mailbox utilities
Hello,
Are there any utilities that will spit out statistics about some
mailboxes I have on my server? For example, how many messages are in
each mailbox? They appear to be in mbox format (default?).
Thanks!

moving mail from private inbox to public folder kills the latter
Hi
I've ran into something rather nasty: if a user moves a mail from its
inbox to a public folder, the folder becomes inaccessible for others,
because the moved file will have the the permission 600 instead of 777
(or 666) which the rest of the emails have in the folder.
How can I change this behavior so when he moves the mail it
automatically becomes world-readable? Also why one mail

Solaris NFS woes
I am using dovecot 1.0.rc15 (a similar problem occurred in rc10) on
Solaris 9 (sparc). When working with a user who's home dir is on a
local disk everything seems fine. But when that home is on an
NFS-mounted disk things are very badly awry.
Both the indices and the subscriptions file are being destroyed and
what is left behind are files with names of the form .nfs72C034 etc.
These files are

IMAP connection timeout value?
So we're having some ISP issues lately, meaning we have to reboot our cable
modem like 2-3 times a day. An unfortunate side-effect I've found is, once
the users max out their connection limit (which I've set to 10, and many
people do), if we reboot the cable modem, they can't log in cause their
connections get 'stuck' until I `doveadm kick` them, or wait for the
connections

rjs woes, any hints?
I''ve pared my rjs experiment down to what seems a bare minimum. When I click
on my link_to_remote, the rjs executes, returns the correct javascript to
the browser, but it doesn''t update the div I''ve specified. What appears to
be coming back from the controller is:
Element.update("my_form", "hello, rjs");
I''m tearing my hair out.

Newbie woes with par:mar
I have a simple barchart with horizontal bars and horizontal tick labels,
produced with
barplot(x, horiz = T, names.arg = c, las = 1)
The labels are longish strings, truncated on the plot. I wish to leave more
space for the left margin, and experiment with mar parameter,
barplot(x, horiz = T, names.arg = c, las = 1, mar = c(5, 15, 4, 2))
trying various values for the second vector element, but

Removal of
ans[nas] <- NA
from the code of function 'ifelse' in R is not committed (yet). Why?

ifelse() woes ... can we agree on a ifelse2() ?
Related to the length of 'ifelse' result, I want to say that "example of different return modes" in ?ifelse led me to perceive a wrong thing in the past.
## example of different return modes:
yes <- 1:3
no <- pi^(0:3)
typeof(ifelse(NA, yes, no)) # logical
typeof(ifelse(TRUE, yes, no)) # integer
typeof(ifelse(FALSE, yes, no)) # double

partition woes (mapper/isw_bdihgcgahe_Volume0p2)
Hi,
I found 2 identical drives lying around and put them into a system.
When booting from a Centos 5.x installer, and when being presented
with the formatting option (disk druid), it says I have 1 volume of;
mamapper/isw_bdihgcgahe_Volume0p2
I can't seem to get rid of it. I have 2 physical disks but disk druid
is seeing 1 volume thats the same size as one of the 2 identical drives.

PXE boot woes
Hello list,
I need to load windows automatically.
I have Argon Technologies CMS (Client Management Systems).
http://argontechnology.com
I have always had problems with this product because it uses the old MS DOS
NET Client 3.0 with a LAN manager stack to copy the files from a Microsoft
share.
What I need is a Linux boot floppy that will remove partition 1 and
re-create it then format as fat

general cups & access permissions woes
Hello all,
I have been trying set up a linux box as a print server for our mixed
windows network. It has samba working - everybody can see it & a shared
directory. I installed cups & that too seems to be fine - printing test
pages from the web interface works perfectly. But i can't get them to talk.
I think this is mostly as i can't find a decent howto & so am poking

Authentication woes, passwd standard install
I have two users working fine. Tried to add a third and it refuses to accept
log on details.
I've stripped everything back to default config, and still only the first
two users are accepted! Can't understand it and it's driving me crazy. I've
deleted and created the user a thousand times, and opened the config up as
wide as possible. I'm obviously doing something stupid but
