How do you resize the screen to fit everything in it? I cant tell what the resolution is set at but would like to change it. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: <http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos/attachments/20060406/7c8303d8/attachment-0001.html>

Switching screen resolution on the fly
Is there any way other than CTL ALT + and CTL ALT - to set and or change the resolution of the X server when I want to. Is there a way to so take me to "1920x1080" mode and then later take me to "1366x768" mode. With xvidtune I see the -next and -prev options but I was hoping for jumping to specific modes. I so realize I can also edit out unwanted modes in the xorg.conf but

Ctrl Alt +/-
I guess my CentOS is screwed up because that function doesn't work. Only way to resize it was to go into the menu areas and set it there. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Dual video card, 1 monitor each (ref dual head) CentoS4.6 xorg does only 1 head
I need to start running a dual head on one of my machines. Eventual target is CentOS 5.x. Decided to test first on my 4.6 setup (eventually it will achieve 5.x). Both machines are fully up to date. The test machine is 4.6, 2 radeon video cards. Searched the web, CentOS site, even bugzilla. This bugzilla entry from a 4.2 system), http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=1875 had only a WFM response.

Thanks
Thanks for the help guys. To resize my screen I had to go through the GUI part and change it but unlike Microsoft it makes me reboot in order for it to take affect which sucks. The Ctrl Alt +/- does not work. As for adding a printer someone finally gave me the link to the correct document which showed how to do it. I received a link where you can download the CentOS manual in PDF format:

additional X11 issues with CentOS 6.7
OK, I need to start with a basic "dumb" question. What named xorg version does my package version 1.15 correspond to? X11R7.? Currently, I'm having some bad flicker problems I didn't experience previously. I have an old old radeon graphics card and note that the ati driver was updated with 6.7. This loads for X before the radeon module. I didn't find any release notes

CentOS 7 + GUI as KVM guest: fix screen resolution
Hi, I'd like to run CentOS 7 in a KVM guest (host is my Slackware64 14.1 workstation). The main purpose of this installation will be to build custom RPM packages. I've made a few tests, and everything works more or less as expected. I'd like to resolve a small problem that's nagging me though. When I install a GUI, I usually start by installing a minimal system, then I add some

New X crappy for older stuff?
While burning in a new desktop Epox KT-880 workstation, I'm running on my old K6-III at 360MHz. Before new X updates (put everything in today, kernel, elfutils, ntpd - Selinux issues? - xorg, ...) with my PCI ATI 7000 (Radeon) on a 19" Samsung 950b @ 1024x768 (one of 5 different resolutions I commonly use), I could scroll smoothly at reasonable rates. With the new stuff I get severe

Screen resolution changing not working (Debian Squeeze)
I have been playing an old game, "Knights and Merchants - The Peasants Rebellion" for a long time on wine, keeping track of latest wine beta releases. Yesterday I found it not working. The screen goes black (as usual, as there is some resolution changing done and the game will come up full screen), but then it just goes back to the initial screen; There is hardly any output: Code:

Scale "up" low resolution programs to fit screen?
Some old apps and games are of pretty low resolution by today's standards, i.e. 640x480. If I run such a program the text and interface are often very very small because of it. Therefore, is there a way to have Wine scale up, for example, a 640x480 virtual desktop to fit my high resolution display? In other words, the program will fill the screen, albeit looking more pixellated.

Got no login screen with the new 5.6 kernel
I did the 5.6 update yesterday. When I started the machine today, I did not get a login screen -- it was just a blank screen with no cursor or anything. I shut down, restarted and when grub came up selected the previous kernel. The system came up as usual, presented a login screen, and is working OK. There is apparently something buggy related to the new kernel (2.6.18-238.5.1.el5). Stan
