Equivalent command or file
List, is there an equivalent on Linux as "watch" under FreeBSD, as well as the "snp" or snoop device that permits one to watch what is going on in another terminal? Yes there are privacy issues here, but in a home system with a couple of folks logged in trying to help with compiling stuff, it'd be nice to see what and how they are doing it. Thanks... -- Snowman

Proposal for CIRCT incubator project
Renato, I'm happy to kibitz on the build problems. Cmake seems to be working well at this point for us, but it took quite a bit to get there and there are some pitfalls. I'm aware of some namespace issues in mlir, but haven't gotten around to dealing with them. Access to R from a remote location
Currently, our organization grants some employees remote access to SAS and other software through a secure Citrix-based network server. We would like to install R on a dedicated network server and enable remote access through Citrix. Is this possible? If so, what additional software would we need? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Erick Edwards

An offer: R packages in Gentoo Land?
Greetings. I love R, we run Gentoo. I want to maintain R packages in the same methods I use for the rest of them; in Gentoo this is in "the portage tree", or in "a portage overlay". I am working towards something I consider suitable for production release, and wanted to ask if there are conventional blessings which I ought to ask of the R-devel folks; How does this usually

How to size an email server to handle 5 million emails per day
I have no idea as to how to size an email server. I was approached by a customer that wanted a single server with RAID 1 disks to handle about 5 million emails a day. In general terms, what parameters should I take into account to size the hardware specs when the average email is about 10kb, the smalles email is 2kb and the largest email is about 5meg (with attachment) thanks, --

Solution for 12 to 16 FXO to asterisk connection
Hi, today a customer asked how to use asterisk with 12 to 16 FXO ports. I can use a channel bank with 16 FXO ports and connect the channel bank with a T1 cable to a T1 card in the Asterisk Server. Asterisk will then send the calls to the Voip provider over the internet. However a 16 fxo port channel bank is about USD 1500 + a t1 card USD 500 + a USD 1000 computer = 3 thousand us dollars + my

web based vacation frontend
Hi, One customer has Centos 5 installed. He wants to have a web based frontend to the vacation program because he is in charge to enable the vacation msg for all the users in leave. I tried webmin but the webmin vacation module points to a nonexistant link. And the usermin module is very old and requires the user to do it by themselves. Suggestions? --

OT: 4 dual cores agains 2 quad cores
Hi people, Do you have pointers to web documents that help me make comparisons between buying a server with two quad core 2.33 ghz or buying a 4 dual core 2ghz server? I am trying to answer a question of performance. It is not important the redundancy/failover or the price of the server. Just the performance. obviously all the hardware specs are the same, the question is the CPU. --
