Reccomended user? Root or "normal"?
Is there any problem to run icecast as a normal user? I know that if run along with liveice, I'll have to setup /dev/dsp to that user, but what about TCP/IP ports? Will it be able to run normally or I have to run it as root? Will this help in the stability of the system? This would allow a crash to only crash the user's memory space and not the system's space. Any suggestion is

ntpdate odd behavior
I noticed this morning that my ntp time was not correct on machines. So I manually ran "ntpdate time.apple.com" on my clients, I got 7 May 08:46:43 ntpdate[10550]: no server suitable for synchronization found then I ran "ntpdate -d time.apple.com" and it worked . filter offset: -163.446 -163.446 -163.446 -163.447 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 delay 0.20570,

Ubuntu 16.04 dovecot-core requires deprecated ntpdate
I'm building a new Ubuntu 16.04 machine, including Dovecot. When I select the dovecot-core package in Synaptic, it also wants to install ntpdate. Problem: ntpdate has been replaced in Ubuntu with timedatectl. In fact, if ntpdate exists on the machine, ntpd will not work properly. See: https://help.ubuntu.com/lts/serverguide/NTP.html See:

ntpdate issues?
Hi, I''m trying to run ntpdate from domain zero and getting weird results. This used to work (prior to using xen). Is this related to xen at all or an entirely unrelated issue? List of "digipeaters" (like live365) needed (aka BW providers).
I need a "complete" list of "reliable" services for repeating the signal of a station to the listeners (live radio). The situation is that a station will be doing live radio and has a little DSL connection and external bandwith will be required. I don't mind if it costs much or it is cheap, I now just want to join information to say my customer: You have all this coices,

Serial port not working anymore on Garmin Mapsource
I have Garmin Mapsource v8 working 100% with Wine and Linux kernel 2.6.16. Transfer from/to the GPS connected to a USB Serial converter on /dev/ttyUSB0 works 100% also. But then, I try with kernel 2.6.18 and 2.6.19 and Mapsource doesn't find the GPS. It's not a Linux issue as I can access the GPS with minicom. Device file permisions are OK. Anyone has and idea of what can be happening

Hints stopped working suddently
Hello, I've had Asterisk and Polycom phones work perfectly with hints for the last 6 months. Suddently, I realize they've stopped working in the last few days. But when I do dial using one of the SIP registrations, I don't see those
