NTLM authentication with Outlook 2010
All, I have a Ubuntu 12.04.2 box running Dovecot 2.0.19. I have it configured for our active directory. WBinfo and ntlm_auth work great. I am trying to get sso to work with ntlm. Gssapi with thunderbird works like it should. I just cant get ntlm with outlook 2010 to work for sso. I get prompted for my password each time I open outlook. I have attached my config for dovecot. Any help would

Permission denied
After several trouble free months and without any obvious reason our server just stopped working. I cannot even re-start it: [root at dsmail /]# service dovecot start Starting Dovecot Imap: Can't open log file /var/log/dovecot.log: Permission denied If I create those manually (touch /var/log/dovecot.log, .../dovecot_info.log, .. dovecot_debug.log) service starts, but reports an error in

Also it seems we lack support for NTLMv2. If you want to use NTLM you need to permit use of NTLM(v1), which is usually not enabled by default. Looking for NTLM config example
Now that I am running Thunderbird on Linux and away from Windows/Outlook, I'd like to take another run at setting up NTLM authentication from Thunderbird to my Samba4 AC/DC. With the help of the samba maillist folks I was able to set up NTLM authentication for domain user login. I should be able to do the same for email! But, I need help. I went to

Need to authenticate Outlook and NTLM
I've posted questions on this before, but now I really, really need a solution. Using Dovecot 2.2.33.2 We've been using Dovecot as IMAP server for several years on a Linux host which is also the Active Directory / Domain Controller. We have both Thunderbird and Outlook clients. The Thunderbird clients authenticate w/o problem with AD credentials using Kerberos/GSSAPI. I've never

It should work. Although if you are using linux server you might want to use gssapi instead. > On June 25, 2016 at 7:43 PM Mark Foley <mfoley at ohprs.org> wrote: > > > I've asked this several times over the past year with essentially zero responses. (no subject)
Hi, I'd like to use Global ACLs to limit user's access to individual folders (e.g. read only). The dovecot-acl file limiting my user "test": user=test lr works fine when I put it into the user's mailbox /home/vmail/test/Maildir/.Records but gets ignored in /etc/dovecot/acls/Records Bellow is my dovecot -n output: # 2.0.0: /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf # OS: Linux

Need to authenticate Outlook and NTLM
More on this ... I short-sheeted ntlm_auth to see what was being passed to it. It is getting as arg1: --helper-protocol=squid-2.5-ntlmssp I tried running ntlm_auth at the command line as: ntlm_auth --username=user --password=password --helper-protocol=squid-2.5-ntlmssp It did nothing, just hung there. The ntlm_auth man page says: --helper-protocol=PROTO Operate as a stdio-based helper.

Can passdb be bypassed for non-plaintext authentication mechanisms
I am using Active directory authentication via gssapi for most users. In dovecot.conf I have: auth_mechanisms = plain login gssapi auth_use_winbind = yes I also have passdb { driver = shadow } userdb { driver = passwd } for those few users who are NOT AD users. Even though the AD users do not exist in /etc/passwd or /etc/shadow, Dovecot ALWAYS first looks them up in shadow, which ALWAYS

NTLM authentication with dovecot.
Hi!, I'm trying to use single sign on from Windows. Install dovecot on CentOS 6. The host name is prueba-mail. I'm using version 2.0.9 because the latest 64-bit gives errors. But first I wanted to test whether user validation works with telnet. When I try to try "telnet prueba-mail imap" and try to "a1 LOGIN MyUsername MyPassword", I get the following error:prueba-mail

Settings: Dovecot + NTLM + Single Sing On + Windows + Outlook or Thunderbird.
I am following the steps listed in: http://wiki.dovecot.org/HowTo/ActiveDirectoryNtlm My goal is to have single sign-on for Microsoft Outlook applications. I working and I have some doubts since I never set up an imap server, hope I can help :). The version that I have installed is devecot 2.0.9. How to enable COPY and APPEND commands separately
I'd like to allow a user to move messages between his folders on Dovecot IMAP account, but prevent move/copy from different accounts (Exchange in particular). Outlook uses "xx UID COPY 1 folder" and then "xx UID STORE 1 +FLAGS (\Deleted \Seen)" for internal moves and "xx APPEND folder" for external ones. I tried to achieve this with ACL, but i (insert) seems to

Proprietary mail storage.
I have a large existing read-only collection of mails packaged in individual zip files as <rfc822 file>+<some additional info>. Is it possible (and how difficult) to create a proprietary plugin (like gzip) which will open a zip file, extract mail and pass it back to Dovecot? Where do I start? If plugin is not the right approach, what is? Another question is how will this affect Dovecot

iPhone no longer authenticating
I've switched a user to being an active directory user. That user's email client authorizes just fine with dovecot using GSSAPI. However, now his iPhone won't authorize. In the dovecot log file I get: Dec 01 14:27:28 auth: Debug: client in: AUTH 1 PLAIN service=imap secured session=q4n3W0xfggBiZj9s lip=98.102.63.107 rip=98.102.63.108 lport=993

Passdb + single sing on + NTLM + Thunderbird.
Hi!, I want to use single sign on from Windows with Thunderbird or Outlook using NTLM. Which should be placed in the configuration file for passdb?. Currently I have: passdb { driver = pam } But it generates the following error when trying to check mail: dovecot: auth: pam (pepe, 190 108 101 120): unknown user If I remove imap passdb just does not work and I add at the end of this mail the

How to "Windows Authenticate"
I am running Dovecot 2.2.15 on Linux Slackware 14.1 and Samba 4.1.17 as the Active Directory/Domain Controller on the same host as Dovecot. Sendmail/procmail delivers mail to users' $HOME/Maildir. MS Outlook/IMAP is the client MTU used to connect with Dovecot to read mail on the Users' WIN7 workstations. I believe I have confirmed that MS Outlook will either ... 1) send the userid and

Virtual users - what is better Maildir or mbox?
Hi, I'm trying to configure a server to use SAMBA and Winbind to authenticate to Active Directory.... I managed to get this portion up and running even the Dovecot portion. For reference something similar to this guide: http://www.whitneytechnologies.com/?p=119 However PAM is slightly different: # cat /etc/pam.d/dovecot auth sufficient pam_krb5.so no_user_check validate account

NTLM authentication mechanism with Postfix
I'm working on getting authentication for Postfix smtpd clients working with Dovecot. I've got both plain text and GSSAPI mechanisms working. Winbind also works for shell access and the command line test work fine. If I can get NTLM authentication working I can use Postfix as a drop in replacement for a MS MTA I want get rid of. I'm hoping the community might be able to offer some
