Errors starting Dovecot
Hi, I'm new to Dovecot. I'm trying to start Dovecot(2.0.9) but I'm getting an error. I think the error is because I'm doing a tutorial for an old version of Devcot(1.x.x). What I get is the following: [code] [root at mailserver dovecot]# service dovecot start Starting Dovecot Imap: doveconf: Warning: NOTE: You can get a new clean config file with: doveconf -n >

Upgrade to v2.0 conf file fails
Hi, I am trying to use the command: doveconf -n -c dovecot-1.conf > dovecot-2.conf to upgrade my dovecot.conf file, but it fails (see below). Judging from the message that vsz_limit is the new setting for login_process_size, I have retried using login_process_size=256 rather than login_process_size=64 (which was the initial value), but the error persists. Please advise. Thanks, Nick

Don't Know Where Emails Are Or What's Happening
Hi; I'm new to Dovecot and Postfix. I'm trying to enable these with MySQL support and postfixadmin. I've got all those services up and running (finally!); however, I can't figure out if the emails are being received and/or stored. I'm pretty sure Postfix is receiving them because I dealt with certain errors and they're now gone. Here's some data: Dovecot ver. 0.91

Error: file_dotlock_create failed: Permission denied
Hi, I have a Fedora 14 x86_64 computer. I run dovecot 2.0.12 on it, only to keep a local imap copy of all my email, in maildir format. A couple days ago the hard disk broke, so I bought a new one, and reinstalled Fedora 14 x86_64 with all the updates. Then I copied all the maildirs from a backup to the new drive. But I can't access email now. No matter how I change sticky bits or ownership

Dovecot on FreeBSD 4.9 - "Invalid Password Field"
Hi, I am attempting to get dovecot up and running on FreeBSD 4.9..... Tried with the default config file and my own one (below) but when trying to login I get the following: Feb 10 17:59:53 cobain dovecot-auth: passwd(jamie): invalid password field '*' It seems like it is trying to read straight from /etc/passwd? I thought it called getpw(). Is this a common error and could anyone shed

Subscription File
I had a use lose 20 folders on their mail account. I was able to pull them back from a restore and dumped them all back on the server in her Maildir. The problem is she doesn't see them on her Thunderbird or Outlook client. I checked to make sure I put them back into the correct directory and I did as well as verify permissions aren't weird. I then noticed a file called

Dear all, my /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf [0] that is shipped with the Linux distro (Ubuntu 18.04, dovecot 2.3.10) has a namespace section: namespace inbox { ... mailbox Sent { ... } ... } I need to remove this whole section from the configuration, but I need to do this in a file such as /etc/dovecot/conf.d/99-custom.conf because I want this modification to be stable against

Configure Dovecot For IMAP Only?
I've install Dovecot 2.0.11-1 on my Linux server and all the guides and tutorials I've found on Google don't work since I'm running 2.x and it seems most guides were done with 1.x. I've opened up the configuration file /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf & from what I can see, this is all I could come up with: protocols = imap listen = * base_dir = /var/run/dovecot login_greeting =
