Suppressing DOMAIN on AD-DC Machine
Hello,
Here's my setup:
* Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
* Samba 4.7.6
* Active Directory (provided by Samba)
* Postfix 3.3.0
* Mailutils 3.4
On this machine, my AD usernames are showing in the format
DOMAIN\username
All the machines in the AD have a directive in their /etc/samba/smb.conf
file
winbind use default domain = yes
however this doesn't work on this machine acting as the AD-DC, and looking

thunderbird and subscriptions with sieve
Hi All,
I'm a newbie trying to move mail out of my ISP onto a ubuntu (lucid) dovecot
1.2.9 server.
Is there any way to automatically add folders created by sieve
(GNU Mailutils 2.1) to the subscriptions file for a user?
I'm currently testing spam, and if sieve created the folder with the first
message, the thunderbird user does not see the new folder.
Even more interesting, if the user

Use multiple mbox locations
Hello,
With GNU mailutils on Debian 9, we receive mails in /var/mail/<username>
but when we read mails with the "mail" command, they are moved in a file
~/mbox: "Saved 1 message in /home/<username>/mbox".
I use Roundcube webmail with Dovecot but if I also use use the "mail"
command to read emails, Roundcube will not display old messages anymore
since they

Bug#295560: logcheck: Please include filename when reporting "invalid regular expression"
Package: logcheck
Version: 1.2.34
Severity: wishlist
I have a couple of home-made logcheck ignore files, and happened to
have one unescaped (and unmatched) `(' in one of the filter
lines. Because of this, cron sent a mail with the body "grep: Invalid
regular expression" - the subject is the command in the "2 * * * *"
line in /etc/cron.d/logcheck, of course.
It would be

imap client library.
Dear Dovecot developers,
I have several question about imap client:
- Is there any difference if we want to create imap client
that connect to Imap server with user mail format
Mailbox or Maildir?
Dovecot support both of them, are we need to create
different imap client to support both of them?
- Does anyone have imap client library other than
UW's c-client?
thanks for your

LDAP + mail_location: Get "%d" from customfield
hi,
my mail_location looks like:
mail_location = maildir:/imap/spool/%d/%1n/%n:INDEX=/imap/spool/%
d/indexes/%1n/%n
for example:
/imap/spool/domain.foo/a/anton/new
The problem is, that the user log in with only the username and no
domainpart. So, Dovecot looks into:
/imap/spool/a/anton/new
what isn't correct. We created an LDAP entry in which domain the user is
and searching for a way,

As I've said before...
Don't say I didn't warn you:
http://digitaldaily.allthingsd.com/20100520/googles-royalty-free-webm-video-may-not-be-royalty-free-for-long
Don't get me wrong, I'll be as ecstatic as any of you to see Theora
and VP8 succeed, I just see the patent system as far more insidious
than I think many of you do.

Resolv.conf being overwritten
I am trying to add 127.0.0.1 to my resolv.conf. I added it through the
system-config-network but if I reboot, its gone. I do not have the caching
nameserver package installed. My ISP's nameservers are there. It must have
something to do with DHCP.
Also, in the network config GUI, should I select the IPv6 option for either
or both network cards?
TIA

Request a way for passing simple info to a package installation
I need to install postfix on a a debian system with puppet.
Unfortunately there are a lot of prompts. One way to deal with this
is, is: http://projects.puppetlabs.com/projects/1/wiki/Debian_Preseed_Patterns.
Another way (apparently) is to give an answerfile in the package
resource declaration. (I have no idea how to do this)
e.g.:
echo postfix postfix/main_mailer_type select No

Suppressing DOMAIN on AD-DC Machine
Hello,
Thanks Andrew, and to everyone else who made suggestions.
I can understand the rationale behind not enabling default domain on the
AD-DC, or running the AD-DC or postfix in a separate VM, but it makes a
system more complex to deploy and maintain, particularly in small business
environments.
In this situation, I've decided to use postfix address rewrites and
hardlinks between mailbox

Cyrus Virtual Domains: Domain migration from Cyrus
hi,
we want to migrate from Cyrus 2.x to Dovecot 1.x (!). We use the virtual
domain feature from Cyrus for a better disk partitioning:
/var/imap/domain.a/user/foo ..
/var/imap/domain.b/user/foo ..
/var/imap/domain.c/user/foo ..
In a exported skiplist DB, it shows like:
=================
domain.a!user.foobar 0 int foobar at domain.a lrswipcda postmaster at domain.a
domain.a!user.han 0 int han
