Proper Database Design For A Newbie
Hi all,
I am starting out learning Ruby on Rails (coming from a PHP background)
and I have a question about proper database design.
Let me give you a quick example of what I want to do:
Database:

`id` int(11) NOT NULL auto_increment,
`login` varchar(40) default NULL,
`email` varchar(100) default NULL,
`crypted_password` varchar(40) default NULL,

OO model style: inheritance

I am totally new to rails and I am trying to start a
tiny project to get familiar with rails. But I already
got my first problem and I would be happy if somebody
could point me in the best and cleanest direction.
I am trying to develop a small gallery app. Since I
would like to add more features in future I am trying
to design a clean OO architecture of my models:

gem rails 1.1.0.200411231446 flags has_many error
Hi
I updated gem rails today and saw that rails had an update.
With the new edition, I get a warning statement printed
that was not in the two earlier versions.
(No message with either:
require_gem ''activerecord'', "= 1.0.0"
require_gem ''activerecord'', "= 1.0.0.20041114"
)
The code still works, but the warning makes no sense.

[LLVMdev] Buildbot skipping commits?
It's a bug in buildbot. Longer (than 1024, I guess) commit message
might let buildbot commits ignored.
When buildbot is configured with mysql, such a check is done.
FYI, my buildbot tweaks longer commit log, for example;
http://bb.pgr.jp/changes/24995
(Snipping is done not in the buildmaster, but on the commit feeder)
That said, I wish every guys would not be made afraid of commit message...

acts_as_list with scope : position update problem?
Hello,
I''ve tried to set up a class with acts_as_list with a scope argument
that restricts a list to records with the same foreign key.
For example :
database :
CREATE TABLE `families` (
`id` int(11) NOT NULL auto_increment,
`name` varchar(255) NOT NULL default '''',
PRIMARY KEY (`id`)
) ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8 AUTO_INCREMENT=3 ;

New cdr_mysql.c
Hi.
here is a brand new cdr_mysql .
Is based on the previous one, but with lots of changes, so I include
here the whole file, not a patch.
What I've changed:
added new fields, in order to reflect cdr csv :
* call start time
* call answer time
* call end time
* call unique id
Changed the table structure to reflect cdr.h lengths.
Added some (a lot?) sanity checks, to be sure to insert
