AOV and general formula sintax
As an agronomist, sometimes i need to perform statistical analisys on "weird" field data, like 3 or 4 level split plot design. I've read both the help of the program, some books and manual about S and "Venables/Ripley, Modern Applied Statistics with S", but i still have problems in (i suppose) formulae sintax. I'm trying to perform AOV, as explained in "Random

on gsub (simple, but not to me!) sintax
Dear R users, my problem today deals with my ignorance on regular expressions. a matter I recently discovered. Consider the following foo <- c("V_7_101110_V", "V_7_101110_V", "V_9_101110_V", "V_9_101110_V", "V_9_s101110_V", "V_9_101110_V", "V_9_101110_V", "V_11_101110_V", "V_11_101110_V",

Alternative to extended recode sintax?
Dear R-users, I have a factor variable within my data frame which I derive week after week from a POSIXct variable using the cut(var,"weeks") command I have found in the chron package. The levels() command gives me: [1] "2009-03-30 00:00:00" "2009-04-06 00:00:00" "2009-04-13 00:00:00" "2009-04-20 00:00:00" "2009-04-27 00:00:00"

adddriver rpc command generates segmentation fault
Hi, I'm trying to add a printer driver to samba 2.2.7, part of the RedHat 9 distro. I have all the associated files under print$/W32X86 (I verified that they were where I thought they were from samba's POV by looking via smbclient). Below is the output from a getdriver command issued to a W2K PDC to get the names of all the required files for the particular printer: [Windows NT x86]

Problems with the IMAP proxy after upgrading from dovecot 1.1.16 to 1.211
We have frequent timeout problems after upgrading our imap servers from dovecot 1.1.16 to dovecot 1.2.11. One server acts as proxy only, and the other one is the "real" imap server". The credentials for the proxy service are stored in a remote MYSQL database. There were no trouble with dovecot 1.1.16. But now, with the most recent version, we get frequent login failures. It

Vis5D interface package
Greetings, Summary: Has anyone else started a package (or have code) with the capability to write Vis5D-readable netCDF files containing irregularly-spaced data? I've recently put together what might be the beginnings of a (GPL'ed) R interface package to the Vis5D volumetric visualization program (http://vis5d.sourceforge.net). Vis5D is commonly used in the atmospheric science and

very frequent disconnections
I've installed dovecot 1:1.1.11-0ubuntu4.1 on my jaunty system. Access from the same host works well, but when I access remotely (from various MUAs and networks) I get *very* frequent disconnects. Authentication is fine, and I can usually open a mail folder, but larger operations such as copying 20 messages into an imap folder always get disconnected. I can reconnect, but I often get

[OT] correspondence analysis w/ non-mutually-exclusive ca tegories
Andy, Take a look at Greenacre, Theory and Applications of Correspondence Analysis. He has many example of dealing with all sorts of data. Basically, the technique is relevant for 2-way tables -- MCA is an extenstion. It is not clear in your example whether CA is really appropriate -- you want to make an observation (if at all possible) fall in one cell, treating the others layers as

GUI bug (PR#1711)
Full_Name: Socrates Alikhanidi Version: 1.5.1 OS: Windows 2000 Submission from: (NULL) (133.15.3.28) During resizing of 'R Console' windows the fatal error of forbidden memory access appears. To reproduce that with a guaranty, resize windows by mouse with small steps. Probably the faster computer is, the earlier that event appears. I have PIV 1.8 GHz. Waiting time was near 1 second.
