back to the old one just in case.
Thunderbird will works.

My Dsync isn't replicating 'EXPUNGE' IMAP command
Hi!
I have two Dovecot-2.2.13 servers with Dsync Replication: server1 and
server2.
When I execute 'EXPUNGE' on server1 side, the messages with FLAG
\Deleted are expunged only on server1. The message is still present in
Server2.
Could someone give me a hint reason for this ?
Thanks in advance!

Imap Logout format
He all,
I'm migrating a big system from Courier to Dovecot and we have a
custom analyzer logger system to Courier logs.
We have got the very similar specs on IMAP LOGIN log, but I can't get
the Logout format.
Courier write like that:
... imapd: LOGOUT, user=luism.martinez, ip=[::ffff:127.0.0.1],
headers=0, body=0, rcvd=131, sent=632, time=0

Hanging IMAP sessions on Mac OS X with dovecot 2.1.10 - worked fine with 2.0.15
Ok, here's a toughie:
Out of a whim (and because of the bad weather) I today decided to upgrade my completely functioning 2.0.15 installation on my Mac OS X 10.6.7 system. NB: It's not a Mac OS X "Server", as sold by Apple - I have compiled my dovecots myself for quite a while.
Anyhow: At first everything appeared to work fine after the upgrade. Up until I created a new user

Logout fails after copy to non existing folder (mutt)
Hi,
I have a Problem with mutt, and copying mails to a new folder.
If I copy to a non existing folder, and try to logout, dovecot doesnt
accept the logout.
I was able to reproduce the problem with the following imap session:

v1.1 status and benchmarks
v1.1 plans have changed a bit. I'll release v1.1.alpha1 soon and hope to
have a stable v1.1 in a month or two. The rest of the features that
didn't make it into v1.1 will go to v1.2. I'll write more about this
when v1.1 alpha is released.
I also did a bit of benchmarking. v1.1's performance improvements are
looking pretty great, it seems to be twice as fast as v1.0.

Problems with dovecot 2.2.13 and monit
Hello,
When I upgraded my servers to dovecot 2.2.13 the monitoring tool monit
started to send out warnings that it couldn't reach my imap/pop3
servers through ssl any more.
The same problem didn't happen on non-ssl-connections.
According to people on the monit list this is likely a dovecot issue:

Logging suggestions?
Any suggestions how user login/logouts should look like in log files? I
was thinking:
(connected to imaps port)
Login: username [IP 1.2.3.4, imaps, compressed]
Logout: username [IP 1.2.3.4, imaps, compressed] [1000/100000 bytes (50%), 00:00:12]
Bytes being upload/download and the 50% meaning compression ratio for
downloaded bytes, probably not worth it for upload. Or if uncompressed,
it'd

how to store flags \Seen into read-only mailbox?
Hi,
I'm trying to use dovecot for storing mailing lists and read-only access for users.
The OS is Solaris, authentication for all readers of these lists are from Ldap through PAM, and one local user "listuser" will receive all mail and store them into it's folders (Maildirs). These maildirs are readable (read-only) for all others and they are shared by setting

gpxelinux feature request
Hi All,
A while back there was some mention that gpxe may acquire the
ability to receive command-line parameters. I'd dearly love if
this could become a reality.
It would be fantastic if we could have a pxelinux menu config
as follows:
KERNEL gpxelinux.0
APPEND config http://someserver.net/gpxe-for-this-box.cfg
This would solve a huge number of our problems since we
don't have the

dbmail benchmarking
I thought I'd try benchmarking with dbmail (v2.2.4) to see how much
slower a SQL backend could actually be. Skip to bottom for the
conclusions.
Originally I ran the tests with the databases being in XFS
filesystem. MySQL's performance was horrible. It went 3-7x faster
with ext3.
MySQL 5.0.30 backend (innodb):
./imaptest clients=1 - append=100 seed=1 secs=30 msgs=1000000 logout=0
