ctdb vacuum timeouts and record locks
Hi List,
I set up a ctdb cluster a couple months back. Things seemed pretty
solid for the first 2-3 weeks, but then I started getting reports of
people not being able to access files, or some times directories. It
has taken me a while to figure some stuff out, but it seems the common
denominator to this happening is vacuuming timeouts for locking.tdb in
the ctdb log, which might go on

DOM0 Hang on a large box....
Hi,
I''m looking at a system hang on a large box: 160 cpus, 2TB. Dom0 is
booted with 160 vcpus (don''t ask me why :)), and an HVM guest is started
with over 1.5T RAM and 128 vcpus. The system hangs without much activity
after couple hours. Xen 4.0.2 and 2.6.32 based 64bit dom0.
During hang I discovered:
Most of dom0 vcpus are in double_lock_balance spinning on one of the locks:

ctdb vacuum timeouts and record locks
Hi,
This occurred again this morning, when the user reported the problem, I
found in the ctdb logs that vacuuming has been going on since last
night. The need to fix it was urgent (when isn't it?) so I didn't have
time to poke around for clues, but immediately restarted the lxc
container. But this time it wouldn't restart, which I had time to trace
to a hung smbd process, and

Dovecot 2.2.1 LDA and sieve (lack of) errors
Hello again, all. Of course after posting yesterday that all was well
with my setup, turns out all is not well. The problem I'm having is with
dovecot-lda functioning and making deliveries to my mailbox, but the
sieve scripts don't seem to have any effect. Attempts at logging what
is/isn't happening have been total failures.
Managesieve seems to work fine, port 4190 is open on the

dovecot config for 1500 simultaneous connection
christian
the servers i currently own are dell servers. The servers i plan to buy are Dell R530, 2U rack servers with 8 x 3.5 inch drives, with 64 gb ram each, Hardware raid. I am thinking of 2 X 300 gb ssds raid1 and 6 x 2 tb drives in raid10 for data. I do not have any experience in setting up drdb (that would be my next step) ... primarily using standalone servers with hardware level

LOCKD errors
Running the nightly from two days ago.
The Dovecot log shows no errors, but I keep getting login errors for a
few users.
top shows:

And a ps aux shows that these processes have been open for hours. If I

imap + unmounted home disk
dovecot 0.99 still (RHEL4), I'm sorry to say.
The config is for mbox's to live on the user's home disk.
If the user tries to make an imap connection when
his home disk is unmounted, various permission denied
messages are logged, as expected, but then the imap
process seems to hang around instead of aborting.
The result is that eventually the imap process
limit is reached, and even

Bandwidth requirements for 1, 000, 000 minutes a month
This may expose my ignorance, but here goes :)
I've been asked to figure out how much bandwidth would be needed to handle
1,000,000 minutes a month.
Here's the environment:
) All calls are received via SIP.
) All calls use the ulaw codec.
) Calls average 10 minutes in duration.
) The "busiest" hour will account for 10% of the daily total.
This is how I'm figuring

union_lookup panic ...
G'day ...
Altho it is rare, we are getting union_lookup panics on our server(s)
... as most on this list already know, we make heavy use of unionfs to
share between jails, and I already know that this is the "kernel side"
cause of the problem ... but ...
From what I can tell, though, the "trigger" for the panic is pkg_delete
... if I build a jail'd environment,

iSCSI and disk timeouts
Hi,
I'm having a problem where one of the VM's I'm running appears to be
hanging. I think what might be happening is that the disk is timing out
and being mounted read-only (or something like that). The VM image is
on an iSCSI volume.
What timeouts are set for iSCSI on the node? I seem to recall it being
either 30 seconds or 2 minutes but I haven't been able to confirm.
