Using binary versions of release candidates...
I downloaded a binary build of release candidate 2, and it was simply a bare directory tree with no README files or other directions. Does one simply plop this in /usr/local or is there more to it? (I'm on OS X.) -- Perry E. Metzger perry at piermont.com

problems with sieve under 2.0...
I'm experimenting with a 2.0 setup, using the sieve plugin for 2.0 from mercurial. Without sieve, everything seems to work fine. Once I put in a .dovecot.sieve file, though, nothing gets delivered, with the only hint of what's going wrong being this mess in syslog: Jul 7 13:18:00 bellman dovecot: lda(perry): Panic: file index-transaction.c: line 70 (index_transaction_init): assertion

Email list just for front end developers?
Howdy! I've noticed that requests for help by people like me who are developing front ends are often lost in the noise in the llvm-dev list. Although LLVM is a wonderful and very productive framework, I've found that getting help on my front end has been very difficult, and learning necessary detail about the APIs and the like is often very, very challenging. Perhaps it would be good to

Userdb userdb_mail=, error Mailbox list driver maildir++: maildir_name not supported by this driver
With this setting, all folders are empty, I guess understandable, because the mdbox has its own indexes stored locally with it. Does not explain though why inbox is empty. [@ dovecot]# cat special-userdb test:x:8267:231:Account with special settings for dovecot:/home/popusers/test:/bin/false:userdb_mail=mdbox:~/mdbox:INBOX=/ var/spool/mail/%u:INDEX=/var/dovecot/%u/index With this setting

QoS What to do?
Searching the archives there has been some discussion about the need for QOS routing on a mixed voice data broadband like ADSL. Has anyone run * on a production system with voice and data. Can anyone share what has to be done to secure the voice and throttle back the data? If a linux router is need can that run on the * box to reduce cost? All help is gratefully received, so I can plan a

Yes, I have still inbox mbox format because I have sendmail delivering there. Userdb userdb_mail=, error Mailbox list driver maildir++: maildir_name not supported by this driver
I have this default configuration [0], when use the userdb_mail to point to the mdbox location, the inbox subfolders show differently in a firebird client. So I decided to copy the whole default mail_location into the userdb_mail configuration [2]. But then I get errors [3]. Should I change the namespace configuration here, how? My default namespaces are inbox and 4archives [0] [@ ]#

Could not override "mail_location" with "userdb_mail" statment in "/etc/passwd"
Hi, ** Using Dovecot 2.2.22 and Postfix 3.1.0 ** I plan to migrate all accounts on my server from mbox to maildir storage but before i want to make some tests on dedicated accounts. To do so i want to overide the general "mail_location" ( mail_location = mbox:~/mail:INBOX=/var/mail/%u ) with "maildir:~/Maildir" only for some test accounts. To do so i modified my

What is "splat" in BUILD_VECTOR?
Hi All, First of all, I am not native English speaker. While reading BUILD_VECTOR related code, for example, PPCTargetLowering::LowerBUILD_VECTOR, I see "splat" here and there. Could someone explain what it is (does splat mean the same thing across the whole code base)? Besides, from my English dictionary, I don't know why we call such thing as "splat"... :p Regards,

Fwd: Re: Asterisk on FreeBSD
Your log file almost looks like a bug in Asterisk doesn't it? Why call poll() with a zero timeout while passing only one FD? and then why do the read when there is no data? Read the man pages for all the system calls Take a look at the source chan_sip.c /* Wait for sched or io */ res = ast_sched_wait(sched); if ((res < 0) || (res > 1000))

trying to combine static userdb with LDAP passdb with per-user userdb_mail and userdb_home
Hello, dovecot users. I'm trying to cope with following problem I have single computer which will be going to be final destination for several virtual domains. Domains are stored in LDAP catalog. Dovecot will be working together with Postfix MTA running on same computer. I'm a bit confused how to achieve following thing: I want Postfix to use Dovecot LMTP server for mail delivery. All
